I don't think it's just him accepting magic/realizing it can be used for good. It's about uniting the people, whether they have magic or not. That no matter where you come from or what gifts you are born w/, many deserve to be treated like a human being, w/ respect/dignity.

This really was a good scene because I think it is in this episode that Merlin's hope of returning magic back to Camelot is restored as Arthur now plans to treat the Druid people with respect. I felt sorry for both Merlin and Arthur when Uther died at the hands of Morgana's magic because Merlin's last hope seemed to have gone while Arthur was again hardened towards magic.

Well, they need the main character so they can't really torture Arthur beside Arthur has lost enough and he still young and naive when he lead the raid. I think Merlin gaze frighten the spirit and that's the main reason for the forgiveness. if the spirit harm arthur, Merlin will kick his ass!

You people have to realize one that the legend is being followed somewhat here, gwen is banished for adultery in the legend this show is a FAMILY show, so unless they wanted to get in shit by showing sex between lancelot and gwen there was nothing other than a kiss they could manage. In the plot of the forgiveness, the spirit probably just needed peace because arthur needed to confess his sin and wrong doing, arthur had been lying and not feeling bad for what he has done

What a contrived piece of shit for a plot resolution. WTF I hate this show sometimes with hypocrisy trying to sugar coat things to make the men seem all innocent & noble when Gwen gets banished for *gasp* kissing another man! There's so much sexist bullshit!! I swear i'm about to give up on this show all together...

You are not alone! Does BBC realize they could lose fans because of what they're doing to the Gwen character? Very chauvinistic! "Kissing another man" is not a serious offence unlike murdering women and children which Arthur did. Why is it that women always are the ones who end up suffering alone and men have allies and friends to console them when they are lost? I'd like to see Arthur all alone suffering! Too bad BBC won't do it! They like Arthur too much!

Merlin must be very happy about Arthurs promise that the druids will be respected from now on. I think the writers prepare the moment when Arthur will learn what his servant and friend Merlin really is. And they do it in such a good way ! To let Arthur feel his wrongdoings towards the magic people. He deeply regrets it, and he experiences forgiveness. I'm looking forward to the next episodes...

This was so beautiful. Arthur trying so hard to prove himself to his father and thus making a big mistake. The man trying to atone for the mistakes of his youth. Just wonderful. I loved this episode. The acting was superb as usual.

Someone mentioned Gwen needs to redeem herself. Why? She has done nothing to seek redemption. She was innocent the entire ordeal in episode 9. Enchantment, hello?
