  • I always had a crush on Roni Stoneman. A lovely and talented lady.

  • and fans of "HAAWWWTTT COOOUUNNTRRRYYY" will never know the greats of real country music.. Real Country =/= 'Today's Hot Country'..

  • @MILFHunterNT Thats because you are a pervert and someone who needs electroshock therapy..

  • STOP That Ticklinn ME!!!!!!!!!!

  • ronnie plays the banjo with the impression "" fuck you all"" which is good..

  • Bobby Thompson was a great addition to the Hee Haw gang. He was so good. I wish there was more music like that today. Country music has crossed over til it has become a lot art. Sounds more like Pop every day. Now Jason Aldean has put Rap in his latest. Won't be buying that!!!!

  • At one time there was a "Banjo Hero" t-shirt at tshirthell com.

  • poor stringbean....at least they didn't let his murderer out of jail even tho he comes up for parole routinely every few years -- dirtbag killer should stay in jail till he croaks!

  • @MsJollycholly the thing is, when someone is murdered, they go straight to Heaven. So, String and his wife are in eternal happiness.. (which is why the death penalty is not so good)

  • why are they singing in a farm?

  • @Camuchoide Why aren't you?

  • I think Les Claypool copies Stringbean's posturing during playing.

  • Whoever said that instead of guitar here that there ought to be a video game called Banjo Hero has a great idea. I don't see why they shouldn't since they have guitar hero, and I'm sure all of you other youtubers have heard of DJ hero. So whoever said that has a great and wonderful idea. Maybe they might come out with it. Put in a suggestion, maybe it'll happen. If so, I'll be sure to get it for my XBox 360

  • How sad that Stringbean's life was so tragically cut short, but what a wonderful legacy he left! He was precious!

  • Anyone know the origins of the song? Is it a traditional handed down through the ages?

  • My dad is a bluegrass picker. When he has a party, it lasts for days. Musicians from all over the country show up, even including a few from Nashville. We're preparing right now for his next big party on the 21st of July, getting the grass cut, the wood stocked up for the backyard fire, repairing little things here and there and cleaning up what mother-nature does... and practicing the music. He's getting older too, and sadly the next generation doesn't have this talent.

  • Wanna see this kind of pickin today go to mountain view arkanas town square on a nice Sunday afternoon bring what ya got and join in the fun

  • @Rcblueox I was JUST thinking that when I was watching this video.

  • Good to see Bobby Thompson picking !

  • Bobby Thompson was incredible. I loved Hee Haw when I was a wee lad. TV sucks today. Modern Country and the Modern Grand Ole Opry should be ashamed. Nothing but country pop music.

  • @BoogieWoogieBanjo A BIG amen!!

  • This is REAL OLD TIME BACKWOODS AMERICA!

These are exactly like my relatives from West Virginia & Tennessee.

Hee Haw looked easy but took an immense amount of work to

rehearse and tape. No producer wants to spend that kind of time

& money anymore. Also when the main guys passed on, and they

were older when Hee Haw came out, (Grandpa Jones, String Bean,

Archie Campbell, Junior Samples, Roy Acuff) there were no other

folks who could do this kind of variety humor.

    1 more memory to enjoy

  • This is like kryptonite to progressive liberals. I love it.

  • the reason new country doesn't feature this kind of music is no artist has enought talent and few listeners have the personality. sad.

  • that is pure happiness right there my friends. pure happiness! thanks for sharing!

  • ok the million dollar challenge is to try to figure out what your favorite prt of this video is.. tough to do when you got string, granfpa and roni all in one... this just makes me happy,!

  • anyone know what kind of banjo Roni is playing?

  • gotta love it...

  • Dang! Roni could play too!!! :D

  • does anyone know the lyrics or where I can find them?

  • Great Clip of the Banjo Band! Stringbean, Roni, Grandpa Jones! Thanks for this post. would love to see more 'Banjer" Band!!!!

  • Personally, I do believe that Stringbean and Grandpa Jones were the last "Big" clawhammer/frailing players. I just don't see anybody in the country scene play this way any more. =o(

  • Damn, but Stringbean was fine on the banjo! R.I.P., man.

  • @lavenderliberal what an awful story....I remember hearing it when I was a kid, long after he was gone

  • RIP Stringbean

  • Stringbean & Granpa were the Eddie VanHalen and Jimmy Hendrix of Banjo.

