  • Are You Washed In The Blood of the lamb / I´ll Fly Away

  • i so love this song. tnx for posting this... JESUS LIVES!!!!

  • Powerfull!

  • real

  • edsa 46! only Jesus saves.not our own doing!

  • great hymn! only the Blood of Jesus Saves us from our sins and not our own doing

  • some of the posts- there will never be Christian unity as long as people keep arguing what this or that biblical passage means. satan can quote scripture better than any of us. Jesus wanted unity, don't you think???nursing home where I worked-anglicans, catholics, baptists, we didn't argue, we stood up, and sang beautiful christian hymns that everyone new-gave hugs, and said "Have a great day in Jesus" amennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

  • What an awesome song Alan Jackson is the best

  • I have to say, I prefer the Randy Travis rendition, but since a video of that doesn't exist, this is good too!

  • All these gospel songs remind me of my mom a wonderful singer, mother and a Christian.

  • WE'll Fly Away Some Day!!!!

  • Great

  • to twofiress

you should make a vid for the lyrics to this vid

  • You cant beat Gospel songs! Very inspiring.. People, its time we all give reverence to our maker..

  • what key is this in , i thought it was g . but on my guitar ,it does not work. diff tunings maybe

  • Aman Brother!!!!! Thanks for listening to your mother, when she wanted you to put out this album of good christian music. Something all of you should do.....

  • He is one country singer that sounds good live as well as on cd! :)

  • Thats a tall drink of water...oh la la!!

  • Wonderful! From my favourite CD too. We really need to get back to our roots, with the old hymns of rock-solid Biblical theology!. I grew up listening to these precious songs.

  • I love this one. Uplifting and fun. My kids thought I was weird when I was singing, "Are you washed in the blood of the lamb?" Lol I laughed then explained. Oh, geez, not you flying spaghetti people. My teen is goofy about that. lol Just please don't be disrespectful & put people down--whatever their belief is, even if you don't agree...& it seems that is the sole purpose of the "flying spaghetti monster" stuff, not something healthy to actually open up a dialogue for learning & researching.)

  • kynaaja if you did and had no doubts about you own gods or godlessness. you would not mock God . you would just be content so serve the god you want but for me and my house we will serve the Lord. peace be with you

  • love this song i'll fly away

  • It`s still very strange to me. I do something my father doesn`t like. He kills himself to atone for my wrongdoing. If you put it in human terms, it makes no sense.

  • He dies to pay for our sins because we have to be free of sin in front of God. We have all sinned and he took and currently takes our sins away.

Also, we are human and made of flesh. So it would be weird of MY father killed himself for me. THAT would make no sense.

  • mtriplea : It just makes NO SENSE.

Couldn`t he just forgive, then we are free of sin too in front of God. Why does he have to let himself be killed to atone for our infraction against him. I repeat: makes no sense in human terms.

  • it's the blood of life--as being born again into a new life with Jesus.--and dying to self i.e. it's all about me, myself and I mentality that seems to be most peoples theme song today.

  • @lizazoon I asked you once before: Have you ever had to forgive someone for a serious infraction against you? If so, who paid the cost of that forgiveness? Was it the perpetrator or was it you? Was it as easy as simply saying they were forgiven?

  • He is not a human being but Spirit.

  • "The Bible says that Jesus came on a rescue mission for creation. He had to pay for our sins so that someday he can end evil and suffering without ending us." ~Timothy Keller, The Reason for God: Belief in an Age of Skepticism. Jesus did not kill himself, he walked the earth as a man, he suffered as a man, he died as a man at the hands of other men separated from the Father. God didn't do this just for one person's sins, but for the entire world's sins.

  • WRONG Jesus has the power to take his life and thats what he did as all of man kinds sins were pored out onto him and then he came back fromt he dead 3 days later he was all jesus and all man!

  • @Camo00505 Jesus did not take His own life, He gave His life for us. He prayed to the Father on several occasions to remove the task that lied ahead of Him. (Matt 26:39, Luke 22:41-44). Jesus did not mock, flog, torture, and then kill Himself, those who did these things were men who feared losing their power over the people. Nails did not hold Him to the cross, His love for us did that. Jesus' death fulfilled the law, that does not mean He did these horrid things to Himself.

  • @GodsBlessedBeauty I didnt exactly mean it that way im pretty sure you know what I mean!

