this fine, tyical italian tenor is perfect for the BelCanto roles from pieces of Donizetti/Verdi/Puccini. In this category, Pavarotti is excellent, however the harder-to-sing roles as e.g.Parsifal he has never accepted.
As far as Pav being one the best of the 20th century, Pavarotti sucks big balls, balls that coincidently belong to the king of all tenors... Jussi Bjorling. He is hands down the overall best tenor of pure voice, vocal technique, diction and musicality from this century. He was not the greatest actor but I have seen worse. (Ie: Pavarotti).
I'm not a huge Pav fan either, but give the man his dues. And I'm sorry, but Bjorling was quite possibly one of the worst acting tenors to set foot on the operatic stage. Opera is not completely about the voice... your words not mine :)
That fat bastard is not "great" but he has a very good voice. A voice that some would say is better than Domingo. And I can accept such and argument, but I would rather see Domingo in any opera in his prime rather than Pavarotti in his prime. (Because opera is not completely about the voice)
The best singer in the whole world (yesterday, today, tomorrow and the next 1 millenium)

Pavarotti has a phenomenal voice & technique, but I prefer Carreras.

Pavarotti is the greatest. His voice is not product of nature only, but of a excelent technique.

He is something.
Thank you Luciano. I feel alive when I hear your voice.
Can't compare him to anyone.
He could have done more with his technique but still is number one.
Bravo Maestro Pavarotti!!!
