i have not downloaded system security but i am getting notifications telling me that i need to download it cause my computer is at risk. then my internet browser will close how do i make this stop? i have vista
You just don't wanna listen to me do you? I can't open anything, I renamed HJT to a different name and it won't open still. Nothing else will open cept IE.
Type system into the start menu search box, and pick the 4th item down, just labeled System. Now click the System protection link: Youll see the checkboxes next to your different disks. Once you uncheck the drive, click the Turn System Restore Off button.
the link given in the description of this video has an article in it. There you will find information on how to deal with such situations, I have listed several freeware tools to repair the problem, please try them
This video has saved me in the past, thank you very very much for that. I have a new problem, however. A friend has the same virus on a computer that shows NO restore points available. What should i do in that circumstance?
The c:\program files\system security entry wasnt in the startup list either. I did try to add/remove it earlier in add/remove programs. could this have something to do with it?
Thank you so much. Most of this worked for me although I had to go into safe mode first to even get to system restore settings then I ran antivirus software in my safe mode. I used Search and Distroy.
When starting up your computer hit F8 repeatedly to start boot options then continue booting computer in safe mode this will give you access to the system restore and also allow you to run your anti virus/malware/spyware softwares the newer version of System Security is even more of a pain then the last one.
thanks for the help srajure. If anyone is having trouble another way to get rid of this is to download maleware bytes rename it as 123.exe then restart your computer and keep hitting F8 then go into safe mode. Run Maleware bytes and delete the infections it finds. Then restart the computer and everything should be ok. Rescan the computer just to be safe. If anyone has any problems message me and I will do my best to help.
nope, my friend said he's going to get me a disk to wipe the whole computer, and i can save what needs saved onto my external harddrive.. I think this should work? can't see anyway round it..
Nothing personal, and your vid showed a lot of excellent detail that should have worked and probably did at one time. You should know though that the this thing has really evolved to the point that absolutely none of you suggestions worked. Amazing really; my daughter's laptop is completely locked up: Taskmanager does not work, msconfig does not work, no browser, I can't even get a dos command line.
I can boot from Ubuntu and tonight I am going to run a web based virus scan using it.
1. Start Windows in safe mode, by tapping f8 before you see the windows icon. select safe mode. or instead of starting in safe mode, you can press CTRL ALT Delete right before security system fires up. you will gain access to some programs
2. go to start>run> and type msconfig
3. go to startup and check off any suspiccious looking items, such as digits: 17520874 under the heading startup item
4. restart your computer. everything should work. scan with antivirus
mine wont let me get in to system restore or any thing it wont let me open IE or open downloaded programs off a usb stick any chance of sum assistance plz
the virus may have disabled. See if you can open the registry editor. Start > run, type regedit, press ok, and see, if the registry editor opens. If yes, tell me, i will tell you what to look for
Initially System Security didn't allow us to open any window. Had issues in opening task manager. So restarted with Safe Mode. And followed your instructions, it worked fine. Thanks again.
I tried safe mode and my processor went into a "core dump"; nothing doing. Only thing that worked was restart normally, but of course, that gets me right back to the virus.
Removal process already worthless. System Security virus has adapted. None of the suggestions in this video work. Use Ubuntu to recover personal files an buy a new hard drive.
yes, it could have evolved, but you have to go through all these steps if you want it to be removed. I am ready to support anyone if they send the HijackThis log
if you ar talking about the scan the rogue app displays, then be assured that it is fake. It will display the same results on whatever computer it runs
Thanks for your help. I just got rid it. However, I may have deleted something I need by mistake. On start-up my systen is looking for 'c\windows\system32\mscyq.exe' and it is also referred to being in the register. Do I need this file?
system restore creates backups of all the programs that are installed on a computer. And it is a well known practice while removing trojans/ rogue applications to Turn system restore Off so that the virus files in its backup are deleted. You can turn it on immediately after you have successfully removed all virus files from the hard disk
This didn't really work for me, but I beat it! Okay this is what you do, you enter safe mode with networking. (clicking f8 repeatedly while your computer opens) Then go to the internet browser, and google malwarebytes, download, and install it, open the program, and scan. And that's destroys that system security crap. I tried it this way and it worked. After that just download the programs srajure suggests, scan weekly. You'll be fine from than. Hope this works and good luck.
some times my computer go to this blue screen where it say's i did this so it won't damage any more saved files say's go to if his shows up agian go out it on safe mode and deletel any new harware
there are free tools for that, i have listed them in the article that is mentioned in the description of this video. See link at the top right, below the subscribe button
Just download Process Explorer....will not let it run either, so you have to rename the file to explorer (to trick virus). It will install then. Find the virus and stop the process (just like task Man.)
Now everything should be unlock to follow the video..... worked for me Good LUCK!!!
Think I've got rid of mine by following Drunken sword and Domellcun's advice. You need to be quick because you cannot delete the folder once the virus has loaded up. I made a shortcut on my desktop to make things quicker. Goodluck
Thank you. At one point I had a complete blue screen. Your video and Domellcun's post help me get rid of this virus. The key is at start up before it has a chance to launch, follow the steps in Domellcun's post . It may take 5 to 6 attempts as the virus launches it terminates the file deletion (in this case it was a file starting with "15" but after some perserverance you will be able to follow the rest of the instructions in this video and completely erradicate this bug. Thanks again.
