  • The advertizing biz is to blame, don´t buy anything!

  • Ugly women hate airbrushing. End Of!

  • LOLLLLL Guurl you're so pressed and desperate. I'm a retoucher and I'm proud of my job. It's about selling a dream, not showing something completely natural. On the other hand, fashion and beauty models are VERY i mean VERY beautiful and the work is fine tuning skin, symetry and physionomy (not to mention the overal image treatment). and BTW a lot of the photos you show are fake ass ugly retouches, not profesionnal jobs. And it's not AIRBRUSHED, it's RETOUCHED. Aibrushing is a bad technique.

  • Hey i am writing a paper about this topic and can you help me a little bit??I hate airbrushing!Women are beautiful just the way they are!

  • I absolutely detest airbrushing. It's flat out dishonest. I also detest women who hold magazine covers responsible for their self-esteem.

  • It was hard to pay attention cause the way you talked was just, blah

  • I love this video! It's so true. I think airbrushing should be banned. It's making people feel insecure about themselves and I even knew somebody who killed themself because they wanted to look like models :'(

  • Another excellent video! What you're doing is totally what Youtube should be about. Keep em coming!

  • anorexia is a lie! they are desperate for attention get over your daddy issues

  • Good point.

  • Lol..."thank god she got rid of that loser"...too much!

    (nice work too!)

  • Although I don't generally appreciate the language-- You're absolutely right, my wife suffers from an eating disorder and has since she was 14. Keep up the good work.

  • i loved this

that pic at 2.18 pops up ALL the time!! (cous i go onto "thinspo" vids to leave nasty coments about how the bitches are encorigeng ed's) and its fake

not that the real on was anybeter

ppl nowerdays have a totlay flawed perseption of how woman look natraly

if you look at naked patings of women form the 1800's thy all have chunky hips and preoper legs and normal boobs

but now i am expected to have a 14 inch waist DD's and a face thats perfect

    its all crap:)

  • you keep on saying, oh, is this ment to make me feel better?

why???? if you dont feel great already, dont look at magazines to make your self feel better, socialise!

    modles are just adverts anyway

  • Im reading the comments beow and some of you are saying thats its just business and good for these celebrities. I have to disagree becuse when the paparazzi gets close pics of these celebes without make and display for the woprld to see. That would hurt these celebs even more and open them up being criticized or joked about. I think they should just take pics with thier natural look.

  • I dont read magazines anymore - I dont follow fashion models, I dont worry about celebrities and I rarely watch TV. My plan would be to get everyone to boycott these things, and once they loose their power and influence over you, then you start to feel better almost immediately. Women have to have the strength to turn away from these things in the media - mainly models and celebrities, and STOP being so impressed by them!! Its pathetic! We are the ones giving power to what hurts us the most

  • i gave up tv too 7 months ago dont miss it at all cept cops i love that show lol

  • @mealiac you are correct and what you said is noble.

  • @mealiac hey, me too! LOL I stopped watching celebrity related things, all magazines, etc. I boycott these things but my only problem is that I had to end friendships with my female friends b/c they were giving me anxiety about why am I so skinny and how much they want to loose weight.

  • Well I have 2 say that bony models r not attractive &I think Nichole Richie looked disgusting running on the beach in her bikini... but I thought the picture of Faith Hill was beautiful &healthy looking even tho fake. She could reach that if she exercised & when u talk about reshaping the nose & removing blemishes, in terms of evolution raising the beauty standard isn't quite a bad thing 4 the future of our species because Beauty for the most part is correlational w/overall fitness & good genes.

  • You're making statments you can't back up "basically completely changed the entire photo" That's contradictory. "This is probably where her body really ends" What'd you do take the picture on MS paint and decide "Oh yea that looks right" you have to have the proof to make statements like these. Obesity is a huge issue in America. Celebrity fit isn't realistic but it gives people something to work for. Being in shape is hard and it's a lifestyle. But go ahead and try to justify obesity.

  • A great video, well done!

  • ok then:D

  • that pic of "regular" alicia silverstone is CLASSIC!

  • Stop airbrushing!

  • wet seal!!!!----soo ya shut da @#&^ up!!

