Well, Im in my 20's. I teach literature at the high school and we happen to have a large Palestinian population at the American public school. The girls used to belly dance for International fest, and call it Palestinian. So I had to step in LOL. Im the person who jumps in at the end. Im glad you enjoyed it :)

by step in, I mean teach them what Palestinian folk dance is-which is NOT belly dancing lol. I used to do this when I was younger. We were taught during the first Intifada and we used to put on performances. So, I put this group together, ordered costumes, I choreograph and teach them. We now perform all over Chicago.

thanks, it's a lot of work coming up with the dances, and then teaching them to 14 girls, but teaching a nonviolent form of resistence against the occupation, as well as our heritage to these girls is worth it for me

This exercise in dance bonds them w/the unknown & brings something new home to their parents where there's been so much bad press.