Guys! i have the virus on my labtop. the thing that helped me was keep hiting F8 when you reboot your computer and hit Last known Sucessful change. This set to a point to were teh virus was in its early stages.. so scan. and do all your stuff you need to do! and on the new Forms of the virus Safe mode will not work.. It keeps on showing this list of infected Files then, Blue screen, then reboot automatically hope this helps =D
DO NOT DOWNLOAD CRACKS FOR PROGRAMS AND SHIT LIKE THAT... THAT'S MY ONLY ADVICE... I KNEW THAT I SHOULDN'T HAVE DOUBLE-CLICKED THE PATCH FOR WINRAR BUT THE CURIOSITY KILLED THE CAT AS WE SAY HERE :)
i spent 5 hours trying to get rid of it following b.s. instructions and got rid of it in seconds. mine was not 19 it was a folder named of several random numbers. but when i looked inside there it was SS. i delete restart and prayed. no SS wallpaper or pop up or anything.
i GOT IT! Go to My computer and there should be a address bar that says "my computer" if its not there then go to "view" then go to "toolbars" and click address bar. then copy and paste c:\documents and settings\all users\application data into the address bar. click
go" then it will bring you to a folder. open the folder where it starts with the two digits "19" open it and you you will see the programs raw file. press back delete that WHOLE FOLDER(the only one with "19". Reply if it worked=]
There is a god !! All i can say is Thank you !! I have spent days on this. nothing. i did what you said and bam. my file wasnt 19 but a set of numbers. looked at the properties from the this crap showeed up and deleted it and bam. i also downloaded a c cleaner and registry also and it worked. had trouble with my internet explorer and aol but its slowly coming back. I also downloaded Avg free and so far so good. Thanks a million. debbie :)
I just killed that virus. If you cant enter anything on normal mode, reset your pc, and when the windows loading screen appears, reset it again so you could enter safe mode. In there - turn off system restore, install Malwarebytes Antimalware and scan your pc. Then delete what you got and restart your computer... When you do that use procexp program to locate this file alg.exe and perma-delete him from your pc. The rest is in here. Thanks for the video 5 stars ;)
i just took mine off. go to safe mode and system security wont pop up and right-click system security icon on the desktop go to shortcut tab and go to open file location then delete everything even the folder and go to recycle bin and empty it. i hope that helps. cause i did that
i have a newer version of this virus i think, i believe this because i dont think ive heard of anyones accounts on this.
i can download different spywares and such, but when i try to run them it wont open, and a pop opens on the task bar, (above the yellow/black security systems emblem) and says that avgrsx.exe is infected,
i also have a WARNING! back ground, and i cannot open the system restore in accesories.
thanks. it seems to work. but i had to use spyhunter to get taskmanager working gain. didn't need the purchase though. and in my case the Security System file was stored under an odd number name in c:\documents and settings\all users\application data .
This is what worked for me. I downloaded Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware. I couldn't open the file because System Sec. wouldn't let me. So.. I downloaded SpyHunter too.. It's this program that's similar to Malware.. It detected the System Sec. but you have to purchase it.. So.. once it detected all of the files, I was able to open Malware and remove all of the files. Hope this helps. It worked for me.
i removed it yesterday using add or remove programs before it wasnt allawing to open it but i dont know how and today i found it i tried to open every thing even the games it wont allow them to open and tells me that they are infected
you can't remove it using add/remove panel. Even if it is not listed in add/remove panel, the files will be still there on the hard disk. Look into the windows startup list for any suspicious entries, particularly names with numbers in it
i just got this virus, i tried going to systems restore but it wont open and it wont let me open the task manager. also i cant run any programs or install any spyware removal tools...if u know anything about this please help me
i hope this works, im using ccleaner now and i even got rid of it by going to start>controll panel>unistall programs, aand i thought it worked....it diddent so i hope this works
Oddly, it let me open Task Manager. I found a bunch of random numbers with no letters in the processes so I ended it. Still hoping that was the virus.
after ending them from the task manager, you need to remove their entries from the windows startup, and then delete the actual files from the hard disk. Merely ending the process is a temperory measure, you might find them again in task manager after you restart the computer
If you cannot open system restore or msconfig, then my recommendation is to delete the application. On my computer (Vista OS), the virus program is stored in C:\program data\ folder, and the name was 10966684.
I had the same problem. The virus indeed disabled task manager, IE, and other software. But this guide still helped me to remove this damn virus as follows:
1) Turn off System Restore
2) (Skip Task Manager section, since you cannot open it)
3) Open msconfig and remove the virus from startup (You may not find "System Security". The virus name is 10966684 on my computer. You may have different name which is a big number. )
i fund this number on my computer13500464. i do have the system security but i controlled using the taskbar when i go to msconfig i fund out that number who can tell me what that is? thank u for ur help
looks like sys restore is working for a lot of people 2. it worked the last 2 times i got some type of crap like this but not on this one good luck to everyone
you might have to go back to safe mode f 8 on start up again. for me it was alot if you can get malwarebytes working it will clean it and its free. just keep trying youll get it. whoever made this virus needs to slide down a tall palm tree and burn their nuts off, because it is a pain in the balls
Hey I have this strange problem ! I got the virus just a few min ago! I turned off my computer. Then I put it on safe mode. I go to run. Msconfig then I click of the program with numbers like this example: 995448. In the startup tab. Then I re-start my computer. And I don't see the virus. But I can't open the Internet browser!! I get errors :( help help!!!

