Oooh Father Johnathan says 97% of Americans believe in God. He didn't speak to all the Americans or the statistic collators the same way Mr Maher didn't consult with the bishops etc.
Science has the answers to all these things, old books just guess in order for people to feel comforted that someone knows. In biblical days people believed anything, little has changed.