  • wat da fuck, man im a model and im not anerxic,,soooo y dont u stop and think about wat uve said cause they may airbrush my pictures but its for a good reason. ..,.,so shut da @#%^!!!-up!!

  • who are you a model for?

  • whats the reason?

  • hahahaha. that picture of alicia silverstone is RIDICULOUS.

  • good vid

  • nice video wake everyone up, the media is messing ppl over

  • I AGREE WHIT YOU DUDE!!!

  • Thanks sooo much for this video! its incredible, im doing a college research project on body image and youve basically summarised my entire project into 6 minutes. maybe i should just ask my examiner to watch this video instead...

  • Point taken and I agree.. but celebs are also paid to be something theyre not. Hence acting?

  • I understand the point your trying to make. but, this is their career and it's their job to look the part. and it's our job to stay informed and not let things like this influence us. I'm sorry but, this is just another scape goat. it's your choice to look away or not.

  • yah i agree wif u

  • AND i think the video is phenomenal. love your voice, love how you said everything.

  • I LOVE YOU.

  • omfg. thats disgusting! I mean..i knew they wore makeup, but to totally redo their picture gawd!=

  • u think its only one side of the coin? ofcourse they fake and fix fotos, not everyone is near to perfection... but u must know, that some are. i know girls that their beauty is so stunning.. even without make up, u cannot take your eyes off of them. my best friend has a model-like body, and trust me, if she makes fotos she doesnt need "fotoshop" to look "perfect". so, to sum up: u think cause some fotos are fake, + >>

  • don't get me wrong, though. I am glad you pointed out that this is a fact of the industry because a lot of people don't know already and they also are unaware that they are being brainwashed. It's just when you talk about what SHOULD be done instead, you are wasting your breath...just like world hunger, it will not change as long as people are in charge because nobody is perfect.

  • I understand your point but you are forgetting that selling a product is the only point of being a model or celebrity; they work hand and hand with the media. If you want the media to stop then there can't be stardom or products...why? BECAUSE, the world is like that forever until the end. In a perfect world, everyone would have what they need or make what they need and all of these ads would be obsolete anyway! get it?

  • it not men i wish that people would stop blaming men for women defaults air brushing is a art form it just enhances the model look it not our fault you wonted to look like a model and you found out she was air brushed be yourself and not someone else girl peace and out air brush till i die

  • She is so attractive and I have seen her on Meetwealthy. com,I also met many Sexy, Curvy, Classy Women, open minded rich couples, hot rich guys, also nice wealthy admirers, even some celebs.

  • This is a great video .. good msg.

  • Mass media and advertising makes me want to projectile vomit.

They sell fear. If we liked ourselves the way we are, why would we buy their products?

  • Spacey sorry to bust your bubble but the people who started that are women. Men don't run the fashion and modeling industry. Women do. Kinda sad hey?

  • that is something a man would say......women run the fashion industry? trust me i work in it and while there are some sucessful women who stand out- it is still a very male dominated profession while you see the women in the spotlghts sometimes it is the men in suits with all the cash who pull the strings.

  • woooow 2.07

pretty sure thats the one everyone raves about in 'pro-ana'

haha that girl was worshipped by all the people that valued it...& its all crap :S

this is a really good video.

  • The ironic thing is, most of the models and actresses who receive airbrushing in photo-shoots don't need it at all, and probably won't unless they really let themselves go.

Good video. I'm going to be a lot more skeptical of celebrity photos from now on.

  • at 5:46 is that for real???? mannn and thanks for the video cuz then we'd hear the truth for once

  • Kurt Vachon, studies have shown that girls of ALL weights and ages exposed to advertising using models (and let's face it, you can't just "not look at ads if you don't like them" they're everywhere.) have low self-esteem related to their physical appearance and weight. Besides, children are exposed to these ads from a very impressionable age. They do not know what is true and false, and they can't "just tune it out." They soak it up as a body ideal they can never attain.

  • Wow..thanks for the video...

  • i airbrush for a living, so i really get a kick out of this video. I understand where you are coming from, but dont blame the artists, I make what sells. My one problem with this video is how you say that the people "on the other side" destroy your self esteem. How the fuck do I ruin your SELF esteem, its esteem of your SELF. If you dont want to see photoshopped models, stop buying magazines. Or, if you only see them at the grocery store then use one of the lanes with candy not magazines.