ivetried the malware thing but it donest work cause i get a message saying the adiminstrator wont let. and ive tried system restore but i cant even create a restore point cause i see no option. some one help?
try to run the UnHookExec.inf tool from symantec, there are some more tools mentioned on my site (url) comprolive-com-welcome-tutorials-how to regain disabled task manager
For Vista Users ..... Start ---> Control Panel ---> Backup/Restore Center ---> (Use System Restore to Fix Problems and undo changes to Windows) --> Choose Restore Point ---> OK. Should take 10+ minutes.
Somehow picked this up earlier. Easy fix, took ~15min, System Restore back ~4 hours, everything is fine now. People who create this shit need to be shot. Of the many things "Pathetic" can describe, people who make this shit are near the top of the list.
I tried so many things its pathetic but i remember tapping f8 on start up and going to last known working configuration hit ctl alt delete and was able to scan with malwarebytes updated version quikscan. if you do fullscan windows shut down in30min hv 2 strt over bfore that i right click the sys sec 09 icon go to properties and delete each theres 4 then empty recycle bin, then go2 start go to sys sec 09 and do same thing. goto my computer 2 add and delete programs and delete there 2.
I fucking hate System Security 2009! It wont let me do anything, it counts it as ''infected'' which it obviously isnt. It even counts calculator as infected lolz.
But the thing is, it only affects the admins on my computer. The guests are unaffected. Or.. Less infected. So because it only shuts down everthing in admins I have absolutely no way of deleting this bug. >.>
i need help, i cant open any programs including tsk manager or run. i cant even start my computer up in any of the 3 safe modes, so i cant manualy delete it. cant run a scan cuz the program will close, what should i do
this is crap. when i caught this my computer would look up when i tried to boot into safemode. also it blocked me from opening applications including my browsers and task manager
if you are using XP, try doing a "Repair installation" of XP, it is possible if you have a separate disk/ cd of XP os. Or otherwise be prepared to reinstall windows (but that deletes everything from the primary partition of the hard disk)
i reloaded xp with in about an hour of catching that damn thing. i have an external harddrive that i put all my files on before i did, it just re installing everything i hate.
Do I need to do this in Normal Mode or can I do it in Safe Mode [with Networking]? If I do this in Normal mode than I can't click on anything including the Desktops. Please Answer Back.
Omg this thing killed my laptop, i managed to kill the program, stop it on start up ect, but everytime i searched the folders the whole thing went blue screen on me. i found a diff guide that lead me to the virus in the registry where it showed how to delete and i did but now comp won't start up at all
Hmm... I never would have guessed that it was a fraud program, especially considering that it stops all programs from running, and constantly spams my computer... Oh and you might want to update this video, because I can't even access my task manager or enter safe mode
If i made the virus i'd name the proccess svchost.exe :P (host proccess for windows)

