@CarlosFlo94 no its not. i actually have an xti 6000 bridged mono per each one of these subs i have. when i had xti 4000s running bridged mono on each sub they would clip before the subs were working that hard. the 6000 is more power than the sub can handle but you dont want to under power speakers cause that can blow them.
Do these jbl's have a built in x-over? Thanks everyone. I am considering buying 2 of them from zzounds for $949.00 each. Can I get them cheaper anywhere?
I wouldn't mind putting 2 of those in my bathroom. It would help loosen things up in the morning...especially drywall nails. I had a pair of 30" EV woofers firing through rear corner horns a few years back. But they didn't have nearly the SPL these JBLs can put out. The tradeoff was that the EVs were flat +/- 3db from 18 to 200 Hz and would gently shake the house at 2 watts RMS. 1000RMS would smoke my voicecoils.
if i get one of these, do you think i could do 300 kid school dances? also how low do these go without getting muddy? I plan on using one of these subs on a crown xls 2500, 2400 watts rms bridged at 4 ohms
MRX 528S is built in the great JBL tradition, a very serious product with the most rigurous world audio pro standards. Where does it comes from ? USA.. mexico asia ?
tht cab is 1000 continuous (RMS) 2000 program 4000 peak you usually wanna run program power which is wut JBL recommends for there cabs and thats to have head room if your runnig a live band not compressed audio continuous power is fine for DJing
I really want to get that sub because I know it will really bump. ALthough, it is heavy and I do my gigs solo, so I'm looking at the single 18 version. Whats wierd is that the single 18's are also 4 ohms.. never heard anything like it... do you know why?
omfg...play music with it..I'm german sry and i'm bored abput that what you are saying^^ you have to play some music with that speakers!!! i wanna see the power ...^^ but 5* =)
Awesome video mate, and nice setup. I have a 12" 500 watts RMS Bass cab, and it's pretty wicked. I'm still waitin to see a mobile guy with some Funktion 1 Cabs. lol
Big woofer does not always mean big output. A well built 12 inch or 15 inch horn loaded cab with a long throat path, can and has killed sloppy 18 inch cabs in side by side comparisons. Tighter more controlled bass. Have a look at EAW LA 400. Single 12 with big output. and low extension past what the box in the vid will do.
Please reupload video with this sub being modified by adding rubber feet on the side to place it horizontally. Why didn't you buy SRX728s - more power ideal for your crown - 3200w program and vertically oriented by factory. And better sound with lower bass too.
The dual MRX sub is just one cabinet with the same components as as the single 18's. I would recommend getting two of the singles, because if you sit them next to each other, the coupling effect between the two will give alot more punch than the dual 18". If you are going to get the MRX double 18, why not get the SRX single 18's? They sound much tighter. I have two MRX515's and I have the SR4718X single's, and i run the subs with a crown itech4000, and they kick!
@djchrisepa is the xti 4000 enough to handle 2 jbl mrx 528s at a gig? im debating weather or not to get one xti 4000 or 2 ep 4000s to drive them , any help you can give on the issue im having is most appreciated.
haha true, that is a very nice subwoffer JBL mrx beats almost everyhting out there from other companys beats all the peavey crap in my mind, and definetly mackie and yammah for sure, great speaker
They are a good budget cab, but I wouldn't as far as saying they almost beat anything out there. They won't touch a TUBA from Bill Fitzmaurice, they don't come close to a LAB, KV2's EX line will smoke em out of the water. But then how much does one want to spend. For the money they do well. For the price of a pair of those you could build 4 TUBA's with much higher sensitivity and much lower extension. Much higher SPL. Or can spend $2000 on an KV2 EX 2.2 and $3000 on a EX 2.5.
true, thats why i said that they beat ALMOST, as it is JBL does a fine job, and those tubas, though very powerful, have to be built. the KV2s on the otrher hand yes, those are some of the best world class speakers you can buy, but they are hard to get because they are europiean speakers, and JBL compared to say peavey or mackie or yammaha or any number of those consumer grade subs, wins out pretty easilly.
i know but you should put permanent casters, on it, so you just tilt it over and its on wheels, you dont have to worry about the cart, just a suggestion,
XTi 4000 isn't too much for a MRX 528?

Subs like this don't have a crossover in them and please never ever daisy chain a sub to your tops.

So this sub will run fine with a Peavey PV 3800? It's 1,300watts per chan. at 4ohms

@spinmoney101 maybe the driver it self is 4ohm, dual 8ohm drivers in parallel will get a final impedance of 4ohm

Crown XTi4000 now
djchrisepa 2 years ago
@djchrisepa I understand the Crown XTi4000 puts out 3200 watts when bridged-mono. This is how you play this cabinet, correct?
I have 2 MRX515 tops and i run 1 Crown XTi2000 bridged to each.
Is one MRX 528s cabinet loud enough for 2 MRX 515's ?
