  • I can sum this video up in one word: Beautiful. Love the A380

  • I want to see one...

  • i'm from singapore!!!!

  • NICE TAKEOFF SOUND! AMAZING!

  • Love the sound of the A380 take off.

  • Ooohhhh, she's a big girl 0.o

  • Hey, was the co pilot in this aircraft!!

  • landing gear was up very early btw i vote fora380 not the crap b747

  • @soiced223 Yeah that crappy B747...the most successful commercial aircraft ever built. It's a masterpiece my friend, a masterpiece.

  • AWESOME

  • That plane is so big, surprised at it's take off. must be extremely powerful...

  • i watched this video 100 times :) some chills go up when I heard that sound ;)

  • how long is a flight from Heathrow to Singapore using an a380?

  • @mbaehner On a boeing 747-400, i remember it was around 13hours, on a A380, about an hour less.

  • It is huge as a whale yet can soar as gracefully as a bird :/

  • Any other U.S. airports other than LAX or JFK accomodate the a380?

  • @mbaehner San Francisco, Chicago, Washington to name a few.

  • @mcpcshowcaseHD do you know if Toronto Pearson Airport can? thanks

  • @mbaehner Miami International Airport do as well.

  • Flughafen Frankfurt? Right.....

  • what a beautiful plane!

  • for the size of that beast i don't find it loud at all

i wonder what would happen if it aborted take off? smash in to the cars on the road?

  • Still doesn't compare to the Antonov AN-124-100 that flew over my house with full power.

But nice airplane but I am still Boeing man

  • It's all been rated by decimals. Sorry for the essay. If there is another source that says different, I'd be more than happy for the info.Peace out

  • So as Trent 800's are noisier than B747's with GE or PW engines, it gives the A380-800's Rolls Royce Trent900 engines the 2nd or 3rd loudest takeoff in the world...for a commercial airliner. I dont know about the Russians. On landing however, 747-400 PW is the loudest, just beating RB211's, then it's the B777-PW(The hum is incredible), Then B777-RR, Then A340-RR, then A330-RR, then A330-GE, (Catch my breath), Then B747-GE, A340-GE, A380-RR n the A330-PW, B777-GE and A380-GP come somewhat after!

  • --------Singapore, Lufthansa and Qantas's A380's Trent900 are louder than their fellow rivals, Emirates and Air France A380's EA-GP 7000. And despite the claims that they are quiet (in a way which is true), Trent 900 are as noisy as a B777 with Trent800 engines.

  • You guys can't really say the 747 is louder. Be more specific.

RR RB211-H Doesnt moan on spool and ROARS on takeoff with a quiet whistle.Eg-BAW

RR RB211-G n HT both moan on spool, growls on takeoff but whistles louder.Eg-SAA

GE CFM-80 Whistles on spool, Has the loadest whistle of any aircraft current and growls a tiny bit.Eg-VIR

PW 4056 has a messy sounding spool, has a loud moany kind of roar on takoff with a whistle to match.Eg-UAL

BA 747's are loudest airliner period-----------

  • was this filmed 1st june 09?

  • @BaliNights It probably would have been yes.

  • my ambition is becoming a pilot... and hopefully i can drive that airbus!!

  • @ayongbadboy Well one of ur 1st lessons is to understand that you cannot drive a plane.Lmao.lol. You fly a plane. Its good that you wanna become a pilot. Commercial, private or military? If you do go commercial and hold a "CPL", and want to fly the big boys and girls then go with an Asian airline. Western airlines will make you start off on nothing bibber tha a B767/A300 and thats if your lucky. And even then, it will most likely be cargo...(Martinair). I'm going with Cathay 777. First officer.

  • For me, that was speechlessly big!

A380 WAS the latest aircraft made by Airbus.

Love the roar of the RR 900 engines (Rolls-Royce Trent 900)

  • Singapore airplines is the best I've tryed. Lufthansa is also really cool, and Philippines Airline, and KLM, those airlines are really really nice.

  • beautifull sound start at 0:25...

  • 747 has smaller engines which make a loud whistle sound...jus like....u can whistle

    with ur mouth opened small....

a380 much more quieter coz it has huge rr engines....

u cant whistle so loud if ur mouth is opened big....

  • man those a380's are big!

  • wow...loved this..cant wait for the A380 to fly from manchester....

  • when the a380 comes over my house(im under a flight path for heathrow) it sounds deep and no where near as load as the 747-4, i always know its the 747-4 just by how load it is, and i can tell an a380 because it a thundery sound

  • I live under the flight path and this plane is very quiet. When it comes in for a landing you hardly notice the noise. When it takes off it is also noticably more quiet than other planes.

  • Love it

  • I`ve travelled that plane. It was awesome

  • THE BEST! WHAAA TAHT'S A NOISE! This guy's the best one in here so far! Well, this is my personal opinion.

    Cheers :)

  • is airbus quieter than boeing or boeing is quieter than airbus

  • The Airbus A380 is much quieter than the 747-400 and all other Boeing aircraft up to the 777. The Boeing 787 and 747-8 will be equally quiet or better than the A380, however the A350 may be quieter still.

