I'd love to hear this amp turned up a bit. It's hard to hear the character of the amp at such a low volume. Also, how does it sound with the preamp turned down a bit (cleaned up)?
sounds like an AM radio. Whats the point in displaying it sound this way...its like... check out Angelina Jolie though this window covered in mayonnaise
@Rizzy55 - I's not that bad. You can tell that, IN THE ROOM, it totally has that 80's sound. It's obvious that his video camera's mic lacks the headroom & bandwidth to really hear what's going on. If you were there in the room, it would be shakin your pant legs and sounding wicked.
That's not the jose deluxe mod cuz i have one from the man himself. He never put aboost toggle switch on his amps and always had effects loops. All though Jose 's effects loops usually sucked.
Dude I just bought a Marshall 1987x because of these type of tones right here... GOOD SHIT man it sounds good! I might be sending mine off to voodoo now lol, your giving me more "GAS"
sounds great man.did the boost mod from voodoo help a lot.I was thinking of sending my B52 at-100 to them to get the gain boost mod.I play alot of metal.keep rocking bro
Say what you all want, my brother-in-law rocks on the guitar!!! I've sat in on him jamming out and the man knows his guitars! I don't know about guitars or amps and all that but I've heard him play since I was little and it's crisp and he doesn't need sheet music to play (plays by ear). Five stars all the way dude!!!!
This amp doesn't sound like a JCM800. I own an original and had it modified as well for many years. I did have it brought back to stock though. I also own an SLX which can crunch the balls of a bull but this doesn't sound like that either. I think it does sound like a killer modified plexi! I think the thin sound is the guitar. I'd like to hear a nice Gibson thru that thing I bet it would roar!!
i wish i could say this sounded awesome, im trying hard to like it, but to me this is just a very expensive JCM00 in a plexi case. the only mod this amp ever really needs is a master volume, and maybe a reverb or tremolo
He should have saved him the trouble of buying the amp and sending it in to get a mod. The amp doesn't really sound a plexi at all. he should of just bought a jcm 800 thats what this amp sounds like to me. waste of a plexi
I dont think it sounds like a JCM800, this one lets through much more of the string in the sound and is voiced differently.
Also, in order to get this sound in a JCM800 you would need the same type of transformer, which would mean slaughtering a plexi to get a transformer for tje JCM800.
Hi ,very nice jose sound, which 1959 ? is it the pcb reissue, how essential is the isp is it really noisy without it.
how does the amp sound cranked does it hold together ? or does it get loose or thin out, your amp sounds spot on for the jose compared to other clips ive heard especially as its not w/d/w ,I just got a cameron plexi reissue with the aldrich mod, also an amazing sound, the jose mod is next on my wish list although I dont think I would go with voodoo as Im in the uk,cheers

I think it's fucking rediculous to take this amp....which costs like 2000 bucks, and let some dillwill "mod" it to sound like everybody ele's "modded" amp. I have one of these and I like it totally stock. It's got an awesome clean tone at lower volume and crunches just fine at louder volume....if i want that "modded" stack tone, i plug in my Boss Metal Zone 2 or Zoom pedal and get all the modded tones i want....it's stupid to spend that much money and spend another thousand to do this!!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Uh, why would you want to spend 500 bucks modding this amp to get this tone when you can buy a Zoom pedal that can nail this tone for 60 bucks?????????
I have no patience for amp/guitar videos that either 1) Waste the first 60 seconds showing video footage where I have no idea where this is going, 2) The author spends at least 60 seconds setting you up by describing all about the guitar and/or amp. 3) On a 2 or 3 channel amp, the author starts off demo'ing the clean channel.
I just want posters to stop talking and gimme the goods, then walk me thru the quieter channels, and THEN describe everything.
Did u know thats pretty much the same amp that billie joe from green day used on green day records? Not saying i'm a huge fan of that band or anything but if you wanted you could easily nail that tone. Nice playing btw!
Thanks for positive comments. I have searched high and low for this tone and finally found it. The HG Jose Mod from Voodoo Amplification is the only modification done to this reissue 1959 SLP. The technicians at Voodoo listened to my requests and gave me everything that I had asked for and more! If you are into 80's crunch, ala Lynch, DeMartini, Aldrich, etc. give Trace a call at Voodoo Amps. You will not be disappointed!!
ZR4400, When you say delux Jose Model, what is that exactly? When you originally bought the marshall head, did it come with built in distortion before you modified it. Did you use a distortion pedal on this video clip or is the distortion straight out of the head?
yeah, but if you use a power soak like a THD hotplate or a Dr. Z airbrake it will sound a lot better. If you replace the caps with sozo caps will also sound better. If you put an EQ (midboost) in the front and some delay in the loop will get real nice harmonic overdrive. A LAR-MAR PPIMV to control the volume may help as well.
of course. don't forget the hot plate etc all cost a fair amount money. I have a PPIMV on my super bass. and TeenCretin no one gives a flying fuck if you want this sound or not. The owner does and he has found the tone he likes.
I can fix it if you want.

Doesn't sound that bad but IMO should have left it stock and just bought a quickrod or something like that if this is the sound you wanted.
If that was an original 59 then you probably abolished any hopes of it's collectiblity and/or resale value. Kit amps and re-issues are for modding.
