Just wonderful. I did these types of prints years ago in college and never forgot the pleasure from pulling a print. Beautiful explanation and presentation!
has anyone here has experience using ferric acid -I want to stat using it in my home studio(in the garage) because it doesn't need a hood and vent. what are the etching times ? how long does the acid last before needing changing and what is the best way to dispose of it?
Ferric acid etching times for copper are anywhere from 1 min-24 and beyond that u just get open biting. But it really depends on the concentration. In my school we use the same acid for about 1 semester (or 3 months) but thats 60 people using the same acid. . .as far as disposial im not sure. I know simple baking soda can neutralize it and i think i can go down the sink then
@Henduri Thanks for the reply, I have since used it, and gotten some nice results, I do neutralize it with baking soda when it's spent but I was advised to still take it to a chem disposal place -pouring it down the drain is still not a good idea though. I have also noticed colder temperatures make biting time longer and vice versa. I do test plates after a few etches and when temperatures change.

cheers for that, about 30seconds after i left that i found out by looking at another video,d'oh........i dont suppose you know what make and brand of inks i could be using for the monos and lino printing do you? ive had to buy a medium that mixes with my system 3d paint but i cant see it lasting that long, the stuff i remember using at uni came in metal tins but i never wrote the names down
can someone tell me what the printing technique is where you lay your ink/paint out on a flat surface, your paper goes on top and you simply draw or trace what you want over the top,,,,when you remove your paper its obviously transfered on to the other side but just where you've made your marks?!?!
my right ear enjoyed this video

Am I the only one that thinks that the metal part looks cooler than the print?
Battezu 9 months ago
@Battezu you are not, this is part of what makes printmaking so cool, people often display the plates.

Can multiple impressions with different colors be used with this technique or is that best suited for block printing?
impdream70 1 year ago
@impdream70 Yeah I'm pretty sure you can just wash the plate and repaint it.

The printmakiner I work with says those are called monoprints, same as if you were using a press.

Does it matter what order you do each step? For example if you want the background a certain tone, could you do Aquatint first?