  • @GodsBlessedBeauty I didnt exactly mean it that way im pretty sure you know what I mean! I mean he has the power to take up the spirit!

  • @Camo00505 I had no idea what you meant. I do not believe I understand now.

  • @GodsBlessedBeauty thats cool whatever

  • The history of humans on earth, from the very beginning, is violence and death. Every race, every culture, every generation, humans get slaughtered by other humans for the gain and advancement of the violent.

Jesus of Nazereth traded power and riches on earth for the ability to live out and teach the simple message, love God, and his people. He was willing to lay down his life instead of bowing down his knee before men.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.

  • @charles43110 and whosever shall beliveth in him shall not periish but have everlasting life- john 3:16

  • the thief - on the cross

    confession

    and asking

    confession first

if we cannot humble ourselves and confess our sin then our pride rules over us

once we can tell the truth it makes our plea for help honest

Jesus gave a promise to one of the two thieves on the cross beside Him

confession of our sins, one to another, publicly, and crying out to Him because you know without His help you are lost

  • allan jackson does an awesome job on all these old hymns . god bless him

  • you dont get washed then youl go o hell its your choice

  • Comment removed

  • I lived my life in sin for 33 years until i found jesus, if you need the joy and peace then , turn to jesus he alone can give you the peace and for that you have to be washed by the blood of jesus, if you have tried everthing in life and failed , why not try jesus, he sure will never fail.

    sam

  • Who can argue with success ? Have a good life. Unfortunately god gave me a critical brain.

  • you already have--all you have to do is accept it, Jesus died for you, like it or not-its up to you NOT to slap HIM in the face-or let HIM die in vain=

  • joycylu :--Jesus died for you--

He didn`t have to. He is allmighty. He could easily have found a less bloody, less painful solution to save mankind. By the way, if all those generations before Christ did not need salvation to go to heaven, why did we ? He could have left it the way it was.

  • @lizazoon He could have left it the way it was.

Do you understand the way it was? Which part of the way it was is better than being loved enough to merit salvation, for your sins to be washed away?Sacrificing animals? Being a slave to the law? Do you know how many laws had to be kept? God kept forgiving. He made covenants with His people, and they broke them every time. Jesus Christ is God's unbreakable covenant, God walked alone when He made the Christ covenant with Abraham. Man can't break it.

  • @GodsBlessedBeauty Indeed you don`t know what you are talking about. It`s just plain nonsense. NO RAISONING at all.

  • @lizazoon There are more than 600 Old Testament Laws. They're recorded in Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers &Deuteronomy. Salvation came only throughanimal sacrifice. God's people were slaves to those 600laws. The covenant of Jesus Christ removed us from law & placed us under grace. We do not have to sacrifice animals anymore because Christ is God's Perfect Lamb.

Try using your wise mind; the delicate balance between the logical & emotional minds. God judges your heart, not your ability to reason.

  • Jesus is not a mere human. He is part of the divine. True forgiveness comes at a price. God paid that price with the blood of Jesus Christ. The only way to the Father is through the Son. Repent, be baptized, and live according to God's will and Jesus' example. It is the only way home.

  • Comment removed

  • Just forgive?... have you ever had to forgive someone for a truly atrocious act? It is not easy, it is not something that you "just" do. As I said before, true forgiveness comes at a price. The one who forgives is the one who pays that price. God wanted to forgive us so He sent the Son to pay that price.

  • god don't have sins

  • Who wants to be washed in blood ?????????????

  • @lizazoon , to be saved and to go to heaven u have to be washed in the blood of JESUS CHRIST! you will only make it ti HEAVEN with JESUS AND HIS BLOOD WILL CLEANSE U!

  • its actually just baptism- dont be a jerk' your not that dense.

  • I'll fly away

  • i love this song

  • Merry christmas y'alll!!

  • What can we say .He is the reason for the season .

  • actually it was six days, and He rested on the seventh. found that one in Geneses 1

  • I'm pretty sure he created the heaven's and earth in 7 days, then said...Screw it on the 8th day....LOL He has humor....we are seeing this.....

GOD BLESS US!! WE CAN ONLY EXHALT HIM....AND SAY HE IS ALIVE!! ARE WE? **Laughing** Let me take a pulse?

