Wiremod - Highspeed Ranger

I know this is ancient, but any chance you could give a brief rundown of the compenents of this device? I would love to make a rocket that uses this to do a heightmap scan when it reaches a certain altitude, but this whole scanning thing confuses me. Never understood these screens that display stuff, but I understand logic fairly well. Or perhaps you could point me to a tutorial for something similar that someone else did with a regular ranger.

Actually there is a color '''wire camera'' around, which uses the exact same principle, but just like with the GPU (which would be a vastly better option for this kind of scan, if possible to implement) i have absolutely no clue how it works.

Well it's not really a color camera, it simply takes the color from the entity it hits + distance "darkness"

It's a RANGER not a camera, it only scans for how far the points is away.

You could use that in wm_bankvaultbeta as a motion-activated security cam, just add all of the pixels together and take the delta of them then check to see if the delta chip is not equal to zero.

Maybe you could even use three of them combined with a hologram emitter and make a 3d model of the object your scanning.
