  • I am also working on my GED and you are so awesome, this video has been really helpful thank you so much.I have one more test to go yaaaaa!!!

  • Thanks you helped me on my hw but what if it says 120% of 80 and 200% of 150

  • hey this guy puts some music in his math lessons cool! :)

  • I am now ready for my test tomorrow XP

  • Thanks for this Video. I've always struggled doing % but this has helped me a lot. I'm planning on getting a better math grade to match my other grades from school. I'm 31.

  • what if it says 54 is what percent of 150?

  • but how about when the amount that has the decimal is the percentage? for example 8.25 out of 49.99? Could you help me with this one?

  • @LaLiviChapis I think your problem is 8.25% of 49.99. This is done the same way. Always move the decimal point over two spots to the left in the percent. So 8.25% becomes .0825 and then multiply that by 49.99. That's quite a multiplication problem. Hopefully you're allowed to use a calculator. ;)

  • thanks

  • music shouldn't be in a math instruction

  • What percentage is 4 of 25?

  • @mtndl222 4 of 25 is like a fraction. Think of it like 4 out of 25. There are two basic ways to change this into a percent. Remember, percent means PER CENT or out of 100. So 4 out of 25 is WHAT out of 100. That's a simple fraction conversion problem. 25 times 4 is 100 so you multiply the numerator by the same, 4 times 4 is 16. So, 16 out of 100, or 16%. All fractions can be converted to decimals and then percent by turning the fraction into a division problem. 4.00 divided by 25. 4 goes inside.

  • The sales price of a car is $12,590, which is 20% off the original price. What is the original price? how do i get that ?..

  • @Tupacbldz Think of it this way. P is original price. P X .8 (80% of the original is the amount you pay, 20% off is 80% on) = 12,590. So work backwards. The inverse operation of multiplication is division. 12,590 divided by .8 would be the original price. Hope that helps.

  • @tbed63 ohhh i knoww what you sayinn thnks alot i apriciated i need this for the sat thnks alot

  • thanks a lot this help me out a lot.

  • THANK YOU I THINK I GET IT.

  • what is 45 percent of 540? school hW help please ??

  • will the number divided by 100 times the percent number work

  • Hey i really want to thank you because this video has really helped me understand how to do this even more

  • Thank you that really helped!

  • I would like to see more of this kinda stuff very helpful in this generationfor our kids. keep it up !!!!

  • How do I calculate if I want to pay someone $6.00 of my product that cost $14.99? What is the percentage?

  • @Donamdavis Remember that all fractions are in essence division problems. In your example, you want to know $6 is what percent of $14.99. That's a fraction $6/$14.99. So to find the percent, just do 6 divided by 14.99. That will become 6.0000 divided by 14.99, which then becomes 600.000 divided by 1499. Your answer will be a decimal, in this case .400 (after rounding). Move the decimal point two places to the right and voila! The answer is 40%. That's about the best I can do in this comment box

  • Thank you very much - I am a student teacher and you've helped me re learn how to find a percent of a number!

  • Good teaching. I love music but in this case its out of place and very DISTRACTING!!!

  • thanks alot it helped my son .u u made it peice of cake for him .thank you

  • thx so much my teacher teached us this but in a harder way but this made everything easier to understand !

  • Thanks very helpful :)

  • Baby math

  • @Casso14894 noooooo albert Instein math dude

  • this helped me tremendously...thank you!

  • thanks a lot man

  • who needs school when you can learn things on youtube thats one reason why school is pointless

  • You're brilliant

  • awesome you made this extremely easy! thanks

  • my question is this, Lets say something cost 200 dollars one day, then it drops down to 170. How do you find the percentage of the price change?

  • @darthjoc Change over the original amount. In your problem, the change is 30 and the original amount is 200. So the fraction is 30/200. This is equivalent to 15/100 so it's a 15% change in price. Have fun!