  • I find it very cool here than Roni Stoneman basically handed Roy Clark his ass.

  • @fawkyou3 stringbean and his wife were shot to death while being robbed at their home

  • @fawkyou3 ...That was just really un-called for. Shame on you! :(

  • stringbean and all the others that did stuff like this, were always so good. i have wonderful memories of this show.

  • 2 Immortal personalities! LONG LIVE GRANPA AND BEAN ! youre never forgotten , play some banjo up in the heavens

  • go ronnie go

  • I used to have a big crush on Roni stoneman

  • awesome video! Thanks for posting! Grandpa andn "Ole Strang" will never die as long as there are people like us who know what good music is all about!!

  • Wow, Ronnie can play some banjo... I didn't know she played, I thot she was only the comedy relief... I have more respect for Ronnie Stoneman

    Go, gurl, go!

  • mazn i gotta get me a banjo

  • Instead of Guitar Hero there ought to be a video game for rednecks called Banjo Hero, Starring Grandpa, Roy and Stringbean.

  • It would be too complicated for Guitar Hero players. Most people can barely play Guitar Hero as it is. That's why DJ Hero was invented. I guess you could say that video games imitate life.

    *Ray*

  • haha great idea!

  • Comment removed

  • @Almosen Amen to that!!! Yeehaw!!! From Pecos Cruz!! The Rican Cowboy!!!!!

  • Now that I would buy!

  • @85buickV8 I Just wish Kids Nowdays Would learn how to play REAL Instraments,Games are fun,and if gets them in to Real Playin Than Great!and If Its a Game Cool,I just hear to many people that think there playin for real or that its not that hard to play a real Guitar, or other instrament! It Not That hard,If your willin To Practice, and Who has Time for That! With the Football at 6,Dinners almost ready,Wheres your sister,And Turn off the Game and Come to Dinner Now!Nope No Time!MUSIC,PASS IT ON!

  • @85buickV8 - I agree! Don't forget Roni Stoneman!

  • @85buickV8 What is a red neck just because someone plays country doesnt mean they are a red neck. Now explain what in a sensible language is a redneck and none of that retarded city crap either.

  • @MegaInvisible1 dont worry about what people call you or others. im happy when someone calls me a redneck, the term redneck was actually used to describe a farmer or someone who worked outside. because thier neck would get sunburned. and that was mainly country folk . and i would be proud to have worked a farm like my grand father did. but thats what the original meaning of redneck.

  • @85buickV8 Good idea, and w'd be good way for kids these days to learn about these Americans, and these old folk ballads that are becoming lost.

  • @85buickV8 Dont forget Roni.

  • @85buickV8 HELL YEAH!!!!

  • @85buickV8 Great idea, but ya' gotta add Bobby and Roni too.

  • @85buickV8 do u think u could banjo hero that fast ? lol fun idea though

  • @85buickV8 I agree I agree!!!

  • @85buickV8 Don't forget Uncle Dave Macon

  • @85buickV8 you are so right

  • @85buickV8 Nice, but no Banjo Hero would be complete without Earl Scruggs.

  • @hwoods01 Ain't that the truth!

  • Thanks SO much!!

  • This is the best thing ever on youtube. String, Grandpa, and Roni are three of the best entertainers ever in country music, and here you have all three in one group! I have this clip on dvd and this clip alone inspired to learn to plonk the ol banjo. Thanks for posting this!!!!!!!!

  • thats how music should still be

  • who was the first guy?

  • Stringbean

  • Grandpa Jones ruled!!!!

  • Roni has a myspace page, music plays while you look.

  • Also go watch "Old Rattler". Fantastic...My family has forbidden me to watch any more Hee Haw video. I memorize the songs and sing them at inappropriate times.

  • closet hillbilly !

  • Yup, sure am...

  • Roni was so excited she almost started as GJ was starting his banjo solo. Roy pulled her back. Never seen anything like her before or since...wow

  • can you believe that out of the 5 playing banjos only 2 are still alive thats Roy Clark & I presume Ronnie Stoneman

  • That is about as animated as I have ever seen Ronnie Stoneman. When she was with the Stonemans, she was upstaged by her sister Donna.

  • Made me pull out the flat top and play..again..! Played all day today..

  • A-1

  • Hee Haw Rules!!

  • Love to hear old Stringbean introduce songs.

  • Great clip. Brings back memories of watching the show when I was a kid.
