I'm thinking of buying either a 300 xc or a 250 xc, maybe even an xc-w. I came off an 06 YZ 125 and I want more power but I'd still like it to wind a bit. I live in Michigan so our trails are more tight and woods-like. I just ride for fun but I want to hit the Motocross track once in a while as well. What do you guys think, 250 or 300??

A 216 pound bike with a 410cc engine. That would be insane for an enduro bike. Though the xc 300 doesnt take much to be awsome at motocross too.

@Christian8507 250SX is pure motocross. Stiff suspension and top end powerband. The 250xc is a wide powerband, like a 4-stroke. The XC is an all around bike; you can do moto, desert, woods, etc. The suspension is not as stiff as SX. The XC-W has a wider gear set than the XC and SX, it has lights, and it is the softest suspension for woods and trail riding. If you are not racing in a class that makes you have a 250 get a 300, same bike but slightly more power/torque.

@TheOfficialKC yea the 300 xc or 300 xcw are so fuckin sick. The only downside is the pipe hangs out so much but a good pipe protector takes care of that problem.

the xc is 216 pounds and the xcw is 221 pounds.

ktm makes the best shit by far in the dirtbike world plus the ktm powerparts options and in the states wwwktmcyclehutt . c o m . makes ktm the best choice for amature riders.

@dangerdave059 from what ive riden 2 strokes are more torque and get through the gears quiker than a four stroke and the 4 storkes are really all about top end there top speed is faster but slower though the gear. I rode both a KX 250 2 stroke and 4 stroke and the 2 stroke was so much quiker that by the time the 4 stroke got to 6th gear the 2 stroke would be toping out so its about what you like and what fells good to you. i hope i helped.

But when im pissed off and agressive...i get my KX 250cc 2-stroke or KX125cc to ride on track.

2-stroke is gas wide open in corners...dont try that with a 450F

What he said... I started with a 92 Yamaha WR200. BEAT THE HELL out of it. Wrecked constantly and bent frame. After about 7 months of aggressive riding, I bought a 09 250 XC-W. This was like heaven. My skills were where I could handle it (once I got used to the throttle). I now have both, but I worship my 250.  I am glad I started the way I did, but I would advise a full year on old bike, as I thrashed the KTM still a little bit at the beginning. HAPPY RIDING!
