As old as this song is (i was just 6 or 7 years old when this came out), It just amazes me when I see stuff that I consider my generations "classic rock" and it still lives on. As with Led Zeppelin and other real classic artist from the 60's and 70's, this music from the 90's will never die.
Haha, I know his name but thanks lol. I figured most people didn't so I wrote bassist so they wouldn't think I was talking about some random guy. But don't you agree? This is like a joke. lol.
Also, how can you fault Rage for adding Cornell? This is when de la Rocha went into musical exile because he couldn't stand where the music industry was headed. So Rage found a new, extremely talented vocalist and went in a new direction. I'm glad audioslave happened and we got some cool music instead of Morello, Wilk, and Commerford dropping off the face of the earth. Now Rage might be coming back, and I'm glad, but I couldn't poke at Audioslave. They're a great band.
but what i meant to say was that the instrumentalists should be banned from playing their instruments ever again because they helped chris cornell completely destroy the song
rage against the machine > audioslave
zack de la rocha > chris cornell
i like soundgarden, but audioslave was a waste of time
listen guys although rage was the only good part of audioslave, chris cornell is an amazing vocalist... come on who here can say they really hate soundgarden.
Are you f***ing kidding me. This is a joke. chriss Cornell is a f-ing autistic queer. This is great, except the singer. Long live rage against the machine. Power to the people!
i was at this concert, seether opened, 30 seconds to mars also, it was awesome and chris cornell did a good job of it, this shouldnt represent him at all because live it really was good
Nah Chris doesn't have that energy that Zack had... It's like a vegetarian burger... has everything else a burger has, except for the fact that the beef is now imitation beef. You can instantly feel there is something missing as soon as you take the first bite =(
he shouldnt be singing RATM songs. this song was written with a messege by a man who cared about that messege. they are NOT RATM THEY NEVER WILL BE QUIT PLAYING RATM SONGS!
Then they shouldn't play Soundgarden songs, either, I'm guessing.
Morello is the same as he was. So are Brad and Timmy. And Cornell has the same views (for the most part) as they do. His style just isn't the same. Give him a break. It's expression of voice and opinion, and it's just as every bit Cornell's song if he has the same ideas. And even if that's not true, it's still Tom's, Tim's, and Brad's. (Every band member contributed to the RATM debut)
Cornell's vocals aren't dead, i actually prefer is low register now. He's found different ways to be good. Don't get me wrong, he'll never be doing Beyond the Wheel, SH2H, or slaves&bulldozers again, but he is in the top 5 of vocalists today. I would say though RIP CC's vocal HEROICS: 1988-1994
ok, like i said, no credibility. I loved Rage, and Zach. But here's the thing, Cornell composed, played an instrument pretty damn well, and is regarded as a lyrical genius. Zach, he's pretty good with a pen too, but he doesn't touch Chris in musical ability. Someday you'll develop a taste in music and you'll come around.
You kick ass. I get tired of people always saying that Chris Cornell isn't anything compared to Zack de la Rocha. I will admit that Rage Against the Machine is one of my favorite bands, but come on. Chris Cornell is very easily a better singer and musician than Zack de la Rocha ever was. Zack wrote some cool lyrics, but as far as talent Cornell has him beat. The way Chris Cornell sings in Soundgarden is amazing, especially in Jesus Christ Pose. He may be the best vocalist ever.
what the fuck does chord progressions have to do with it. De la rocha ia one of the smartest musicians known to this era of music. The influence and the difference he made with such powerful lyrics is great. what the fuck does cornell have to show for whatever he did.nothing. and if iwas zack i would be pissed at the band for playing this song with anyone but me.Chris Cornell = PUSSY
I beleive that Cornell is responsible for pioneering a decade and a half of music, that's a relatively large accomplishment. You are one of those people with no credibility. You mean to tell me that a band that had no chord progressions(pretty simple stuff), and a guy who wrote no music is a musical genius than the man behind superunknown is a pussy?
Really? De la Rocha a music genius, and Cornell a pussy? What equates to a musical genius. Do you know how many chord progressions Rage played? None. How much of Rage's music did De la Rocha pen down buddy?
Aside from fredie mercury, and maybe robert plant, chris is the best vocalist in rock history. He does a great job with sleep now and killing itno, he sounds better than zach too, not as much emotion. And anyone who says zach was the better vocalist has lost all credibility when it comes to views on vocal talent
bands like to play their old songs-the Rage guys prob wanted to do this. If it looks like he doesn't mean it, it's cause he didn't write the song. And finally, Chris is a waay better vocalist/singer; Zach is just a better rapper. He did a decent job.
Dont slap cornell down because he isnt zach. I think its cool that they did the covers, and so what if he didnt sound just like zach, go to a bulls on parade concert if it makes you lose that much sleep at night kid.
ok its no zack nd 4 nybody tinkin bout a ratm reuoin it was never goina happen! but cornell does it well nd fair play 2 him bcos its far from his style of music!
I think that 3/4 of RATM were eager to play those tunes again. They're happy to do so, and Cornell just follow. He's doing it well, though, even though he's not ZDLR, never meant to be.
Not bad. But Chris Cornell, even if he was in Soundgarden, who I uterlly respect, he can never replace the genius and bad ass that is Zach De La Rocha.
This was actually a pretty awesome performance. Sure, its not Zach -- he chose to leave the band, but Audioslave is still doing what lots of old Rage fans want to hear regardless.
Chris puts his own vocal spin on it here, and it sounds pretty cool. I love the part right after the chorus when he screams "control". Tom's solo is awesome, as always.
Cornell is a great singer but he trying to 'rap' as Rage's singer? Dude, stick to singing ballads and hard rock songs, NOT politcal songs!!!! Especally Rage songs. Leave that to Zack!!!
this is very embarassing, you dont get much whiter than chris cornell, look how he defiantly sticks his middle fingers up, christ! Zack meant it 100 percent when he sang those songs and gave them such an energy, maybe this wouldve been ok ive cornell stayed backstage and let the audience sing, rather than skipping around like a pub rocker
Audioslave doesn't legally need Zack's permission to perform any of RATM songs. So they can cover all the RATM songs they want. From what I have heard, Zack is not on speaking terms with the other guys. Which sucks 'cause that means no reunion :(
I feel like I just caught my wife screwing another man. I am sure they asked Zach if he minded, he probobly said yes to be polite. I wonder if it bothers Chris that the crowd goes nuts at a rage tune, but clap politely at a Soundgarden song. I hope so.
I wonder if Zack would be willing to try to be there whenever they cover Rage songs, lol. I wonder if he's even talked to Tom, Brad, or Tim since Rage's split.
I loved RATM and I liked Soundgarden. When I heard about Audioslave, I refused to even give them a chance. Finally I listened to them and even downloaded a couple of their songs.
