Hip hop basically has maybe 2 different sounds right now but back in the 90's there were dozens of sounds. Bad boy had a unique sound, Def jam, Death Row, No limit, Ruff Ryders, etc.. all labels who had a very distinctive sound and the artists within the labels were original which made it more diverse. I know i can find artist today who are original but it ain't like what it was...
