No it was the band that fired Steven Adler. Slash was among the first ready to fire Adler and the last guy to sign the termination papers was Axl. And Axl didn't make Slash, Duff and Sorum go. It was their own decision. Axl tried to make things work with Slash for years, but Slash wasn't satisfied so he left.

And Axl asked the others to sign over the name of the band, Izzy quit because of Axls dictation, & cuz 2/5 originals were gone the band lost its identity, so Axl was a catalyst in the band falling apart!

There's many reasons why Izzy left, one being the fact that Slash and Duff were always using alcohol or drugs.
