I used to live in a ghetto when I was younger, and if someone wanted to, they could actually kill you in broad daylight, and walk away from it.

In those situations, if you don't simply put killing the guy as an option on the table - you're pretty much finished.

sure the liver is on the right side of the body. but you're forgetting about all of that force that was generated with the kick, and centering it to the point of the toes ( which could break your toes, you should always try to kick with the ball of your foot, by curling your toes back) would pierce through the body and effect the liver. so it's right, other than the kicking with your toes thing.

The liver is located on the right side of the body but extends just to the middle, you can get hit in the mid section and go down from a liver shot. The show was never going to be perfect, learn to accept it for what it is witch is still extremely informative and knowledgeable.

They also don't talk about true power generation by driving from your center. There's so much more to these techniques, and they could never be properly executed with out a couple years of foundation work. Foot positioning, hip movement, conditioning and knowing how to NOT telegraph your intentions to your opponent. I still find the show interesting but I catch stuff like this all the time. Nice post.

Dude, they're still hitting the area with the first clip. The kick is hitting the floating ribs which are only supported by cartilage. The kick hits the soft area between the ribs and the ribs themselves. The second kick causes the ribs to compress the liver causing indirect damage.

Who says your leg is speeding up all the time it's in motion? Did you measure that? IMO, moderately short strikes rule. Powerful enough, but not as visible, you don't get the time to react to them. More than that, they work in close quarters, which allows you to hold on to the opponent and/or pack more blows into a unit of time before he/she stumbles away and out of your reach. Thai fighters can deliver bone breaking blows with their knees, while in a clinch. so much for distance.

Striking an enemy in the Bracial plexus can cuase an almost instant stun, grabbing someone on thier radial nerve will cuase an extreme amount of pain, and a direct kick to the femoral artery will cuase a momentary loss of movement in the leg. If you don't know how to reach these parts of the body with accuracy you will not be as effective of a fighter. Also excuse any spelling errors, martial arts is not grammar.

Not a fatal target by any means, but the floating ribs 11, and 12, are not attached to the sternum, which makes them libel to be easily broken, damaged, bruised, and dislocated.