  • @tbed63 thanks :)

  • @tbed63 haven,t you got a video up on youtube somewhere with the math problem of 78 is 15% of what? i think i was waching that the other day and thats what i wanted to learn how to find the say 78 is 15% of what. you know that kind of thing a number is 15% or whatever percent of what number.i forgot what method you used and i don,t really understand your written stuff here.because for me i need to practice once ive grasped a method for a way of doing math problems ;)

  • I have a question.

Let's say I put $10 my friend puts $60 Wichita will equal $70. How can I get the percentage of money I put?

  • @Calirider21 You put in 10 out of 70. Therefore, you put in 10/70 or 1/7 of the money. Just turn that into a division problem because all fractions are division problems. You would do 1.000 divided by 7. This will result in a decimal that goes on for quite a few digits, so you would normally round that answer to the nearest hundredth or thousandth: 14% or 14.3%.

  • Thank you for posting this. This week I started tutoring inner-city 6th graders and was amazed many couldn't figure out what 10 percent of 300 was. So, I came here to make sure I was teaching them the right way and found that your way seems easier to comprehend then what I did. I agree, music isn't needed for me, maybe it helps keep younger boys focused. Intro music was over-the-top IMHO Please post previously requested video on how to teach them that a number is what % of another number.

  • can you please dont open song i cannot concentrate

  • loool i love blackops

  • this was helpful

  • thanks i needed help was kind of rusty thanks

  • Thank you you saved me from failing math!!!

  • @Kankurofa The denomonator is determined by the last place of the percentage. for ex 125% = 125/1000

  • @chwoonie Actually that's not right. In a percent the denominator is always 100 because percent means out of 100. 125% = 125/100. Perhaps you are confusing with decimals. .125 = 125/1000 which is determined by the last place.

  • Ahh.... Not the simplest I've seen, but great additional option to enhance critical thinking.. Hmmm, there is nothing best but to tune up your math skills. Cheers..*sips wine*

  • maths just pisses me off

  • This makes math way more easier why can't teachers make things this easy lol

  • ok i got a problen. how much did they actually spend if they payed 7%. one spent $15.90 and the onther person spent $135. can some one help??

  • what if you get a problem that say ... what is 66 2/3 % of 810 ?

  • so what if you get a problem like 33 is what percent of 150? or 18 is 40% of what number?

  • @billmaster That would be another video...which I've yet to make ; ) The short answer: 33 is what percent of 150? This would be done by making the numbers into a fraction 33/150. Fractions are division problems, so just do 33 divided by 150. Add a decimal point and several zeroes to the 33. You may have to round. The first two digits past the decimal are the percent. The other problem...18=.40X? So just do the inverse operation. 18 divided by .40. This probably won't help much. Blessings.

  • @tbed63 it actually does!!! thank you very much!!! keep doin what u do :)

  • dude thank you...im even in college and i completely had a brain fart on how to do percents. this made it seem easy as 2+2...thanks =]

  • very nice i like dis video keep it up

  • Dude, thanks alot and i'm telling the truth

I was stuck on one problem where you had to estimate, and it was 24% of 80

Your second example was right on the spot lol'

Thanks, My 7nth grade teacher confuses me :P

  • for the .65 cant u put the 300 on top and still get the same answer?

  • @mok451 Yes, you can put either number on top. It's easier for most people to put the 300 on the bottom because of the zeroes.

  • @tbed63 Thank you so much for makeing this video, i am 17 years old and am studying to get my GED and this video is one of the best teaching videos iv ever seen, it has really helped me and i just want you to know your doing a good thing posting videos like this that teach people. Thanks for the help! hope you continue to post videos!

  • lol now i kno wht to do when i see things like ts on the exams .not such a bad vid guy

  • thank you that was very illustrative, execept for the music, it was kind of annoying!!

  • Thank you for your vid. Simple put, and easy to pick up.

  • good help

  • The music is original

  • Like the beat... cool clean teacher!

