The apache break is the genesis of hip hop that dj kool herc brought to the forefront

Great interview, I love how this guy catches people off guard with topics that they themselves are interested in.

Thats the very core of interviewing and it is rarely practiced to such a precise and humorous degree.

If MTV had VG's like this when they started the quality of music would be in my opinion encouraged to a much less commercial based aspect and more of a discovery of subtle influences from the past.

Sorry for ranting but I like this guy that much! :)

it's not that hip hop actually started in Canada there just saying that a break that grandmaster flash used was recorded in canada but hip hop was officially born in the Bronx New York in Dj Kool Hercs' (aka the God father of hip hop) building1520 Sedgwick Avenue.. roughly around the year 1973.
