  • Yeah, i' ve really see Jack in the green! Nice vid mate!

  • Most whimsical of all and nice work with the material. Nice guitar too.

  • Great cover of a personal favourite! thank you sir!

  • Good job. I loved it. It's a fun song to play.

  • A rush and Jethro tull fan just like me! Cool! Have you seen JT in the 2010 tour? do you know if they play skating away(on the thin ice of a new day ), jack in the green and thick as a brick? I shall see them on sunday so it would be fun know! By the way! Your Jt covers are really really good!

  • Very nice cover... Congrats!

  • Terrific! Congratulations and thanks

  • Songs from the wood is such a great album.

    You're a great muscician

  • Been listening to Tull since 1970 so I have a pretty good idea what a good cover might sound like, This is a great cover well done Mr. SilverHamer.

  • very good!!

  • Excellent rendition Sir, you are a fine singer and musician. I am a big Jethro Tull fan and really appreciate this.

  • Okay, lol, never mind, Bb without the capo xD ... Db with it.

  • You've basically figured it out. :D It's not a difficult progression to play at all.

  • So the progression is G, Em, Am7, D... and 'Its no fun being a jack in the green" goes ?, F, G, and so on... What is that chord? It looks very similar to an F but I know it isn't exactly and I can't distinguish it... otherwise EASY! :D

  • Really excellent cover! Ian would give you a nod!

  • What would be that chord progression through the verse? i believe im seeing a Bflat, F, and some variation of C. Mind helping me out?

  • You're close...but that is not a variation of C...it's a G chord which adds a D note on the B string 3rd fret. Bb-F-G Hope this helps.

  • Are you the long lost brother of Ian Anderson? Amazing cover thank you for sharing :)

  • Omg. Epic!

  • Yoink!!!!!!!

  • My woods is chocked in weeds, I may clear a path some day and return to throne tree!

  • your nailing ut right on. its a rare bird that one can cover tull. id like to hear you do dun ringill or one brown mouse

  • awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!♥♥♥

  • thats awesome dude. could you tell me what the four chords are in the la da da dee dee la da da dee bit? i cant work them out!

  • G - Em - Am7 - D

  • very good sir

  • BRAZIL, Esse Sr canta muito bem, até da pra confundir com o Ian Anderson. very good.

BRAZIL, That Mr sings very well, until it's confused with Ian Anderson.

  • you're the man

  • Sounded really great. You must have played it a lot back in the days

  • Great cover of a Jethro Tull song. Songs From the Wood is a great Album. Question, though - I saw you in a Rush shirt in another video, how about some Rush covers?

    Great Stuff, though!

  • Sweet : )

  • Liked "Skating Way on the Thin Ice of a New Day" as well. Jethro Tull is a modern folk artist. But won for metal band... ha that was crunked.

  • great sound man well done!

  • Awesome to see that this song actually works even when stripped down to just an acoustic guitar and a voice. I'm impressed, keep it up!

  • great "camp-fire" version of one of my favorite songs by my absolute favorite band! nice clean sound too.

  • omg! you are great man ! nice guitar and singing! keep it up m8

  • That was incredible, you should record an acoustic tull alabum!!

  • hey nice playing!! maybe you should cover the whistler from that great man you know, I would enjoy watching you playing it

  • You nailed it. A pleasure to listen to. Vocals were exceptional. Keep it up.

  • Best cover of this song on youtube! i was wondering if you could post the chords for this song? all the ones i see are wrong =/

    thanks!

  • Wonderfully done, my friend. Bravo!

  • hey, I normally don't like covers very much, but yours are awesome, honest. Both your voice and your guitar rock!

  • Perfect! The guitar sounds fantastic too. Five stars.

  • Fantastic suff....captured that quirky mystical english artist...in a very american way!

  • Another brilliant cover of one of the best bands ever!