  • awsome :) needed thiz video its simple

  • thanx needed thiz info lol :)

  • thanks nice work

  • nice teaching quite knowiing iit. :)

  • I like the part where he does math

  • @CatieSaysHi really his whole video iz about math theres no parts! duh retard lol jk

  • Just a little tip...If you had your camera right above the sheet (so ppl can see what you're writing) instead of behind your arm, it wouldn't be so confusing to other people :)

  • @AK47HEAVYMETAL83 Thanks for the tip. I thought of that. Unfortunately, I don't have the budget to buy equipment to suspend the camera. This is the best I could do. I think you need to make a tutorial so we can see how it's done. ; )

  • @tbed63 You're welcome. Unfortunately, "I don't have the budget to buy equipment." lol :P I meant like, if it's a detachable webcam (the ones that clip on laptop lids), it would be much easier, you could just clip it on something right above where you're sitting.

  • dude you killing you self in you have time to do you test you are doing it the long way and complicated try this in step...

  • thank you for helping me

  • @malyssadeanne ikno he helped meh too :D

  • why not use a calculator????

  • @jmoney2471 OF COURSE! Why didn't I think of that?! ; P

  • @jmoney2471 duh cuz u are supposed to use ur head to solve it...stupid..thats is what math is about...

  • @golinkinpark13 ye but in a job if u had 2 do somthing like tht u wouldnt use a whiteboard and a pen u'd use a CALCULATOR

  • really helpful... THanks

  • thanx alot mate this helped me a lot... ur the best

  • Thank you !

This is very helpful and I like the way you explain it and break it down, so helpful !

    Thanks for sharing :)

  • Dude thank you i am starting to come around in this

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!! i have star testing tomorrow and i missed this lesson one day. i didnt knw it was that simple

  • omg you made it so simple know :_) thnx.....ALOT

teachers make it harder for some reasom -_- lol

  • i did this in school today! but different

  • A musical score is unnecessary.

  • @smichael61 Wow.

  • @tbed63 Explain, Wow. I think the drum beat thing is distracting. Great math lesson.

  • @smichael61 ...amen...

  • @golinkinpark13 A lot of things are unnecessary in life...especially on youtube. I think you guys are being hypercritical. I'll try to make a perfect video to help you better next time ; P

  • @tbed63 thanx yur video helped meh!

  • thnx well explained. I finally get it.

  • Great Job.....My kids and I Love your style of teaching.

  • i get that now, all you do is add a decimal at the begining of the percent and remove the percent sign then multiply it by the whole and add decimal in the right place on the answer you got

  • THX !! THiS iS A MUCH EASiER WAY THAN THE TEACHER's DiSCUSSION !! THX !!

  • Thank you this helped alot!!!

  • Thanks man!

  • You realy helped me on my math hw. Thanks!

  • tnx 4 this video it's a big help

  • due thanks i getting an A+

     so far on math

  • omg thank you sooo very much! i am in 7th grade and i missed school today because i am sick, and my math book doesnt help at all! and i get it from just watching the video. thanks so much! :)))))

  • thanks! my final is tomorrow so I needed a quick explanation

  • Thanks so much!!

U just saved me from getting another C on my report card!!!

  • thanks, great video. my math teacher has explained this in a much more difficult way, and your video really helped me out. I have a end of term test coming up and this was great!

  • Thanks for saying thanks on Thanksgiving ; )

  • Hey im from jamaica and trust me jamaica's way is much much easier and takes less time if u don't believe me 2 bad. see:

    eg. 25% of 80

    1. Put 25 over 100 cause u no (%) mean over 100.

    2. 25/100 x 80

    3. Then you cancel it so u say 25 of 100 is a 1/4.

    4. U say 1/4 of 80 is? U cancell

    5. 4 into 80 is 20.

    6. 20 will now be your answer wasn't that easy than changing into decimal and then multiplying cancelling u CAN'T GO WRONG! I hoped i helped!!!!

  • This is a great way to do it if you are dealing with a percent like 25% or 50%, etc. However, it's not so great if you are working with 17% or some other percent that does not multiply easily into 100. I am showing in this video the simple way to find any percent of a number. Thanks for sharing. I think math is pretty much the same no matter what country you are from.

