@sodear2meee I still give that title to Reggie Cobb, but had Chuck stayed healthy, who knows? That year Cobb would have been a senior and Webb a sophomore, with Tony Thompson as a backup. There's no telling what could have happened.
@shinzu4001 Oh this Chuck Webb here is one of the most talented Running Back ever seen on film, him before the knee injury ! I study Running Backs as a hobby... Chuck was a rare rare talent.
@sodear2meee I'm not going to disagree too strongly,,, I loved Webb. There was something about Cobb's running style that made me like to watch him more. One thing is for sure... we don't have anywhere near that caliber of back on the Hill at present. Not by a long shot.
@volswaff Cobb's SEC freshman touchdown record was still standing last year. Marcus Lattimore for SC may have tied or broken it, but her we are almost 25 years later and it was still holding. His run in '89 versus Auburn is still one of my all-time favorite plays in UT football. It was also the coming out party for just how good the Cobb Webb was going to be. I'll always wonder what happens against Alabama if he was was still on the team and we don't help them discover Siran Stacy. :P
Too bad this guy couldn't play w/a little pain. GB drafted him in 1991 in about the 3rd round & he had kind of a minor knee injury & he couldn't even tough it out & practice. He ended up sulking his way out of football. What a shame.
Wonder when the dorks who make these videos will finally realize that the game broadcast sounds are actually better than their favorite song.
The Chuck Webb highlights are awesome, brought back some memories of that Cotton Bowl. But the music does not work at all. It's just an annoyance distracting from the real reason people click on this.
I remember feeling bad for both teams on defense this day. Neither one could stop the others offense. With Tennessee having the Cobb-Webb attack, Arkansas had Barry Foster, who went on to be a force in the NFL with the steelers. It was a fun game to watch. These two always seem to play great games. It was kind of weird they had only played three times, until Arkansas moved to the sec.
If you think chuck is good. His nephew jody, is doing great in high school. I too got to c play with him in high school. I think it's sweet to c my son getting to play with another webb.
@Saklokus865 , I was thinking Chuck Webb, Travis Henry, and jamaal Lewis, but i never watched Chuck Webb in person because i was too young. I think Travis Henry was under used in college, and Jamaal Lewis was afraid to hirt his knee again.
@Saklokus865 , well now it would be very bad. I was wanting that cat to be sooo good. BUT, i suppose he will be a loser for leaving. I'm glad they didn't grant him a release.
Best back ever to play at Tennessee ! What if he didnt blow out his knee ?
