The brothers and the family got caught by the germans, the brothers got tortured so that they would leak information, yet they didn't leach a single word. Also my grandad has some old films that he's trying to show me, it's a lot of how their lives those days were. He's now 73 years old, and have come after a lot of illness. He's the wisest man I know. ~Just thought I'd share it with you guys, in case you might find it interesting. Best wishes, Norway, we love you!
My grandad was about 10 years old when the germans entered his village, he told me what they got for christmas, it was basically clothing and if he was really lucky he'd get an orange (rare at this time). He also told me about his friends (brothers, now dead.) hided a British Radio listener up in the mountains, they provided them food and whatever else they could offer, but the germans found the location and luckily the family managed to give a signal so that the british people could get away.
I am proud to be norwegian! I live in Østfold norway now, but half my family is from Aalesund and Eide (Really close to Geiranger) The people from Aalesund (my grandad's family) were mostly fishermen, and the people from Eide were mostly farmers in eide my great uncle and aunt has the family farm still, I love being in Eide, The area around Aalesund were quite heavily invaded during 2nd world war, I am often talking with my grandad about the war, its interesting -
@da199011 haha you're right, how silly of me... I looked up my source for the photo again, someone posted it on the internet saying that it was Oslo, but then everyone else jumped on her later because it was actually Austin, Texas! My greatest apologies, if I ever redo the video this will be fixed, but I'm not sure I have all the original files to do so anymore. :(
i am not a norwegian with origin , but in my heart i am a norwegian cause everybody loves or will love norway , but maybe people don't know very much about it ! so lets tell them that a little north country is one of the greatest places in world ♥ vote up for the comment , video and NORWAY♥ proud to be a NORWEGIAN♥
A highly enjoyable and informative review. You made good use of your time and you kept it educated and matter-of-fact. The only thing I would have wished for is for you to have spent 15 seconds on the 17 of May celebration, as it is an important part of Norwegian identity.
Nevertheless one of the better Norwegian themed videos on Youtube, Made me miss home. I will certainly link some of my foreign friends to this wonderful review when they ask about more information about my home country.
very nice video! But u totally forgot to show pictures from maybe one of the beautifulest part of entire Norway! Helgeland (nordland). you jumped from ålesund or something, and straight up to Lofoten!
And i who was waiting in excitement on the middle part of norway:P
Anyway, great video, makes me be proud of being a norwegian! cant understand why norwegians escape this country at summer.. Its the most beautiful place on earth to be=)
You're totally right. My sincerest apologies - I totally overlooked Nordland. XD I feel tempted to redo the entire video... I'll have to make up for it at some point.
The pictures of Ålesund made me miss home. Whenever I got bored I always drove up to Fjellstua and gazed upon the city and the west horizon, just like in the first picture. :o)
dont mind this guy... you are right norway DID claim neutrality in WW2, but made ahuge effort after beeing invaded. very few ppl actually know that norway claimed neutrality, even norwegians dont know it:) great video btw:)
@Dreadvizzle Yea we did, in colaboration with the british we destoyed Hitlers heavy water factory in Telemark, preventing Hitler from developing the A - bomb. And the norwegian merchant fleet transported 40% of britains oil supply from America. They also helped to keep the north atlantic sea route safe, going back and forth from Norway to the unoccupied british ports. The british airforce would have been severly weakened without that oil and without Norway protecting their eastern coastline.
This video was very well made. It summarizes most of the important information about Norway, and does so within ten minutes. If you know nothing about Norway, then this is the video for you.
Also, the pictures used in the video are all very nice, some of them almost breathtaking. Perhaps not 100% representative for all of Norway's scenery, but enough about that.
The voicing was done well. I'm norwegian, but had no problems understanding the voice in this video, and she sounded so sweet. ; )

Norway claimed neutrality in WWII, and was still maintaining a neutral position when it was invaded.
