Yea it comes down to how you want people to perceive you. In that case I would go for the Benz because it does portray "classy" and "gentlemen" whereas BMW gives off the image of a big ego. For this reason alone I would go for the Benz. It's a shame because the M3 is a great car but honestly if I had the choice I would not want to bee seen in one. I never met any porsche drivers but I can see how they can be more elitist than even bmw drivers.

Wow. You've obviously never driven an AMG. I, on the other hand, have owned the C55 AMG and driven the C63 and E63. These are PURE muscle cars. They are WAY overpowered, pull burnouts through 3rd gear and at up to 70mph. They're also HEAVY as all hell and slide around bends like the behemoths that they are. That's why I sold mine and bought a Maserati! But I still have the urge for that AMG power every now and then.

But AMG has the best engineering specialists, not to mention great desiners as well - thanks to them - Mercedes has never been so ragingly powerful and fashionably rich-looking...

Yes, I will admit that BMW is careless with the interiors of their lower range models. For example, the C class interior is far superior than the average 3 series, but as we escalate upwards on on the BMW range, the fit and finish matches that of Benz pretty well, and the engineering expertise completely blows Benz away, specially in the ///M division. The Luxury Institute ranked BMW as on of the most luxurious automobile brand amongst Porsche, and Benz. They are both good, but M > AMG!

It's sad when a car company that has been making cars for "twice as long as BMW" still can't make a car handle unless they strip it down, over price it by 120%, make it look like it's on steroids, and call it a "Black Series". The C63 can't handle for shit, heck, even the CLK 63 AMG Black Series looses to it's 4 year older BMW equivalent, the E46 M3 CSL by 12 secs around the Nurburgring, despite having a 4 year + 140Hp advantage. You say they got it right!? Well, perhaps the exhaust note...

you simply dont understand anything about car business in germany. ill try to explain. mercedes build cars which have to distingish from their counterparts like bmw or audi. while bmw sets focus on velocity and power, mercedes has always been way better in comfort, space and quality. so even if u compare the m3 with the c63 it has to be like this, that the bmw is a little bit faster then the merc but just so little that u and me wouldnt feel the difference (just on the paper). thats how it works

Listen to this guy, telling ME that I have no idea how the German car industry works! Listen, the C63 isn't just slightly slower than the M3, it is slower by a margin of 2-3 seconds on most tracks meaning that on a 20 lap race the C63 would be lapped by about A MINUTE! If that is not noticeable then I do not know what is. Don't tell me I don't understand how the German car industry works, I have a garage full of them, I have been to BMW Welt more than you have been to the bathroom.

in this business its all about prestige, the acceleration to 100kmh and driving as fast as possible on the autobahn. as long as u arent a profesional driver u will not sence the diference of performance between an m and amg.
