Beleive it or not---but the overcast conditions (can) actually magnify the suns rays...the human eye cannot detect suns UV rays--only the colors of the reaction due to the surface of the pigment of said object....Where the clouds may filter out the illumination of the sun--it can magnify the UV rays...SO---I think that may be a good flashlight regardless...

Just bought one of these today for a trip I'm planning. I have to say, I was as skeptical and as pleasantly surprised as you seemed to be in your video. It definitely felt somewhat cheap with the plastic construction, but (thanks to your video) appears to be very durable. Great review for a good product. Definitely going back to buy another one of these to leave in my car.

With the small amount of solar cells in that light you are going to have to leave it in the sun for a day or two. Maybe 3... Hours of a hallogen is pretty expensive charging LOL...

Nice piece of gear, MadBad. My main reason for braving CostCo and buying a couple of these (which may happen, now that I've seen this vid) would be to have a flashlight that was independent of batteries. Never know when you might be without batteries (or when there might be a retail shortage), so it seems like a good way to secure peace of mind, as you said.

Great job on the tests, thats a tough little light. Solor panal chargers that small are pretty slow. What type of battery does the solor-collector charge?
