I think Magneto became a victim of Marvel's tendency to cry more nuanced villains with shades of grey. Looks how far he has come from wanting "to make homo sapiens bow to homo superior" to coming closer to Xavier's dream of peaceful coexistence... then back again. Then a holocaust survivor, a clone, so on and so on.
I have a couple of questions. Why do you think the Hulk is not involved in SI and also do you think that both avengers teams will unite after SI? I personally like the new avengers title better than the mighty title because of bendis and the little hints throughout. After SI is over I cant see the new avengers titles being exciting any more.
I've never been a big Superman reader, but between the current Atlas storyline (which I picked up from your recommendation) and the absolutely amazing recent Action Comics (Gary Frank is a God), I find myself warming up to the man of steel.
I'll have to re-read it then. But I dislike how some fans see Magneto as sort've an anti-hero whose trying to do a good thing the wrong way. When you cut-the-crap, he's a violent, psychotic, racsist, megalomaniac. I guess i only like seeing him being a villian.
Anyway, follow up question: Do you think whatever it was Mags and High Evolutionary snaked from the Celestial, they may use to bring back all the mutants?
the blame lies with Chris Claremont writing him as a hero and leader of the X-Men for years.
Its not the fans fault if they got into that portrayal, in fact Claremont still pretty much writes him that way to this day when he gets his crappy writing mitts on Mags
exactly, that panel with Angel and his broken shoulders in Uncanny X-Men #500 through me off completely, Land's artwork is very hit and miss to me, but Terry Dodson, man that dudes artwork is off the chain!
His cover for SI: X-Men #1 was stunning! I pretty much orgasmed in my comic shop when I saw it.. anyway, thats a bit crazy, so i'll stop there.

All in the pursuit of giving a character a title of their own!
I mean Venoms a good guy right?
Hell didn't Deadpool start off as a bad-guy?

Ha! You are so dead-on, Hartley! And don't forget his "CrossTime" fetish. Always with the Crosstime he does!
Thanks!

Claremont is essentially incapable of new ideas now.
I mean how many stories with Roma, and the captain Britain Corps can a guy come up with?
Answer:
1, but the fucker will re-hash that single idea over and fucking over!
Pretty much every single Claremont story arc involves someone being taken over "body and soul"...
And to think he used to be one of comics best writers!
I've heard that his writing decent began with his cocaine habit!
And i"m not even kidding!

Hey Hartlety, on your next ep could you say what new graphic novels are out for the week and any graphic novels worth reading that come to mind.
budderking 3 years ago
Thats pretty much what I have been doing of late at the end of segments.
I'll try to make it a more regular occurrence at the end of eps.
