Don't you know the secret of the golden pantaloons? You get the Silver pant in Baldurs gate II SoA (and have to port you charater in after completing BG I *WITH* the golden pantaloons in you inventory) and then get the bronze pants in BG II ToB and take 'em all to the Dwarf with the strange machine and he makes you the EBST armour AND ammo in the whole series! A long and tough one but well worth it.