System Security has evolved. The 2009 version blocks all applications and system processes (Task Manager is inoperable).
Re-booting in Safe Mode is your only escape route, but here too, the Trojan infected my computer so thoroughly I opted for a fresh install.
Lost a whole weekend recovering from this.

that is because the viruses disable them. If you can open the registry editor. Look at the following registry keys.

If everything lock on yours like mine!!!
Just download Process Explorer....will not let it run either, so you have to rename the file to explorer (to trick virus). It will install then. Find the virus and stop the process (just like task Man.)
Now everything should be unlock to follow the video..... worked for me Good LUCK!!!
DeRock2008 2 years ago
i do what you sad and it work. But now i must format Local disk E.What should i do?
Please help.

Think I've got rid of mine by following Drunken sword and Domellcun's advice. You need to be quick because you cannot delete the folder once the virus has loaded up. I made a shortcut on my desktop to make things quicker. Goodluck
Loz231 2 years ago

This set to a point to were teh virus was in its early stages.. so scan. and do all your stuff you need to do! and on the new Forms of the virus Safe mode will not work.. It keeps on showing this list of infected Files then, Blue screen, then reboot automatically hope this helps =D

Thanks for the video 5 stars ;)

i cant open task manager system security wont let me open anythng
samboynz 2 years ago
This is what worked for me. I downloaded Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware. I couldn't open the file because System Sec. wouldn't let me. So.. I downloaded SpyHunter too.. It's this program that's similar to Malware.. It detected the System Sec. but you have to purchase it.. So.. once it detected all of the files, I was able to open Malware and remove all of the files. Hope this helps. It worked for me.

i removed it yesterday using add or remove programs before it wasnt allawing to open it but i dont know how and today i found it i tried to open every thing even the games it wont allow them to open and tells me that they are infected
hostagee1 2 years ago
you can't remove it using add/remove panel. Even if it is not listed in add/remove panel, the files will be still there on the hard disk. Look into the windows startup list for any suspicious entries, particularly names with numbers in it

the fake/rogue programs are not considered as viruses, therefore antivirus programs do not track them

Run Windows under Safe Mode. You should see the option to run the computer under special options when it boots up.

Oddly, it let me open Task Manager. I found a bunch of random numbers with no letters in the processes so I ended it. Still hoping that was the virus.
happykoala4 2 years ago
after ending them from the task manager, you need to remove their entries from the windows startup, and then delete the actual files from the hard disk. Merely ending the process is a temperory measure, you might find them again in task manager after you restart the computer
srajure 2 years ago
If you cannot open system restore or msconfig, then my recommendation is to delete the application. On my computer (Vista OS), the virus program is stored in C:\program data\ folder, and the name was 10966684.

this guide is useless. The fucking virus won't let me open task manager. 1 star.
TayR0C 2 years ago
I had the same problem. The virus indeed disabled task manager, IE, and other software. But this guide still helped me to remove this damn virus as follows:
1) Turn off System Restore
2) (Skip Task Manager section, since you cannot open it)
3) Open msconfig and remove the virus from startup (You may not find "System Security". The virus name is 10966684 on my computer. You may have different name which is a big number. )
4) Follow the remaining part of this guide.
Good luck!

you might have to go back to safe mode f 8 on start up again. for me it was alot if you can get malwarebytes working it will clean it and its free. just keep trying youll get it. whoever made this virus needs to slide down a tall palm tree and burn their nuts off, because it is a pain in the balls

For Vista Users ..... Start ---> Control Panel ---> Backup/Restore Center ---> (Use System Restore to Fix Problems and undo changes to Windows) --> Choose Restore Point ---> OK. Should take 10+ minutes.
SeveredFootLoki 2 years ago
Somehow picked this up earlier. Easy fix, took ~15min, System Restore back ~4 hours, everything is fine now. People who create this shit need to be shot. Of the many things "Pathetic" can describe, people who make this shit are near the top of the list.
SeveredFootLoki 2 years ago
But yeah if you have this problem, try "System Restore" you can choose the date/time you want it to restore to, hope it helps.

I fucking hate System Security 2009! It wont let me do anything, it counts it as ''infected'' which it obviously isnt. It even counts calculator as infected lolz.
But the thing is, it only affects the admins on my computer. The guests are unaffected. Or.. Less infected. So because it only shuts down everthing in admins I have absolutely no way of deleting this bug. >.>
does anyone have any ideas?

this is crap. when i caught this my computer would look up when i tried to boot into safemode. also it blocked me from opening applications including my browsers and task manager
flyingfree98 2 years ago
if you are using XP, try doing a "Repair installation" of XP, it is possible if you have a separate disk/ cd of XP os. Or otherwise be prepared to reinstall windows (but that deletes everything from the primary partition of the hard disk)
srajure 2 years ago
i reloaded xp with in about an hour of catching that damn thing. i have an external harddrive that i put all my files on before i did, it just re installing everything i hate.

Do I need to do this in Normal Mode or can I do it in Safe Mode [with Networking]? If I do this in Normal mode than I can't click on anything including the Desktops. Please Answer Back.

it is better if you can boot in safe mode/ with networking. You can also try to run the system file checker utility (sfc /scannow)
