  • Dont they all have that service engine soon light on.lol

  • Google Borg-warner T-56 transmission, wiki article has a wealth of info on I D tags from Aston Martin, Mustangs, Vipers, to torque ratings and gear ratios. It shows how 96-98 1st & 2nd gear ratios counteracted the rear axle ratios for traction 3rd and 4th let the rear diff come into play. They express what I said as .50:1 same as 1:2 4th is 1:1 so IF YOU HAD THE HP to reach redline in 6th your car would go twice as fast as redline in 4th.Trans ratios can customize each gear to your needs, DB

  • SERVICE ENGINE SOON

  • might wanna rebuild your motor if you wanna add anything thing to it,to increase horsepower otherwise it wont last much longer.my buddy has a 98 ls1 camaro it had about 96k he did alot to it then the motor blew

  • i thought stock 6 speed camaros had 3.42 in it from the factory.....i must be mistaken....

  • @UBeesh10 they do

  • 3.42 gears get to 60 faster

  • Yea just ignore the MIL's

  • not bad. Pushin 40 to 120 just a hair quicker. that Z06 intake manifold does do wonders tho.

  • Either your shifting sucks or this car is slow. My auto LS1 is much faster.

  • @Quatermain98526 Maybe in this video but these do 5.2 0-60 stock with the slower automatic.

  • @IDontHateOnCars You're right. My '01 Z28 with an A4 did 0-60 in 5.2 seconds exactly, all stock.

  • more like 6 seconds

  • with a better clutch the rpms wont drop as much

  • Clutch is weak and starting to slip

  • I have a 2001 Z28 automatic 4 speed. Do I have the 2.73 gears or 3.23? My MPG on highway is 25 or 26, depending if that helps.

  • @Quatermain98526 3.23 is what they came from the factory with, a 6spd had 3.42

  • @NUNPUNCHER714 I know some Camaro's got the 2.73 gears. Which ones got those?

  • @Quatermain98526 I've never heard of them coming with 2.73 gears... You must know something I dont! I'll look into it a little bit.

  • @NUNPUNCHER714 I had heard on a Camaro forum that the LS1 Z28's came with 2.73 and the LS1 SS's came with 3.23. I have no facts to back this up, it's just what I had heard and come to believe. I'm still trying to figure out if my '01 Z28 has 2.73's or 3.23's, I'm really not sure.

  • @Quatermain98526 Look for GU2, 2.73s or GU5, 3.23s on the drivers door should be the RPO listings. You can also note where 1st gear shifts under WOT mph and compare at f-body.org gears page

  • @Quatermain98526 Also... SS cars all had the 3.23 but Z28s had option of either. Just so you know. :)

  • @S8ER01Z I've owned several SS Camaros and they all had 3.42 gears. 2 LT1s and 1 LS1.

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE I should have been more clear...automatics were 3.23s, manuals were all 3.42. Z28 models (automatic) were 2.73 or 3.23.

  • @S8ER01Z No problem. Peace.

  • my camaro does 100 in 3rd.. WITH AN LS1 INTAKE!! haha ls6 intake is hype

  • @jc2312004 Yeah, they come stock on the 01 up SS and Z28s. If you want a real upgrade for your money get a F.A.S.T. 92mm!

  • Comment removed

  • @cozzey05 YA well ... ITS A BORG WARNER T-56 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION BUDD! 100 in 3rd.. GO for a ride in a REAL car

  • @jc2312004 really? Check my videos and thank again about that last comment. 100 mph in 3rd does not mean the car is fast. You still do not understand how this shit works. You get shorter gears and you accelerate FASTER. Look at the LS1 with an auto and 2.73 gears, it hits about 95 in 2nd gear but if you put 3.73 in the same car you'll probably be towards the top of 3rd at 95 but you'll get there a lot quicker.

