Supposedly african grey parrots are the most adept at reasoning and abstractions, and it'd be interesting to see how far you could get with one. I don't have the time to train mine like that, but I'd try if I did.
Thanks for replying so fast, i just wathced most of your videos Kili is really very smart.
Yeah I am going to try to teach other tricks first, but at the same time try to make my bird trust me by trying to make him turn on his back and just cuddle him. I think that may work!
how long did it take you to teach her this trick she has many great tricks i also have a senegal and i want to teach hi to do tricks tho itll have to wait a little bit he is only a baby and can only click he is starting to talk a little bit
amazing training. Ive watched a lot of your videos.. ive had parrots before.. smaller ones... so i know how much work goes into this... really really good training. genius with the clicker.. never thought of that. i will use it one day when i have another parrot.
That's extremely incredible. Mine has done some of the foraging puzzles made for greys and that, but I don't think either of my Senegals are that apt. You really are a good trainer, must have lots of patience.
I LOOOVE birds! I have a Quaker Parrot named Sammy that I brought home when he was only 3 weeks old. The day he turned 4 weeks old I used some "parrot blocks" to show him different colors. I said the color of each one aloud as I showed it to him 3 or 4 times and then, out of curiosity, held up 2 different colors and asked him to choose the green one. And HE DID!! I repeated this exercise more than 10 times switching the colors and asking him to pick a new 1 ea time. He DID IT flawlessly!
Very well done! Teaching a parrot to do a simple puzzle is a good way to stimulate their minds and help their intelligence. I wish more parrot owners would put the same effort into their birds as you do!
I agree!! Parrots have the ability to be on the social level of a toddler and can be as intelligent as a 5 year old child! Exercising that intelligence is great for them and they have fun learning, too! My Quaker loves to show me how smart he is! Just like a kid saying "Look what I can do mommy!"
i have a cockatiel that i am currently training and i don't know if you can help me but my cockatiel ussually bite me when i put my hand near him i dont know how to mnake him stop biting and ive had him for 2 yrs plz help
That's amazing your bird is really smart. i have a pair of Conure and Cockatiels and i wish i could teach them to do tricks like these.. do you have any teaching books on how you've done it on your bird. 5 Stars
I have two cockatiels and a parrotlet right now. My 'tiel somehow learned one colour, and when ever she's with me I say "what's your favorite colour?" and she'll climb off my shoulder and she goes to a scarf we keep on the desk down stairs and she puts her beak against it. She likes the colour teal. So I let her know the colour. I wonder if she sees it like I do. :/

Great job teaching it that. We teach our birds a lot of stuff, and we plan on doing this once we get the correct items.

@myjg123456 You can never be too careful, many many parrots are abandoned and or neglected.
AwesomeM3000 6 months ago
@myjg123456 If you don't know how much they cost, Then you clearly need to do way more research before you even think about bringing one home.

I plan on getting one when I'm older.
I have two cockatiels and a parrotlet right now.
