  • I don't like the song as much as I do like the video! excellent!

  • It was Billboard's #1 single the week of November 17, 1945.

  • This song was popular when I was 5 years old. I"m now 71 years old and have always sung it, silly as it is. Last year my sister and I reunited with our other sister, whom we haven"t seen in 40 years and wouldn't you know it, in the course of our visit we started singing Chickery Chick. We laughed and had such a good time and her children were delighted and tickled over it. It was great.

  • @vivaciousnikki Thanks for the comment. My father-in-law, now 81 introduced my to the song quite a few years ago. He was tickled when I told him that I found it on an old 78 RPM. Seems a lot of people remember it.

  • Yes, I agree this song was well before my time, too. My mother and my older cousin would sing this comical little song to me. I never forgot it and really was in awe when I found it on YouTube, My grandchildren got a kick-out-of-it.

I suppose they will continue the tradition and sing it to their children someday and the song will go on and on for generations to come.

  • It topped the charts mid-december 1945

  • This is the theme song of our and everyones old pal Al.Allan Murray .We always think of him when we hear or sing this song.We Love you so much Al !!!! We'll keep singing!

  • Wow, this song brings back childhood memories, my dad taught it to my sisters and my brother and me. Always loved it....and here I thought it was a song my dad made up!!

    Thanks for the memories!

  • @notPUZZLEDup Hello. Thanks for the comment. I'm 51 now and never knew of this song until my father-in-law told me about it about 8 yrs ago. When I found the 78 I was thrilled and so was he when I was able tro play it for him. I thought others would like it as well if I uploaed it. Glad you enjoyed.!!

  • I love this song , my Mom taught it to me when I was little !

  • sounds like Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo

  • I grew up singing this song

  • Once there lived a chicken who would say "Chick-chick, chick-chick" all day Soon that chick got sick and tired of just "chick-chick" So one morning he started to say Chickery chick, cha-la, cha-la Check-a-la romey in a bananika Bollika, wollika, can't you see Chickery chick is me Every time you're sick and tired of just the same old thing Sayin' just the same old words all day Be just like the chicken who found something new to sing Open up your mouth and start to say Chickery chick ,,,
  • WOW! I thought I was theonly one in the whole world who remembered this song. I learned it in grade school and haven't heard anyone else sing it since. That was about 35 years ago.

  • Omg.. my mom use to play this all the time to me in the car, everyday, when I was little. :) I knew all the lyrics. Still do.

  • my gram use to sing this to me as a child and still does sometimes but i can actually sing it now because then i would get tongue tied.(:

  • lol we just learned this yesterday from music class

  • Oh WOW!!! I used to listen to this with my great grandma and grandma when I was little! I even taught it to my children!! :) HOW COOL!

  • i'm only 13 and i remember in 2 grade the teacher would make the whole 2nd 3rd and 4th grade get up on stage and make us sing it to the rest of the school

  • This is from 1945, and my Dad was overseas at the time. My brother & I used to sing it a lot. Later I sang it to my children and now my grandchildren. Such a silly song really but it sure sticks in your mind! I loved it, along with I've Got a Loverly Bunch of Coconuts, and She's Too Fat (must have been Spike Jones), very politically incorrect now but popular at the time.

  • This song was well before my time but my In-laws know it well and are also fans of the other 2 song you mentioned. Glad you liked it!

  • @gramma67 hey granny Lovely bunch of coconuts was Merve Griffen and Too Fat was Arthur Godfrey I was born 44

  • This was my very first Tap dance number in 1974. Jean Shepherd's dance study in Akron, OH.

    Yeah!

  • Just found out this was Top of the American charts the week and year I was born 19/12/1945 so enjoyed listening it even if it is a bit cheesy.