  • I always sing I'll Fly Away when I jog

(I hate running) because it encourages me to know that one day the pain and annoyances of this earth will pass and I will fly away to God's celestial shores because I am washed in the blood of the Lamb.

  • riddle: Born once, die twice. Born twice, die once

  • Almost. It's born once, die twice; Born twice die never. When we are born again and filled with the Holy Spirit we pass from death unto life. Jesus said we "shall never taste of death".

  • Amen. Yes there seem to be 2 versions of this riddle. My version views the natural death of the body but not the Spirit.

Unsaved people have no idea what they are missing- (2 Cor 5.,17)

  • Yes Alan Jackson Is a Christian and so Is Denise, I know them both, God Bless you Alan...and Denise.

  • He has a beautiful family. God bless them.

  • The unfortunate thing for athiests is that they'll never know if they're right about an afterlife. Only if they're wrong. And eternity is a bad thing to be wrong about.

  • go down to a store....look at the store .....did that building just happen to fall from the sky there??? u will mostlikely say no way.....how do u know???? were u there? that is the same with this world....did it just fall into being.........u may say but we have proof that there is a builder for that building.....well i have proof that the earth has a builder to....genesis 1:1 in the beginning GOD created the HEAVENS and the EARTH

  • Jesus is the way amen!

  • ..allan jackson one of country singer that have a great voice..

  • If one person has voices in his/her head, the person will most likely be sendt to a asylum.. If a group of people have the same, it's suddenly religion.

    It saddens me..

  • whe have been healed by His blood

  • Alan Jackson is a Christian. His wife wrote a book about their faith.

  • October1550 - I don't know Mr Jackson's heart, do you?

  • I love that guitar at the beginning!

  • i mean its sound* it looks terrible though

  • Jesus is the way.... let it be known

  • Christian brothers & Sisters tell all the entire world Jesus is the truth and salvation.

  • Yes, some day I ll FLY AWAY, OH GLORY!!!!! Jesus is King!

  • Folks, Christ FULFILLED the law. The law has served its purpose...to show us we cannot keep it. We are NOT bound by 10 commandments but by 3 (love God, neighbor as self, love each other as Christ loved us). Beating yourself over the head with the "I'm worthless" stick demeans the savior who lives inside you!

  • arsome song .. alan jackson is good at singing gosble songs old hyms sond nice when it is in country music

  • Adicionado em 141009 hino 133

  • painstrulove

I'm sorry you don't believe in God. That's your loss. I'm sorry that you're missing out on the greatest gift of all.

    Anyways.

(: Great song, by a great singer.

  • No need to be sorry!

I can't possibly list the numerous ways my life has improved since abandoning mythology for reality in only 500 characters!

I am sorry that you are missing out on the beauty of the cosmos.

  • You're right Painstrulove, when I say: 'there is a God', it's just my opinion.

I don't have any direct evidence..

When you say: 'there is not a God', it's just your opinion.

And it also means nothing because you don't have any evidence for that statement either.

By the way, I'm Dutch, so any mistakes in my writing don't have anything to do with a low IQ.

  • I actually disagree. Matters of opinion are subjective statements concerning reality: "the lake is pretty; the lake is ugly". The lake has no intrinsic ugliness or prettiness, these are just subjective opinions we apply to it. But the claim that a god exists makes a claim about objective truth. Since this claim is about objective reality, it is subject to the same analysis by evidence as all objective claims. That being the case, it is unjustified to hold a claim as true when no evidence exists.

  • No one can, or need, prove or disprove another's 'belief'. I'm not going to argue with you, dude. I've been there. Some things are just true, whether or not we believe those things really doesn't matter. No real evidence exists that He doesn't exist, but thanks for presenting us with one of Hitchens' better arguments...lol

Mostly, it seems to me, that an atheist can't seem to find God for the same reason that a thief can't seem to find a policeman during a robbery. Best 2 u, man.

  • You seem to think it important that evidence should exist to suggest a god does not exist. While I do think evidence exists to rule out some gods, the christian one included, this is never required. The burden of proof rests on the claimant, not the one denying the claim.

Atheists don't accept any god claims because theists haven't provided any evidence to support those claims. Simple as that.

Provide evidence, and I doubtlessly change my mind.

  • Keep dreaming, Painstrulove.

    There is a God.

And I know enough well educated people who have gone to university who agree.