  • Music is a little distracting, & yer hand is in the waay. oh wells...

  • How much did you pay for this tutorial? And you are complaining because? ; )

  • :l but i actually understand it becuz of this vid.

  • Awesome...glad it could help you Kyra.

  • Thank you very much this video finally taught me percents thank you very much now i can pass my asvab and enlist in the army and again thank you.

  • Hey this is very helpful thanks alot for the video

  • Another way to do 25% of 80 is do 50% of 80 (which is half of 80) = 40 and there are two 25's in 50 so you have one 25 left so you do half of 40 which equals 20.

  • You are correct...that's a great way to think of that exact problem. My intent with this tutorial is to present a clear way to solve ALL percent of a number problems. Thanks for your input!

  • Very helpful with simple instructions, great video. thanks! :]

  • great job!

  • im in 6th and we're lerning this, dang private school

  • easiest way hands down: lets say 78% of 833 so do 833 divide by 100 so 8.33 x 78 = 650 or do 78 divide by 100= 0.78 x 833 =650

  • wut if deres 1 likk: 33 1/3% of 132

  • why don't you just do it the easy way

20% is the same thing as 1/5

    1/5 x 50 =10

    it's as simple as that

  • That works great if the percent is similar to your example. However, it is important to know the process in order to solve more complex problems like 39% of 6.42. Get it?

  • cant you use the triangle formula for this equation ????

  • Why not just do it like this...

    20% of 50 =

    50% = 25 (just half it)

25% = 12.5 (just half what you got for 50%)

    10% = 5

    which means 5% = 2.5

    12.5 ( 25%) - 2.5 (5%) = 10

    ANSWER: 10

(that's how Mr Steel, our maths teacher taught us how to do it)

  • the most simple n best video ever

  • Comment removed

  • do 39 divided by 51 then theres your answer if you do it on a calculator it would come up like this 0.(what ever the percentage is)

  • Wow! Hes good!!! If only ALL of the USA teachers taught like he does!!!

  • TNX 4 ur help Im 23 years old and attending adult school STAY IN SCHOOL KIDS !again tnx for ur help.

  • LOL UR GOOD I GASSS !! LOL

  • thanks for the help my teacher is strict this week i will have a test on percents do you have more videos i relly need the help

  • I have a couple more and hope to post others in the future. You can find them on my channel under my playlist math lessons...

tbed63 is my channel. Take care.

  • wow thanks that like really helped me

  • helped me do my math thanks

  • this helped me a ton for my test in a few days

  • Nice one i think this will help me pass the recriuter exam and the asvab for navy Thanks a lot!!

  • I'm taking the ACT's Test in Novemeber to get into college to become a Practical Nure, and I forgot ALL this math stuff, so thanks for the video! It really helped me refresh!!!

  • Ima h-school senior in pre-calculus thanks

  • awesome man thank you soooo much =D

  • Very helpful information.

  • its kind of easy even 30 percent of 27 is easy its 7.9

  • questions to easy the only good question was 30 percent of 27 the rest were shit easy to find a percent of 25 of something u dived and dived again

  • thx dude u really helped me man! i am in 7th grade and i was gonna have a test on it but now i just have to practise a little more so i can get a good marks!thx again!

  • im in 7th grade, and you really helped me...

you might be the reason I pass 7th grade LOL

  • same here i gotta go take my final exams for 7th grade

  • Something I've stumbled upon: an easy way to calculate 10% of any number is to move the decimal point one position to the left. To find 1% of a number, just move the decimal two places to the left. You can then use those percentages to calculate any other percentages. :)

  • This is very helpful. Thank you.

  • What a top guy, got a navy test coming up so brushing up on the percentages! this is a great help, just need to practise them now.

    cheers

  • This was really helpful. thanks!

  • This really helped. Thanks.

  • wow nice!!

    keep making 'em

  • thank you so much =]

  • thx
