That first dunk is 180, but it's hard. It's very hard to jump from the other side of the basket and turn and dunk, it's tough to know where the hoop is.

It's not the fact that Michael dunked from the free throw line, it's HOW he did it. It was such a large improvement over Dr. J's because he dribbled the ball and didn't just extend his arm out. Most people just look at it as "just another free throw line dunk" but it's really the style and finesse that goes into it.

I agree but Dr J was 6'7" with longer arms plus MJ double pumps in 87 n 88 and lifts his legs up n puts his left arm behind him That is why it looks 10X better than DJs FTL dunk MJ actually went over the FTL by 6" in 87 and about a FT in 88. 1985 he did the line. Difference is even though he went over in 88 he had so much more height on that dunk. I mean he probably could go a ft behind the line if he just wanted to make the dunk with no style like DR.J . To everyone arguing about the Free Throw Line dunk Jordan did.

It's not that special to be honest. The line is only 15 feet from the hoop. I used to long jump 22 feet in High School, and I'm only 6'1". If you have the extra vertical, or the extra height (MJ is 6'6"), it's not that hard. And yes, I'm talking about back when he did it. So to me, it was boring dunk because Dr.J did it in the NBA first... Just my 2 cents.

I still think Nique was robbed in the dunk contest in Chicago...