If you don't believe in God, that's your choice but just don't think that people who believe in God are dummies.

  • On the contrary, although religiosity is positively correlated with low IQ, I am well aware that many intellectuals are theists.

I do not think this serves to suggest that belief in a god is intellectually justified, however, but rather that those who could know better fail to apply logic to this certain aspect of life.

Bold statements such as "there is a god" mean nothing unless supported by evidence. To date, no theist has ever presented evidence for the existence of a god or gods.

  • Those statistics u talk about they were probaly from those people who are either dead against God or are atheists. Ungodly nations suffer from this because they like doing what they want or what the devil wants. If those statistics were from christian nations its simply people rebelling against God.

Religon is not a cult I fully reject that. However religon won't get u in2 Heaven. Only asking Jesus in2 ur heart and asking him for forgiveness for ur sins will do that. Im nt blind by the way!

  • Look painstrulove i u don't believe in God thats ur opinions and beliefs. These statistics you have come with and from ungodly and most likely God hating individuals who have no time for God. I disagree with u saying religon is a cult. Its important but it won't get u into heaven just for being a good citizen or going 2 church etc.

  • Uh, no, actually. Statistics are objective collections of data and therefore the condition of the researcher is not applicable. Data speaks for itself. So whether these data were collected by atheists, christians, or anyone else has no influence on the findings whatsoever.

All religions start as cults. We only change the terminology to reflect a sense of tradition.

All cults are young religions. All religions are old cults.

  • I'm only a sinner saved by grace!

Jesus is worthy of our praise!

  • ppl are allowed to think what they want. that is totaly okey but to say some is doing it wrong or is stupid for believing something thats just wrong any any since. i will let any one who perfects living on this earth tell me who is stupid or wrong or right. ppl do things differently, and believe differently. lets respect the difference. plz?

  • Respect and tolerance ends when someone who cannot offer a rationalization for their beliefs harms, or facilitates the harm, of another person.

I don't engage in religious discussion simply because belief in a god is unjustified, but because it is also harmful to society and the Earth. Those who cannot see this must be blind.

  • i dont care about religion pain i care about a personal relationship with Jesus Christ,I pray you are blessed and that you one day see the real truth which is not organized religion ,it is one relationship with Jesus.not going to church, not relying on mans interpritation of the Bible, but discovering real peace and truth in Christ Jesus,God bless u dude

  • Well I care about education. I care that people have enough intelligence to sort fact from fiction in an intellectually honest manner. Anyone who claims to be Christian either has not developed these critical analysis skills, or does not apply them to certain beliefs.

By the way, I can think of no real relationship which necessitates belief that the other party exists; except, of course, an imaginary friend.

You keep praying; I'll keep thinking.

  • You're funny, dude. I like you.

I bet we could talk for hours, and probably get nowhere. But, it'd be fun!

So, logically then, what use does the animal kingdom have of a moral compass? Do trees know evil? If so, can you prove it? If not, can you prove that? If they lack a moral compass, and we are animals as well, why do we seem to have universal agreement on certain evils and social ills, regardless of culture or subculture? Why the moral comapass for us and not trees?

    Holla!

  • Comment removed

  • Why would you choose trees? They are neither animal nor do they have a central nervous system. The types of animals that display "moral" behavior are social animals. For example, the piranha is a voracious meat-eater, yet intrinsically know that eating one another is bad for the group. A meerkat will stand guard and sound an alarm when predators come, often sacrificing his own life in the process. They self-sacrifice because it allows the entire group to survive.

  • The most complex moral structures are found in apes, where a leader is elected and cares for the saftey of the entire group. Careful rules about how much to share, how to treat the young, and avoiding conflict must be followed in order to avoid retribution. The apes, piranha, and meerkat do not need stone tablets. They don't even need the rules explained to them, and neither do humans. We, like all social animals, know the rules innately, through our evolutionary history.

  • if we knew the rules innately we wouldn't be having war and crime. we'd be all getting along like we should be.

  • Why do monozygotic (identical) twins who are split at birth often tend to be greatly different people, despite being genetically identical? Because what is natural is always augmented by environment. Nature is not the be all, end all of a person. Nurture plays a large, if not greater, role.

Under the right circumstances and upbringing, even a morally savvy youth can grow up to think that suicide bombings or moral. Coincidentally, the demoralizing circumstances I mentioned are often religious.

