the chevy volt is not an electric car it is a crappy hybrird the toyota prius gets any where from 45-72 miles per gallon add an additional battery pack and you can get up to 150 miles per gallon. chevy volt gets 25-40 mile range and only gets 30 miles per gallon. Chevy volt $41,000.00 Toyota prius $25,000.00 to $32,000.00 which would you buy
At $0.11 per kWh, considering the average daily commute is 30 miles, the Nissan LEAF will cost you $0.86 per day for that 30 mile commute. If you drive an average of 30 miles every day, one month will cost $26.17.
My electric bill last month was $80.81, adding the Leaf in would take me up to $106.98 or an equivalent of a 32% increase on my electric bill, but hey I'm not paying $146.40 per month in gasoline for a savings of $120.23 per month!
And if you have soalr panels on your house, then you're burning no fossil fuels whatsoever. I've got solar panels on my house, but I can't quite afford a $40k electric car just yet.
A fully loaded Ford Edge or a fully loaded Chevy Volt are about the same price (after tax credit). After driving both, I ordered the Volt. For 90% of the driving I do, it will be gas-free. For cross-country trips, the 37 MPG gas engine will be used. Best of both worlds. The Volt is a fun car to drive as well, with great handling. The fact I'm not sending dollars to other countries for oil? Winning!

There are electric cars on the market that can go more than 200 miles on a single charge. The technology exists to get more than 500 miles from a single charge but they will never allow that technology on the market. The have been suppressing the electric car for over two decades now.
E=MC2 , you need mass to produce energy which is "oil", you need mass to produce energy "coal". They're all same shit. Unless you get the energy from out of planet, such as our sun (solar panels) then you're talking, rest is horse shit politics
We have a cute electric car in Bangalore. India called the Reva which costs only about 5000 dollars and it's great for running around the town - couple this with solar energy and you have a cheap green alternative. People with long road trips to make could always use petrol or diesel but the town electric car would go a long way to reducing our dependance on expensive oil and dangerous nuclear power with waste spent fuel rods that are poisonous to humans FOREVER and just keep increasing in nos
Unless you're wealthy enough to supply your own energy like the gentleman in this video, you're not really doing much of anything to help the planet by buying one of these cars. When you charge the vehicle, where do you think the energy comes from that's supplying the charge? It comes from a coal burning or nuclear power plant... Just sayin'...
Saving the Earth is not a priority yet it seems. By not destroying Earth we are saving our own lives are we not? Money ah...Money Such an unimportant factor..
This guy has the money but not the brains. I have friends who sell these cars and they always laugh at people after the sell. If you actually research these cars; there are not worth the price. So be GREEN and ride your bicycle.
Ask the People Who's Electric Car Burned Up Their Garage and their Other 2 Cars With It. lol,,,Electric Cars , Good Way to Keep You Slaves Limited. If you don't want to pay the price, then the earth is paying the price. Not only with pollution but with more waste. So please, money is brainwashing your mind. Think about life, think about the earth, think about who you are, who your neighbours are, think about your family. STOP THINKING ABOUT MONEY. It makes you blind to REAL things.
@punkempireinterviews That's stupid. Only idiots don't think about money. And BTW do you have scientific proofs that electric cars can solve our "warming" issues? The only "solution" is to eliminate 90% of the global population, but it's better you go then me.
@punkempireinterviews except you need money its not about wants its about needs. an electric car is a want and not everyone makes the kind of money to waste on a car like that just because its better for the earth. better off biking running ect since those are completly better for the you your wallet and the earth.
@punkempireinterviews If the financial system collapsed today it would have a more profound impact than you could possibly understand. Our economy is what keeps us civilized we are still the same barbaric people that used to watch people kill each other for sport. There should be a balance of the economy and the environment but saying money is bad is silly. Money paid for you education, your house, your clothes, your food. If you want to see how well that works out look at Africa.
@punkempireinterviews hmmm, stop thinking about money. that's all ido, when creditors are ringing my phone 24/7, when my car got repoed, cable, internet shut off, etc. i WISH i didn't have to stress about that. what about renters, where r they supposed to plug this shit? 40k? i could have a loaded 3 series bmw for that. they've had small diesels that get amazing milage in europe for decades, how many do u see here? in the usa u go from muscle cars 2 electric. missed 1 step in between?
The Volt's gas engine only help drive the wheels only when the battery is depleted. Even then it's only at speeds greater than 70mph. The engine is still generating electricity for the main electric motor. The Volt's design does no allow the gas engine to drive the wheels by itself. The main electric motor has to provide power as well. The Volt only has a 82 hp gas engine, but weighs 3700lbs. It has 149 hp of electric motors. Which one do you think power it most of the time
it's 4 times less expensive to drive on USA electric Off Peak compared to 50% imported OIL.

NO, electric cars are not worth the price.
In fact, they are more of a burden to the environment.
