  • damn... seeing all these boosted cars kinda makes me wanna keep my notch a 4 banger... anyone know if my 5.0 T5's gear ratios will improve my acceleration over my stock tranny? cuz im running an 04 rear end with stock 3.27s and really wanna find out if my T5 is better geared for it than my stock 5 speed

  • anybody know how to contact huber i have a couole questions

  • Is this 744hp and 550tq at the wheels, or was it corrected for crank HP? And what fuel is he using?

  • @te37drift That was at the wheels!!! Racing fuel, not sure of a kind or fancy mix..

  • 750 horsepower and 550 torque????..... o_o

  • @pac850 Eventually it made over a grand on Hot Rod's Drag Week. I'm pretty sure it got mid-20s for fuel economy, too with a little computer tweak for the highway driving part of the week.

  • @musewolfman I feel like for having 750 hp it should have more torque right?.... is there a simple explanation for this? My volvo 850 r also has a 2.3 liter engine which I'm pretty sure can swap heads with this car and is known to be torquey. Figured it would be similar for the svo.

  • Stock '79 turbo 4's had a carbureted set up was aparantly tricky to tune. Is that this set up?

  • @smithraymond09029 No this Turboed car does not use that carb setup.. All I know it that it has some sort of fuel injection system on it now..

  • @1984SVOstang megasquirt (fuel and spark) 2 driving LS coils and some OMG HUGE injectors.

  • @smithraymond09029 Jons car has a DFI set up, digital fuel injection, all latop stuff

  • actually, if i'm not mistaken, i dont think connecting rod lenth changes the displacement.. it doesnt affect swept volume

  • Only 3 things can-/+ engine displace-connecting rod lenth/piston diameter/and the crank. Given these 3 internal components and YOU can MAKE YOUR ENGINE as BIG as the BLOCK WILL ALLOW...

  • lol i love the big tires my t-bird sc looks the same lol good for long acceleration

  • Nice four-eyed Fox, homie.

  • you can easily put over 450+hp on the stock svo bottom end. Happens all the time. Get a Holset turbo. 75# injectors and turn the boost up and let it rip.

  • how much money does it take to get this kinda power from a 2.3????

  • enough to make it worth every penny i'd say.

  • from everything I've heard, not as much as you might think. junkyard turbos and intercoolers work pretty good on these for between 300 and 400h.p. and the bottom end is supposedly ridiculously strong. as far as making this much power, should be no more expensive then trying to get 750h.p. out of a 350 chevy. maybe less because you're only working with 1 bank of 4 cylinders instead of 2 as in a V8. but I could be wrong.

  • if you have to ask its not for you

  • just wondering hp/$. I built a 557 big block and made 702hp for $6500. haha (super2ner) I bet you can't even tune a radio....

  • oook yet I tune ms/aem/motec/stock ecu systems everyday. As I said If you have to ask its not for you 10k engine setup can get you 800

  • jeez, thank ass, I'm interested in something new/different to me and ask a general question. Like you woke up one day and where a 4cyl god.....please!

  • there isnt 10 grand wrapped up in that motor i guarantee it

  • you must not know whos car that Is. theres most likely 25k in the motor alone

  • like maybe 5 grand tops. its not hard to get 700 hp out of these 2.3's and relatively cheep.

  • lol you really dnt know who jhon huber is. its a custom built 2.8 liter pinto block. the rods and pistons are custom built. hell the custom turbo and manifold alone cost 5k

  • Lol Rods?

This is an OHC fool. Ontop of that ive seen guys the 2.3 series get around 500 hp from bolt on parts you can get from businesses like Stinger Performance. for only a couple thousand bucks.

this is a 2.3 block and its pretty much impossible to punch it out to a 2.8 there would be no walls left for the cylinders to slide up and down in. or they would just melt. tops you can get out of these engines is like a bore to 2.5 L

btw it says in the info that its a 2.3 L, ass

  • @MattDJ2 You sir are an ass clown. It started out as a SVO 2.3L HIGH DECK Block, Meaning the deck is taller than a standard 2.3L Block. it was NOT bored it was STROKED. and a 2.5 is not a BORED version of the 2.3L the 2.5L is an IDENTICAL block it just has a 7mm longer STROKE crank than a 2.3L.

  • @MattDJ2 actually they sell stroker kits that stroke those motors to 2850cc and one of jon hubers cars is at 3.0L

  • @MattDJ2 Judging from your replies, I'd say you know nothing about cars. You sound like one of those guys that claim 20hp out of a K&N CAI. Not hard to get 700hp out of a 2.3? Maybe if money is no option. That is like sayng I could easily get over 1000rwhp out of my 5.0. OF course it needs to be built like a brick shit house and run 30psi out of a 110mm turbo. If it was soooo easy, then everyone would be doing it. Btw, cylinders don't slide up and down in blocks. Read your post before posting :)

  • @natev6 I do know a fair bit about SVO's because i own car #52 of 1984. But i completely look like a dumbass about these comments. I don't claim anything about cold air intakes because thats just a rip. I Drive a 92 dodge D250 and my summer car is an 84 SVO. I'm not a little ricer kid. And Im sorry if you believe you think i know nothing about cars. I make mistakes sometimes but apparently you dont.

  • @MattDJ2 You just make far more then more mistakes then most. Just because you drive something doesn't mean you know anything about it at all. This is like 90% of the planet. The way you talk proves this because if you did know about it, you would at least correct yourself or not make the comment at all. I never said I don't make mistakes, but I don't talk like I don't know anything about what I'm arguing about. Youtube or in person.

  • @natev6 Im sure my post was longer then a year ago. Since then i completely rebuilt my SVO Engine amongst many others. If i didnt realize what a retard i was from these past posts do you think id be back stepping? Maybe me being beef-headed when ever i posted this would be the reason i didn't research Huber's Car. But this is lame having a argument through Youtube. Sorry for wasting your time.

  • @MattDJ2 haha so true! No worries man, sorry to be a stickler. Hope your car is workin awesome!

  • @natev6 Thanks man i always laugh at people who tell me to convert my car to 5.0 and i almost choke when they ask me to sell it... I think ill have that car till they put me in the ground or it puts me there.

    taker Easy bud.

  • @MattDJ2 Can the car not be the coffin?

  • it doesnt matter whos car it is my buddy has an SVO with under 5k wrapped up in the motor putting down over 575 all hes done is a bigger turbo and a megasquirt to tune it i can get the video of it i believe and post it up but 575 to the wheels in under 5k isnt bad

  • not entirely that much alot of people have been putting together bits and pieces of these cars in my area hit me with a message if you need parts
