Well then you at least used protection to tame it. Without the arena grand master trinket that gave you protection bubble or priest shield you wouldn't be able to tame it that easily. I abandone it now, 'cause they nerved it as a pet. It's not able to withstand freeze trap now as pet. It still withstand freeze trap if you need to kill it.

I am not sure I understand why. Once tamed he is no better than other owls. If he had a rare skin, then that would be nice, but he doesn't. Looks like all of the other gray owls. I suppose you have your reasons, lol

I had a stamina buff and a neglace with +40 stamina and some epic gear and aspect of monkey and an elixir to get my health higher to finally tame gutripper. But still to tame Gutripper you need some kind of help.

Never ever can you solo! The damn owl is a tough one to tame

first scorpid sting then set a trap then tame

I like the song but the video should apply to any elite pet tamed before ice traps as well. Cast tame and pray that your cast is faster than your death. I tried having a healer for a couple of different pets and all it did was cause me to lose aggro during the tame. I don't think aspect of the monkey helps during a cast but I would use it anyway cause it won't hurt. Using serpent sting or other attacks that build up aggro will help if you have a healer but are no guarantee.

you may not have noticed, but attributes like... armor (& scroll of protection) are reduced to 0 when you're taming a pet.

Aspect of the monkey eh? Watch closely as to how many times you actually dodged, can't dodge while casting a spell :P Oh well not like there's anything better to use for taming anyway I've had to heal people while they were taming this so GG on doing it solo tho.

If he was an herbalist he might have been using a fel blossom which absorbs 750 to 1250 damage and lasts for 15 seconds. Definitely a handy item when it comes to taming things that are immune to freezing traps.

looks like he had some kinda shield on...I just went there with a resto class (doesn't matter which one...u shouldnt need too many heals) Attack gutripper til about 90-93% then start tame. The damage you did should be enough to keep aggro off of the healer u brought along. The healer should jsut focus on keeping you alive as opposed to topping you off becoz if he pulls aggro it will you force you to restart the taming process...