The noise comes down to the technologies within the engines themselves and they're manufactured independently to either Airbus and Boeing.

  • Its quite loud from the outside,

  • Believe me. When a 747 goes over its much much louder. The 747 engines seem to make a screeching noise which can be unbearable at times.

  • @mcpcshowcaseHD

A Saudi 747 (probably as old as me, I'm 42) took off in ADANA/TURKEY to ferry pilgrims and the trembling noise it created was glass-shattering...! It was a short 747, though. Maybe an SP or an old 747-200

Thanks for the excellent videos! Good job!

  • @tanergode, You saw 747sp then, because Saudi Arabian airlines fleet do not have the 747-200's, it's -300's and -400's. But the Saudi Arabian royal fleet has the 747sp.

  • Comment removed

  • Don't forget though, when the plane is taking off it is using a high power setting to get itself off the ground.

As the A380 approaches it will sound quite noisy, but as soon as it is overhead and/or passed by the sound drops dramatically.

I was directly under a QANTAS A380 on saturday and the sound is much more muffled than the 747, very easy on the ears.

  • @mcpcshowcaseHD Could you tell me how is it that Singapore banked right instead of left please. I'm puzzled because I usually see it turn right to approx 60-70degrees to climb over Ealing and West London. or was it going on toJFK from Changi via Heathrow?

  • I think I'll agree with zeesham. Im as big an A380 fan as they come, I think it's a spectacular aircraft and in many ways the future of airtravel, but not quieter from the outside than B747-400. Then again, it's about 160 tons heavier

  • beautiful takeoof

  • Yeah thats a good point. There's no complaining about the noise here though :)

    Thanks for the reply

  • These "quiet" engines aren't fooling anyone! They make an incredible noise. First time I saw the A380 take off I heard the engine noise in my head for days!

Great video. I love this spot at Heathrow. Great for apporach shots too.

  • They are quieter compared to other engines. When the A380 is climbing though the engines are going to be working harder, but again comparisons with other engines show them to be much quieter. Its been scientifically proven.

  • 0_o, not very quiet

  • if delta ever comes out with the a380 i will fly it. maybe in like 5 years they will have the a380 lol.

  • I doubt Delta will ever go for the A380. Delta has a Gentlemen's Agreement with Boeing to only purchase Boeing Aircraft. The Airbus aircraft Delta now have where due to the merger with NWA. Never say never, but unlikely.

  • ohhh well they have an a330

  • Yeah. I've seen it a few times at Heathrow. They got them through the merger with North West Airlines and may eventually replace them. Fingers crossed they won't, because the Delta livery really suits the A330.

  • oh yeah the delta livery in the a320 and a330 is reallllyyyy nice.

  • because the380 looks like a heavy plane does it need more runway to tke off from or is heathrow's length of runway just fine?

  • The A380 can use any runway that the 747 can use. Surprisingly the A380 seems to take off much quicker than a 747 because of the bigger engines and much bigger wings.

  • wow thats is surprising! thanks :)

  • That is not entirely true. The airport in Zürich needs to reinforce an underpass under the landing zone of the runway and needs to replace antennas for the ILS system in order to be A380-ready.

  • Naturally if the runway crosses a road etc it would need to be reinforced, however the A380 (thanks to the increase in number of wheels) displaces its weight the same as a 747 - it could be the reinforcements at Zurich are unrelated.

In terms of items close to the runways such as signs etc these would inevitably have to be relocated because of the A380's massive wing span - the outboard engines tend to hang over the very edge of the runway. However the runway itself does not need modification.

  • It's true that pavement loading is comparable to the 747, but overall load is much more, so the runway modification at Zürich are related. It's an oddity of course, only few runways have underpasses, but it's not as easy as saying every runway a 744 can land on can also handle an A380.

  • Those aren't RR engines isn't it?

  • They are Rolls Royce :0)

  • That is not a nice video ... it is an awesome one. Outstanding view. Congrats :)

  • Ah I See! Thanks Alot!

  • Love ALL your video's man! But does anybody know whats faster the A380 Or the 747-400?

  • The Boeing 747 travels at between 567-614mph (Mach 0.85-0.92).

The Airbus A380 travels at between 587-634mph (Mach 0.89-0.96)

The speed is determined by the weight etc and how fast the airline wants it to travel at. The slower it goes the less fuel it burns over the same distance.

    Hope this helps!

  • I dont think M0.96 is certified for passenger travel though. The A380 was tested at that speed, probably to have a safe margin between the cruising speed and the speed where highspeed buffetting would start, but it's not a certified cruising speed.

    Most aircraft cruise at M0.83 - M0.85

  • Hey mate . can you say me where you filmed this ? At Myrtle Avenue ?

  • This was filmed at Myrtle Avenue when runway 09R was in use. This runway is only used when the wind is blowing in a westerly direction though.

  • Great stuff - wish that you could produce some DVD's

  • Really nice video, I hope you plan on doing more! I love your HD resolution mate. Your videos are among the best A380 videos I have ever seen! Please keep up the good work, it's really appreciated!

    Thanks a lot!