  • Have you watched the cover of Thick As A Brick that I did with EMP? It looks best on my space...my name over there is /larrycurtismusic. :D Have a look, the videos are on my profile page along the left side...3 parts lasting almost 18 minutes. LC

  • Congratulations...I´m sure that was one the bestest cover I´ve never ever seen in Utube...! So, how technics did you use to the voice..? It was really great!!!!!

  • very very good... your voice is perfect for jethro tull

  • MUITO BOM!

  • Obrigado muito! : D

  • Great rendition! Loved it. Thanks so much.

  • What a real treat. My endorphins are firing off constellations.

    So well done.

  • Are they nylon strings that you are playing?

  • Nopers...they are 80/20 Phospher/Bronze. :D

  • I just love this!!! It takes me back to my summers at Maplewood with my Grandparents who are now gone.... you brought them back to me with this song. Thank you!!!!

  • bravo !!

  • Great performance, love this song. Thanks a lot for uploading this!

  • He sings that like a good fitting glove. Just fits around the ear nicely. Nice touch on a great song.

  • Great job! I love this song, and you have done it very well. Thank you for sharing. I will check out your other Tull performances.

  • do you think ian anderson will ever get some credit for the great songs he wrote?

  • he better, i think ian and this guy should get some people together and do a tour

  • Man, I am serious impressed!

  • You make it look effortless. Great Job!!!

  • keep on rocking on in 2008 silverhamer you are incredible.

  • Found it!! Class man!

  • excellent performance

  • Nice end when you started encorporating dynamics there. Tricky to play and sing at the same time. I'd like to see a retake with more emphasis of volume on the lyric, "Jack in Green..." followed by lighter strum right after. Brilliant work.

  • Another consistently good performance :)

  • cool

  • I put this on, and left the room to answer the door, and as I was coming back, I thought I was really listening to Tull! Awesome singing/singing man!

  • awesome dude. I play alot of Tull. Rock on Brotha

  • Absolutely brilliant! Tull is by far my favourite band; this made my day.

  • cool guitar sound, technique seems to be allright...

    your voice is very musical

  • What the fuck you are a hot fuckn guitar man, good man. americanwarsoldier

  • Dude that's amazing!!!! Tull I saw them play this at Radio City in NYC in 1976 I think! Was John Glasscock on bass for this song? Hey Check out my guitar videos! and i would be honored if uou joined my guitar player group and posted some videos there!

  • Well done! Good cover! Do you like the band Jethro Tull? I love it!

  • I cannot STAND Jethro Tull...ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? HAHA. I am a HUGE fan of Tull, have been since 1971. Thanks for the kind comment. LC

  • Hi LC. Again a job well done on another Tull song. Your strumming is very powerful..it's dynamite and you make that guitar sound like it's 10 times bigger. I'd like to end my comment on a funny note and hope you don't mind. Exactly at 2 minutes 35 seconds in your recording of this song I can hear a dog bark once in the background. Very funny. Thak you agaim for everythimg LC. cheers!

  • you sound exactly like ian

  • I really like the way you peform Jethro Tulls songs.everyone knows how difficult it is to play all these tricky chords and remember all those peculiar words and sing at the same time-therefore i would like to request a favour-if you find it possible and feasible ofcourse please do cover WONDRING ALOUD-its an excellent sample of Ian Andersons unique talent. Thanks anyway--

  • Hi, I have already covered that one and it is posted in my video files. Click my screen name and go to my main page, then click the "view all" link under my videos section...you may have to look around but it's in there. :) Thanks for the kind words. LC

  • in the words of ian anderson from the bursting out album it's ""jack's" in the green" They're plural"

  • Ahhh yes! LOL. Very good...I have not thought of that one in a very long time!

  • That was great, i should have watched yours before i stuck mine up on here!

  • he's much better on the dicer!

  • And hes got a kickass beard, see what i'm up against??!!

  • Well gosh, man, quit putting duct tape on your face and let it grow! LOL.