  • are* not "or"

  • a morally savvy youth would NOT think that suicide bombings are moral. Sin is natural and can be augmented by the right environment for it. but if you choose to change how you live and who/what you surround yourself with, then sin can be completely wiped out.

  • As I said, given the right reinforcement contingencies, a morally savvy youth can mature to consider bombings to be a moral action. And yes, reinforcement contingencies can also be managed to encourage the innate morality which we possess via evolution. Don't forget, also, the altruism in the wild is much more neccessary than in human society. Most of us have surpassed our daily needs for survival, and thus our innate survival-necesitated morality can be put aside, or even forgotten.

  • you mean an action based on morals right? and btw....most people who believe this have insulted me because i believe differently. you have not...thank you

  • I'm not exactly sure which part of my comment your question is addressing.

And your welcome; I find it immature to attack a person themself, but I don't refrain from criticizing views or ideals which are unjustified, outrageous, or conflict with reality.

  • talking about the "..even a morally savvy youth can grow up to think that suicide bombings [are] moral."

  • Can we be realistic about sin? Jesus is the only one who has kept the Ten Commandments. We are all sinners. It can never be wiped out via human effort. If we could 'fix ourselves' Jesus would not have needed to give us a new heart (at conversion) (Ezek 36.26; 2 Cor 5.17; Jn 3.3; Isaiah 59.2) . . . All sinners are guilty before a Holy God. OUr sin carries a death sentence. Some one must die ti pay for it! ( (Rom 6.23; Heb 9.22; 1 Ptr 1.18-19; Eph 1.7; Ezek 18.4) Peace :)

  • You see your actaully right here

But Our god is pure and holy and forgives all who truly wishes him too

  • Right. A morally savvy youth can grow up to believe that suicide bombings are moral actions.

  • most definitely they are a result of right and wrong

it would be a wrong reaction compiled with several other right/wrong choices.

  • Men are depraved - in thots, deeds and feelings. Any old wicked thing is possible to the deceived heart. This is why we need an absolute, unchanging standard - God's Word, Bible.

"The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man is he who listens to counsel" Proverbs 12.15 NAS.

  • absolutely...without God's unchanging word...we are nothing. pure and simple.

  • "A religion is a system of human thought which usually includes a set of narratives, symbols, beliefs and practices that give meaning to the practitioner's experiences of life through reference to a higher power, deity or deities"

-Your unjustified belief in a god meets all the criteria to properly be classified as a religion, whether you choose to apply that label to it or not.

Please don't attempt to make your belief seem less irrational than it is by refusing to call it what it really is.

  • Heh painstrulove Christianity is not a cult.

U may not be evil or malicious but u can't prove it not true.

Also we are all sinners every person in this world are sinners and need to ask the lord Jesus into our hearts and for forgiveness of ours sins and we should live our lives for him.

  • All religions start as cults.

I can prove that atheists are not only moral, but more moral than Christians. Global statistics confirm this. The more religious a nation is, the higher the incidience of social problems like rape, violent crime, abortion, divorce, and homelessness. The less religious a nation is, the higher the standard of living becomes. Christian populations have higher rates of divorce, abortion, and teen pregnancy than atheistic populations.

  • I'm from Holland but I love this kind country music it's great!!

  • I love how he sangs these songs. Just beautiful! I listen to them in my head all day. I can't wait until I get this CD.

  • Riddle: Why does Jesus die only for ungodly people? (Rom 3.10, 23; 5.6,8)

    peace :)

  • For love, by grace, He brought me out of that condition. So... I've been there, right where you are now. Now by grace I've been saved and you could too. All I'm going to do is pray for you man.

  • They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless".

  • Romans 1:18-31

"The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

  • Yea, if I were going to start a cult, I'd be sure to include references to people outside the cult being evil and malicious. I'd also make sure to include references to the "obvious truth" of the beliefs of my cult. That's exactly what cult leaders do. Well I'm sorry that I'm not evil or malicious, and I'm sorry that you're beliefs are not obviously true. Try to gain a higher perspective. Free your mind a bit.

  • I recommend you to watch the movie called "Collision" with Douglas Wilson and Christopher Hitchens.

