Nice, I'm totally diggin' your style man. I've been on the look out for some rockin' blues and I think I've just found my daily fix. ^_^ I'm an aspiring guitarist and this is just the kind of inspiration I need. Keep up the rockin' work.
Hah, listening to your stuff over on your channel, I was going to ask if you had ever listen to Robyn Hitchcock. Yeah, I've always liked this song a lot... it's sort of underappreciated among the many great songs he's written.
BY the way, if you haven't, you should check out user "slippereal"... he's got a lot of great psychedelic stuff.
Thanks a lot man. And looks like I forgot to include my own video when I sent you those Robyn Hitchcock links! This one is one of his, as well, although my cover strays a bit from the original.
That would be cool, especially since the original has a little bit of harmony for the chorus. This one I can play in my sleep, so get down the lyrics if you feel like it and we're off!
By the way, looks like I shoul dbe able to make The Mint on Sunday... looking forward to it.
You're the only cat hip enough to cover this song. I really like that record, and that's one of my favorites from Jewels. You stuck those bluesey licks in there, and you know what? It works.
Heh. Thanks, man. Yeah, I have this chronic problem with bluesing things up, I can't just play anything straight (or play it the sam eway twice.)
Glad to meet other RH aficionados. I've actually always greatly preferred A Star For Bram to Jewels For Sophia - if you haven't heard that one, find it! But I've always thought Mexican God was one of his all-time great album openers.
I have all RH records. But, I wanna say, don't be ashamed of blues.
I have one suggestion. Go and google Billy Childish. Read some of the interviews, listen to the songs. You're going to find that your "blues" is nothing to be ashamed of. I dig your licks. You're now talking to a long gone cat. Nice to meet ya. Oh and, you also can't go just by what you see here on youtube, I keep the best stuff in other places.
Hey, thanks a lot bro! Tthat's a hell of a compliment. To make things interesting for you, I changed around the order of the videos on my channel & retitled a bunch of stuff. OK, I didn't do it for you, I just wanted to shift some of my vidz that are getting less views to be a bit more visible. Anyway... glad you enjoyed.
less eyes also means I record first thing when I wake up in the morning, and while my camera & guitar are right next to my bed, the light switch is all the way across the room :-)
Thanks for the kudos. If you like the song you should pick up the album "I Often Dream Of Trains" by Robyn Hitchcock - this song isn't on it, but it's his best one. Also get "Underwater Moonlight" by The Soft Boys (RH's old band.)
Forgot to mention - if you get "I Often Dream Of Trains", it's worth tracking down the vinyl version, *not* the CD version. The CD release has a bunch of really lame extra songs stuck in the middle. The vinyl version in much better from start to finish.
All I can say is wow! I love the guitar playing on this - it works and betters the song and fits your style. Congrats on a super performance!

This is awesome. "Mexican God" was high on my list of Robyn songs I might try to cover, but this version is so cool I'm not gonna bother. :)

Oh, that I don't like to hear... have at it man! Bring something personal to it. It's a great song, it's so simple that it's a good canvas.

Very cool. Great song choice. He's got many great songs as you know.
Great moving guitar funky pogo stick strong hold on the bass strings.
"Oh magnificent, roasting your people...." haha
I dig the lively voice too.
