@crossharps Thanks.  I tried to harmonize it minimum to give it a thin texture yet deepness in feeling. I don't know the lyrics in detail but the tune tells me that the Irish women have gone through a lot of things like most countries. The fingernail scatch that you mention reminds me of a door opening into or out of a certain space or some kind of agony maybe.