  • I pray that God would have mercy on you, grant you repentance and bring you to life. He has done that with every Christian, when we were His enemies, we were not seeking Him at all, but sinning against Him and rejecting His Word which is the only Truth, you believe it or not.

  • So, go for it if you want to "keep willing to work a little for truth", but know that's the true way to hell. Unless you repent, turn to God and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior before it's your time to depart from this world.

  • You believe it or not... God is still God, and reigns over all. What you think, is irrelevant and does not change anything but your own soul's destiny. So, you are the only one here that is going to loose something. God gives you grace everyday in spite of your rejection and unbelief. He gives you life and all the blessings that you don't even attribute to Him.

  • That day I'm sure you'll want to go back to the church you were raised and believe, be forgiven, and find rest, but it will be too late for you, my intellectual friend.

  • According to The Bible at the end of the road, even if you believe it or not; still one day you WILL have to bow down before Him, swallow all your "many years of research", your "evidence requirements", all your "intellectual reasoning" which is actually the evidence of your foolishness (Rom 1:21-22)... I'm sure you know that passage. That day you WILL confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father (Phil 2:9-11).

  • Threats without support really don't intimidate me. You can cite verses all you like, but until you provide some evidence for their truth, its just an empty claim. It's the same as telling me "you shouldn't do that; you'll be run over by a unicorn". It really isn't very meaningful.

  • Comment removed

  • I was about to say that. I'll just pm you.

  • I wouldn't abandon Christianity, but I wouldn't settle for low IQ either. I have to say that jennel802009 made a pretty sad defense for Christianity there. Considering she'd apparently never even read the Old Testament..

  • I'd have to agree with you regarding jennel.

And if you think you can offer a better defense, I encourage you to do so. But I recommend contacting me in private messaging to avoid further cluttering this wall.

  • I am not saying that I would settle for a low IQ. I'm just saying if someone gave me a choice between Jesus and the highest IQ in the world, I'd rather have Jesus. You're right about me reading the Bible. I'm just really starting to learn more about it.

  • Comment removed

  • Way to go Jennel802009 don't let any one try to sway your way of thinking.I agree with you 100% Funny how people hate to admit how much they beleive till it's to late, and they are laying there calling for god at the last min.

  • Right. The way I look at it, you have nothing to lose by believing and following Jesus. Might as well do it now before you're begging God to give you a drop of water why you are burning.

  • Nothing to lose?

    Far from it!

I can cite many examples of religious fervor dehumanizing individuals.

Plus, you've already admitted to losing education, the ability to properly analyze claims, the capacity to think critically. You've lost the very thing that makes our species dominant: thought!

In my opinion, you lose quite a bit when you dogmatically accept a mythology you can't defend.

  • That person was not admitting to being uneducated, lazy, etc. they were just admitting to being saved as a Christian. And really, that stereotype is untrue, I'm not sure where you get your sources for these scientific facts, but I know plenty of Christians that are educated and able to think critically. I will give you that many other christians I know don't really think about thier beliefs or live by them, its just how they were raised, so they just go "Yay God" and thats about it.

  • Read it again. I specifically asked if he/she was proud to be uneducated, lazy, etc. The answer was yes. It's in print.

I have gotten my information from a meta-analysis which compared the findings of about 50 studies analyzing the correlation between religiosity, IQ, and education level. So forgive me, but I place more value in statistical fact derived from sociological scientific surveys than in your "I know this guy" anecdote.

  • Have you ever sat and actually talked to a Christian? I'm sorry, but if having a good education means that I have to not believe in the Lord, then to hell with the good education. If I were to become successful with a good education, my money will not buy me into Heaven. I would like to go back to school but I will never stop believing in Jesus, no matter how many statistics of surveys are thrown at me. Don't you know that there are three types of lies: Lies, Damn Lies, and Statistics?

  • Have I ever sat and talked to a Christian? I live with them! I sit and talk to Christians everyday. No, receiving a good education does not require you to renounce belief. Many intellectuals are theists. But the general correlation shows that the more education one receives, the greater their ability becomes to analyze claims and separate fact from fiction. Whether or not they apply this skill to religion is up to the person, but those who do typically see their religion for what it is:mythology

  • But you're right that statistics and surveys do not affect the claim of a god or gods themselves. The surveys simply describe the general societal trend related to religion. The claims themselves are either supported or rejected by evidence. So even if every Christian was stupid and every atheist was smart, or vice versa, this would not affect the claim of a god existing.

