You know, I honestly thought those little lights were going to look pretty silly installed on the Scout, but they turned out looking pretty good, and their performance eliminates any lingering hesitation.
I'm enjoying your vids, but they sure make me miss my Travelall.
Creativety award goes to you. Hey I built a hot rod 345 once for a 74 Travelall. Take care of that IH. They are good trucks, better if you are good at electrical work.
@beast12101 No, thank you. Its good to see someone want something and make it themselves. Its what us American's are best at. I am tired of seeing people with store bought toys. Hey just an Idea, look into old used ammo cans. I bolted one under the hood of my 73 powerwagon, sealed it with rtv and used it for tools.
@WARD5KUSTOMZ you know Id have to see them, but go to my newer HID video with night shots, and tell me if your lights have a perfect horizontal cutoff, you'll notice in the video that when i turn off the high beams its absolutely pitch black above the cut off, thanks
@igorg003 not at all, you get a perfect uniform beam, with nice cutoff do you dont blind oncoming traffic, think of a half moon. the angle of side dispersion depends on with projector your using. It sounds like you just put the HID bulbs in your halogen housing, right? That is to be avoided at all cost, your glare is the reason people hate HID conversions.
@beast12101 No actually i got them last year, Just never seen these kind of projectors you got there. I've been driving for this long and no one ever blinked there lights,, never pulled over, It actually isn't that blinding i checked, just very bright white with good visibility.
@beast12101 I own a 04 scion xb, i got the same ones for my dads ford taurus and my brothers camry. All are nice but on the ford it spreads out, and has no focus point, But still a better light then before.
oh and no it has the original stock cap, that blocks the lightbulb's beam, So it's not blinding. Which is a good thing.
Thats pretty cool. I have a 79 scout i built a set of HID lights for makes a huge difference thats for sure. and i get just as many people ask me about the lights as the truck. Check out my videos of them i have fully built sets for sale as well
That is cool as hell! What a crafty fucker you are lol! I wish I was mechanically inclined such as yourself! When it comes to mechanics I am a total dumbshit! The finished product is awesome dude! Very cool!
Nice job on the retro. Hopefully the clear plastic lens from the clock can withstand the heat and elements. If not, you could just get some Lexan or Plexiglass from Home Depot, which may hold up better.
Just a little comment on your "info". If you already have a projector style headlight, "simply putting HID KITS" is not a "poor excuse for proper lighting". You'll get the same exact and clear CUT-OFFs as the original halogen bulbs and will not blind anyone. Just my 2 cents.
not exactly so, a lot of those halogen lamps wont enjoy the added heat that HID brings, and not all projector lenses are made to great standards and have some glare factors, you add HID and it'll multiply the glare.
Not quite, ek214. Halogen reflectors are designed to work with certain halogen bulbs, which have the filament in a certain location. HID bulbs are completely different. Changing the position of the light source changes the output of the light. This is why just putting HIDs into halogen housings is a bad idea and creates excessive glare (most of the time). If you want HIDs, retro a set of projectors or don't bother.

i understand you 100% on the 7 inch boob lights, i guess i will also make my own.
i'd rather cut material from behind the lights rather than having them stick out more than stock.

I have 6k Super white Hid Kit, it's awesome, plus a few more Bright leds in the front.
Thats a pretty big projector. How much brighter does it make the beam, or the light itself?
igorg003 1 year ago
@igorg003 it doesnt change the light output, it shapes it to a nice tight beam pattern, instead of nasty glare
beast12101 1 year ago
@beast12101 Oh i see.
Thats useful, and how is the outside focus points from the pin pointed focus beam.
Does the surrounding area around the beam, to the sides of the road, become darker then without these