  • Hey man, it shouldn't be so much about who does it better, but rather whether you're having fun doing it!!

  • I really enjoyed this performance. It is a great song and what I liked best about your take on it was how relaxed you are, how much you enjoyed both playing and singing it, and the dynamics that came through in this solo take. I look forward to hearing and seeing the rest of your videos.

  • Thank you very much for the kind comment. This is one of my favorite "banging-out-Tull" tunes which holds vivid memories of watching them do it live. LC

  • I enjoyed your cut down version more than Tull's!...a nice evocation of bucolic fanatasies of old albion by a Texan helicopter pilot!

  • Great job on a great song. Would you be so kind to share the tuning for that song. It sounds like standard, capo'd at the second fret?

  • Standard tuning and I believe I'm on the 3rd fret with the capo...it's hard to tell in the video isn't it...sorry for that. But yea, 3rd fret, standard tuning. Thanks for the kind words. LC

  • now do thick as a brick....

    ALL 45 min OF IT!!!!

  • Check my videos...I've done a couple of those already. TAAB is too big really, but I'm scheming on it...LC

  • Hey man your are Ian's reincarnation! Please keep posting Tull covers... what about 'Life's a long song' or 'Thick as a brick' or 'Wondring aloud' or 'Summerday sands'... oh great accustic guitar songs...

  • love it

  • HOLY COW!!!!DAT WAS AMAZING,,,,the guitar sounds perfect and so is ur voice!!u rule

  • it's always nice seeing covers that don't bring shame on the originals! great job, great voice!

  • Great job and yeah it's from my fave album - songs from the wood.

  • Really cool voice ! You are really "living in the past", thinking of your great music taste :)

  • oh man that ending i smiled ,...lol you beat me to it! i just played along..never tried that tune..thank you!

  • HEE HEE :) Yea I thought the sudden fade at the end would be a nice touch. When Tull plays it live all of the lights go out right there, so I figured what the heck. It's a fun tune to play. LC

  • Heavenly.

  • best cover version i've heard, excellent:)

  • Thank you very much! LC

  • I hope you get a chuckle out of this, but my guitar teacher actually sent me the link to this song as a teaching aid! I've watched all your vids and you are amazing. Maybe you have some original works you can post?

  • That's cool that your guitar teacher told you to watch me, I am honored. I have some original works which are sort of in a holding file at the moment. My REAL job is sort of keeping me from posting new material right now but I will get around to it eventually. LC

  • i like it! can you do cross eyed mary or to cry you a song?

  • I have done Crosseyed Mary...check my video list on my profile.

  • Just very nice, you coulda, shoulda, mighta, maybe been a rock star. You're a U tube star as are many others who seem to play the covers as well or better than our idols. It all seems weird to me like I should pay a cover charge or something at the utube cafe and grill. Keep on posting!

  • yeah really really great. i like that

  • Way cool! Your Jethro Tull covers are some of the best I've ever heard. You have a really good voice for these songs. Please post more J/T.

  • i really admire your attention to detail in your guitar work, i can really appreciate these songs, you also help me to play the guitar parts properly..thx alot

  • Many times this is how we learn...seeing others doing it. I still pick things up this way, like the little boy who plays Stairway To Heaven so flawlessly for an 8 or 9 year-old. He actully inspired me to learn Stairway all the way through...some 35 years later...LOL LC

  • anyways i admire your work and hope to be great like that one day..peace bro

  • That was a treat ... my favorite Tull album ... thanks!!

  • Is that Mrs. LC's Ventura you're playing on? Sounds good.

  • Yepper...lol. I snuck it out of the case right under her nose...LOL. LC

  • Very nice! I like how you played the A twice while talking before the song, like ian often does in concerts:)

  • Oh Lord! That was so totally unplanned and a million miles from my thinking. It's like a habbit for me to sort of help get my mind on pitch for the song...I guess this is something many others do as well. Thank you for the kind words. LC