Statistics are only misleading to those who have not been trained to understand them. Education is the key to understanding.

  • The benefit of a good education is not monetary; as you implied. Those who link education to money have missed the point of education entirely. Personally I view the quest for knowledge as a moral responsibility that all humans should share. I believe that education is vital to what makes us human, and to refuse it is to refuse one's own humanity. It's not about money; it's about using knowledge to benefit others and reduce harm. This cannot happen without the ability to decipher what is true.

  • That being the case, I hold those who do not share a passion for knowledge (i.e. those who would prefer their own preconceptions over critical analysis) in contempt. To hold a concept as true without a justification is to play with fire. It is arrogant to censor others from criticizing your point of view, but even more arrogant to continue to hold that view if it is demonstrated to be without reasoned support. In the case of religion, not only is it arrogant, it's deadly.

  • I don't care if someone criticizes me for believing in God. I have seen the power of a prayer work so that is all of the evidence that I need that God is real. How is that deadly? God doesn't tell people to kill people. People use that excuse probably so that they can claim insanity or justify their killing if they are ever caught.

  • What you have likely seen is coincidence and confirmation bias, but let's not get into that.

Answer this question for me (and its not a trick question so it should be yes or no):

To you, are the accounts of god's actions in the bible accurate? In other words, if the bible says god or jesus did something, does that mean they did it in reality, no doubt about it?

  • Yes. I do believe everything that the Bible says.

  • Then you don't know your bible as well as I do.

"God doesn't tell people to kill people"

Are you joking? Have you even read the bible? I will post an example.

  • "Then I heard the LORD say to the other men, "Follow him through the city and kill everyone whose forehead is not marked. Show no mercy; have no pity! Kill them all old and young, girls and women and little children. But do not touch anyone with the mark. Begin your task right here at the Temple." So they began by killing the seventy leaders. "Defile the Temple!" the LORD commanded. "Fill its courtyards with the bodies of those you kill! Go!" (Ezekiel 9:5-7 NLT)

  • Obviously, you don't understand the concept of why God sent His only begotten Son here to die for our sins. Although, I do believe Los Angeles maybe another Sodom and Gamorrah. Heck, the whole state of California may be. Look, I am done arguing with you. You are never going to change my mind about God. I will not stop believing in Him. I would rather have a low IQ than not have Jesus, but that's just me.

  • You didn't address the refutation I just offered you. You said "God" doesn't command people to kill people, and that you believe the bible to be an accurate account of "God"'s actions. Yet the bible is filled with innumerable accounts of "God" specifically telling people to kill men, women, and children. Did you forget about these parts? Have you never read them? Do you not know your own religion as well as I do? And when your fallacy is refuted, you want to quit? I don't think that's coincidenc

  • Plus, you're still setting up this false dichotomy between religion and intelligence. No! Smart people can be religious, and dumb people can be atheists. The fact is, however, that the smarter one becomes, the more capable they are of seeing through lies and falsities. Thus, many abandon previously held unjustified mythologies.

You would prefer a comfortable lie over truth?

  • Jesus is da Man! I think I would go absolutely insane without Him in today's world.

He's the only thing keepin it real, but he's the only thing I'd trust my life with!

Get to know Him if you don't, and find out how a real superhero can rock your world!

  • I'm sorry , I am serious about Jesus and that the world has many gods that even christians do not realize they are serving before God .

  • Praise the Lord Jesus!! The only way to God . All other gods are of the world. (anti-christ) Who or what(god) a soul does serve.

  • PRAISE JESUS!

  • I'm 14 goin on 15 and I'm just almost like every other teen out there, but I'm glad I'm a christian, I'm glad that I asked Jesus into my heart, and I'm glad I was baptized.

  • I just love the Lord. It is amazing how much bad stuff we do down here and the Lord still wants us to come and be with Him. We have a wonderful Lord. May God Bless you all even the ones who don't believe in Him. One day, we will see who is right.

  • I love this. Alan Jackson is the best and I think it says a lot for famous singers to want to sing old gospel hymns. And I'll fly away reminds me of my great grandma even tho she's still alive she can't get out hardly at all and isn't able to go to church. But when she did she loved to hear me sing it in front of the church.
