I wondered, as I watched the season 1 pilot, if I was the only person thinking that this stuff, particularly the group powerup at the end, screamed Sailor Moon. I'm glad to know that I wasn't. Of course, I'm not just a brony, but also a moonie (check my username and solitary uploaded show for proof), so it was that much more awesome for me.

@lpscutielove1 I read that Lauren Faust had originally wanted to do an overarcing plot for the season, but executive meddling scrapped that. Could be false, I don't know, but it certainly sounds plausible.

@naylorfan90 I think spending a season setting up the world and the characters in it before hitting a major plot arc was a good call. (It worked very well for Babylon 5, too.) However, by the second season it would probably wear a little thin for episodes to advance the story as little as they generally do.

I knew this series would be good when I saw that spark in Twilight's eyes and got that chill down my spine. The bigger the chill the more epic I know a series is gonna be. When I first saw Sailor Moon my teeth chattered and this series gave me almost the exact same feeling of "Whoa... Epic..."
