  • c'mon wayne, can't even remember some of the lyrics!

  • *DOES NOT!!! just smoked...

  • This cover dose not suck! Imagine if you were there live. You could here more bass guitar and be blasting like the velvet underground. :D I love what Steven is doing too. Looks so fun!

  • @EichDean

    That is not irony.

I would know, I have a doctorate in english.

  • I applaud any recognition of Yo La Tengo's genius. That said, this cover is sort of a bummer.

  • @jacobkpaul Agrred...

  • Pure stupidity. Ironic how popular Flaming Lips are compared to Yo La Tengo, who are 10000000 times better.

  • @EichDean damn right hahah

  • Terribly bad

  • this is the difference between a jam band and yo la tengo

  • i like YLT, i like FL, i don't like this cover

  • Sounds to me like 6 minutes of playing one chord. Good work, guys!

  • As a Yo La Tengo fan and an even bigger Flaming Lips fan, I must admit this is a very bad cover. Only the Lips would take 7 and a half minutes to do a 3 and a half minute track.

  • @Burglekutt90 Not true -- When he plays live, Captain Sensible often slips a ten-minute guitar solo into the middle of the Damned's two-minute punk song "NeatNeatNeat"!

  • the Lips are one of the hardest working bands out there. if you think Wayne is a "prick" youre most likely 16 and think arcade fire is better than Led Zeppelin.

  • hahaha this is dogshit

  • terrible

  • Wayne Coyne must be the biggest prick in the independent music scene right now. This is such a god awful cover that it actually upsets me. I don't understand how they actually thought this piece of shit was worth sharing with others. Him and his lame ass band botch the words, leave out the bridge and add some bogus "experimental" string section and fans all over slobber over it. If you actually find entertainment out of this video, please listen to the original for Yo la Tengo's sake.

  • @CityOfDaughters

biggest prick that makes some of the most relevant rock albums of our time? Emryonic comes out decades after the Lips inception and it still breaks ground. It is up there with Radioheads OK-Computer.

  • @KingMushroom His albums haven't been the slightest bit ground breaking since The Soft Bulletin. And I'd be very shocked if Embryonic was respected, let alone remembered, for nearly as long as OK Computer.

  • @CityOfDaughters Meh still a poor argument against the guys. I've listened to every 'modern' indie band under the sun and they still cant keep up with the FL. Ok-Computer is much more accessible ofcourse. Each to his own, Yoshimi was a true masterpiece in my mind.

  • @KingMushroom Well, King Mushroom, I think we could talk about this for a long, long time. But Destroyer is the king of modern indie and The xx is showing promising signs! But promise me you'll tell Wayne to wear some suits that fit...

  • glad to see drozd is doing well. :DDDD

  • Would have been nice if he'd bothered to learn the words or the f***in bridge of the damn song.

  • I would like to hear it with proper sound... here it sounds horrible, but it must be fantastic.. If somebody has recorded it, please upload it here!

  • Yeah, for me this is a pretty shit cover of a great song but all the same it's interesting. It actually takes everything that is great about the original and fucks it away, namely the momentum of the tune (for me at least).

  • The most embarassing seven minutes and thirty-one seconds i've ever seen. Between his dumb monologue intro to the "experimental" string section it was complete shit. Just an all around horrid rendition of a great song.

  • @ivorycoastworldcup

    HAHAHAHHAHAHA

  • Rock on Wayne and Flaming Lips!! F@ck the nay-sayers!

  • this is crap. sorry.

  • @barberb8q You weren't there. It was incredible and full of life and the energy was amazing.

  • @bandslikelauren i'm sure it was. i'm a big fan. but experienced on youtube - it's crap. sorry

  • chills

  • go to 3:17 if you just want to hear the music, and not the banter.

  • These days I feel like Wayne is more concerned about the sound of his own voice than the music

  • @kcaccidental what makes you think that?

  • @jakem11 @ZangVsLang He starts out every song with a 5 minute monologue, this time delaying at least twice to babble on more about the song. I've seen them twice, and they manage to get in about 9 songs in 2 hours.

Besides, anyone who's heard Yo La Tengo's version knows that this cover truly sucks. It kills every bit of raw energy and emotion in the original.

  • @kcaccidental .... Not true at all. He was VERY involved.. I was a violinist onstage. They are all righteous guys and all about the music!

  • @SarahlizBrown They probably are great guys, and I know Wayne is very involved and ambitious, most artists fall short on ambition after 3 albums. Its just that most concerts dont involve 40 minutes of stage banter. He actually seems more comfortable and expressive before the songs starts. The band wants to play, Wayne!

  • @kcaccidental What would even possibly make you say that? When has Wayne ever cared about the sound of his voice? He cares about emotion, and it's obvious in every song he sings.
