@ronmamita but let's not forget that GSH had a clear politically critical stance til the end. Unlike Hancock who became a Buddhist and suffers from the illusion that this 'belief' (which historically has always felt very comfortable with political power) will remove him from capitalist logic. GSH has always been political, straightforward, funny, real, and very critical of capitalism. He was one of my heroes.

@ronmamita ♫ Over the past 5 days, when I mention Gil's passing, the reaction is either blank stare "who is he?" or emotional outpouring. I was impressed when someone half my age recited Gil's words. To know him is to ♥ him.

3 weeks before he died, I went through all my GSH handwritten lyrics and chords compiled way before the internet existed. I was planning a series of tributes, but now they will also be memorials. #1 Pieces of a Man- in a few days-stay tuned ☮ Squirehogg ☯

@onelovega Gil's poem was referring to the legendary Detroit Jazz Bassist "Ron" Carter; but before all that, in the intro he gives thanks to the great saxophonist "Ron" Holloway playing with him on stage.
