I thought it was interesting that the Linus Balloon lasted till 1991,,Though many who would see mit today would have no idea who the character is on the balloon because Linus has been off TV so lon
The video response is something I just uploaded yesterday, home movies my father took of the 1964 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, which thanks to this I just learned was the first appearance of the Linus Lionhearted balloon.
Hoiyt Curitn moonlighted on this series..yeah, "sygo7g", the earlier verison is longer. This confirms my beflief as to the order of the sequences..this is what I saw in 1975 reruns (6 years after its last network run in 1969) and there was a "breakfast" closing scene....in later seasons.
I always wondered who that balloon was supposed to be of. It was much cooler-looking than the ones they have now. I find Dora the Explora or Mike Meyer's friendly Scottish Hulk character to be unappealing.
The city of New York enacted new laws on the size and type of balloons in the parade after the "Sonic the Hedgehog" and the "Cat int he Hat" balloons crashed into light posts and injured bystanders from the debris.
I guess the sponsors for the Linus float didn't want to bother spending money to create a whole new balloon under the new parameters.
A year later Underdog would have a Macy's balloon and an episode Simon Says No Thanksgiving to celebrate it.

Love that Sugar Bear. Very Bing Crosby-ish.

Kind of a hybrid of both Dean and Bing.