  • i would have to be blindfolded 24/7 not to see any airbrushed images in print media or tv, movies ect, this is not something anyone can avoid. if you have ever met a girl who is completely happy with herself from top to bottom then i will believe your point- of self esteem being under my control. i work in fashion too,i just wish there was no demand for these images in the first place.

  • @SpaceyAtariQueen Ok miss queen, it's normal not to be completely satisfied with how we look. We ain't perfect. And don't lie, you're not working in the fashion industry that's a shameful lie. So if these images makes you feel bad about yourself, go see a psychologist and/or a plastic surgeon and STFU. it's YOUR issue, not ours.

  • @maybemab1 why would i lie about being a designer? try not to be too jealous ok i have a point of view and a job, what now?

  • @SpaceyAtariQueen Because you clearly showed that you don't know shit about how the fashion industry works. You're just trying to red rid of your self esteem issues criticizing retouched photos that are not so retouched. You know, good models are almost naturally flawless. Sometimes poses they take are not flattering for the body and it needs to be fixed. So what? An image needs to be appealing to sell. End of the story. The concept of beauty is as old as humanity.

  • these images are ubiquitious, however. perhaps they should come with a disclaimer: "this image has been altered from the original." most people actually believe (uncritically) that such photos are not altered, and don't realize they are looking at cartoons of human beings.

when i saw that dove video "evolution of beauty" last year, i got sick to my stomach. i still do at severely altered pics. frankenpeople!

  • Exactly, one cannot be forced to feel badly about their self image without their consent, but 95% of the masses out there are weak minded so the influence does in fact work.

  • @KurtVachon I'm totally with you on this.

  • I agree. Back when I had an interview with FHM Magazine about my gaming collection they screwed up and gave me their main ftp l/p so I had complete access to their archives. I saw original untouched images of models BEFORE any PhotoCHOPPING.. what a night and day difference. They were all in .psd format and looked fine until you turned off the final touchup layer and boom!.. wrinkles, pimples, extra skin. When you turned on the layer the women looked average (at best).

    Nice video! out of space!

  • lol, they let you into their FTP with full permissions, and you did nothing? you sir, are a saint. I would of had SO much fun with the site if I was in the position.

  • Aha! :D lol, I knew it..

...The picture shown at 2.08 seconds, w/ the model that was already skinny but had been photoshopped to make her exaggerated into a living skeleton.. I've seen that picture so many times & thought that no one could ever get that way & still stand up; let alone be alive. I wondered to myself if it was just good photoshop work.. Lol & it was XP haha.

Anywho, I like your points, missy :D Thank you. You're totally right.

    & you're pretty good at photoshop :D!

  • good video. but i hate the tone of your voice. it's fucken annoying girl lol.

  • lol i kno i kinda had a drink before i recorded and my voice just got high pitched, needless to say i won't be doing that again

  • Good video (=

buut at the end , its a bit unfair to have celebrities best and worst sides to compare their real and fake image,

They probably have moments whre they look like shit ?

But it doesnt mean they ALWAYS look that way without the photoshop and crap .

    (=

  • I agree with you! I keep wondering who is buying these magazines!Obviously a lot of people!

  • Thanks for the great vid, Spacey. I think this somehow goes hand in hand with the media's fascination with celebrity flaws, too.

  • i COMPLETLEY agree, i couldn't agree more!!

  • lmao @ end montage of ugly celebs. XD

  • omg this pic at 04:58 is so awsome (even it is all fake, well it is ;)) all glory to the maker. He was skilled as hell to change an average girl into godlike man pwner. Still I must admit that you are right, we are living in so fake world. Fake desires, fake security, fake everything. You do not even realize how fake it is until something crashes (like WTC). Then you will notice that the world we lived in, didin't exist at all.

  • I hate those super skinny models. Reminds me of Skelator.

  • Personally I'm not looking at anything smaller than a size 14 butt :)

  • your so right, there is so much falsehood in advertising!

  • great video! Thanks for posting!

  • Poor uncle Jessie... 5/5