  • @cozzey05 agreed i mean yea my B16 bubble does 93 at the top of 3rd lmao

  • LS1 F-Body: The Ideal Modern Sports Car.

  • tht is pretty good but bro if you wanna get good performance out of your engine get some better heads like 241, or 243 heads...

  • what gears are the best if ur lookin 2 keep good mpg?

  • you would be very happy with a 3:73 for a DD. i promise

  • that intake really wakes the motor up!

  • @musicofthesoul85 That intake adds 10HP, it barely does anything.

  • get a taller diff. you wont regret it

  • if anything i will go to a 3:43. It is my DD after all.

  • its a 3.42 stock

  • That it is... When I first got it I did the watch the DS per rotation thing. Guess my measurements were off. Thanks for the correction.

  • I installed 389 and I wish I went with 410

  • @71Camaro98 You should already have 342s stock man. That's what mine has stock.

  • @71Camaro98 you wont regret 3.73........i promise

  • got 3.73s in mine (DD) No regrets and mpg's are still good. Just my .02

  • @71Camaro98 I had a bone stock 2001 SS, ram air started working well enough @145 to wake up wife, she glanced at speedo went back to sleep I held it a few more seconds till a little over 155, car was pulling hard I do wonder where it would have topped out at. As for changing gears going lower will give you quicker 1/4 mile times but traction will become tricky off the line, tops out in 5th IF it would redline in sixth it would be about 270 as 4th is 1:1, 6th is 1:2 I'll check trans ratios and see

  • my old PT Cruiser would just be hitting 47 MPH!!!

LOL I rented a black turbo PT and it was pretty fast! raced an old chevy truck with a 350 I guess, starting off from a stand still the chevy started pulling a little bit, then my pt went past him, this was a really slow race....wtf. lol

  • Hey what else do you have done to your car? Where did you pick up your ls6 intake? Is it worth the money and effort?

  • slow. but mines slower. lol

  • just under 5 second 0-60 is by no means slow

  • @98camaro1 Howd you get under 5 sec? I counted 6 sec

  • ur counting to fast use a timer i got 5.32 seconds

  • @98camaro1 yea def 6 seconds

  • @98camaro1 check out my video of my 01 z if you wanna see a factory a4 monster.

  • LS1tech(dot)com for anyone interested in one of the best GM forums. Very helpful people and it has parts/vehicle classifieds as well if you want parts for any of your LS/LT/etc series vehicles.

  • Is the SES light on cuz of no EGR?

  • Yep, no AIR or EGR

  • haha nice. but how will you pass smog?

  • well, some places don't require emissions .. I happen to be in such a place right now. But I will get the codes tuned out and there will not be an issue afterword...

  • hmm...so you are saying that if you just get the codes tuned out you can pass a smog test?

  • well it depends on how strict your state is... No codes will be thrown if you get them tuned out. As long as you are running cats you should be ok on the smog, unless you live in Cali.

  • so whats the advantage of deleting your EGR or AIR?

  • Simply cleans up the engine bay... no real rhyme or reason other than that.

  • @71Camaro98 it could also be said that that deletes a possible thing to break/replace in the future too, saving aggravation and $

  • @71Camaro98 and your not resurclulating exhaust gasses back into the intake.

  • It does clean up the engine bay but the EGR delete also reduces a ton of carbon buildup because it's getting clean air all the time instead of burnt air. If you unbolt the EGR pipe that goes into the top of your intake manifold and look inside of the hole at the end of the pipe you'll see why removing it is a good thing if you don't mind your LS1 being unnoticeably less fuel efficient.

  • who cares about smog? heh just go buy a sticker from someone if you know anything about cars...

  • or just steal one haha

  • gears seem realy small whats your final drive 4.10?

  • Negative... Just a stock 3.23 rear end.

  • My 01 camaro ss do 180 KM/H in 3rd gear and W/O any mdification!!!

  • your point?

  • Damn 120mph in 4th? Thats crazy. Nice.
