Chomsky does not understand the nature of religion; specifically that it is not the source for morality for anyone. Our moral nature is a product of evolution, thus when he states that chrisianity could have been "restored" by returning to the gospels, he is buying into the fallacy that a better morality is created by highlighting different verses or chapters in the bible rather than through sober rational thought and discussion with emphasis on levels of suffering.

Chomsky does not understand the nature of religion; specifically that it is not the source for morality for anyone. Our moral nature is a product of evolution, thus when he states that chrisianity could have been "restored" by returning to the gospels, he is buying into the fallacy that a better morality is created by highlighting different verses or chapters in the bible rather than through sober rational thought and discussion with emphasis on levels of suffering.

What I love about Chomsky is, he is not "all or nothing" kind of person. He can see grays, and he likes to look from every perspective. And he never loses historical perspective.
