  • The entire series ran on WOR-TV Channel 9 (now currently WWOR My9), with the exception of the first season (1978-79) which was on WPIX Channel 11, and the fourth and fifth seasons (1982-84), in which WCBS-TV Channel 2 carried the series.

  • @tyrese3745 You're mostly right. WOR carried the show until sometime in the Spring or Summer of 83, then it moved back to WOR in September 1984.

  • when there are multiple ties, like here, does the losing challenger receive any consolation prize other than the year's supply of turtle wax which was standard fare then??

  • @blozier2006 Yes they do. $250 for every tie game played.

  • Sometimes I think Thom McKee, Kit Salisbury, Hal Shear, Eileen Jason, and Joe Dunn were the most dangerous opponents to play against on the Barry & Enright shows.

  • What was the most ties made on TTD during the 8 years.

  • I recorded the entire match on DVD. When I figure out how to do video capture, I'll probably upload it.

  • You can barely even tell Thom had a mustasche.

  • Man, i used to love this show when i was a kid. Looked forward to it every night it aired. :-)

  • @wellisaythat the same here

  • GSN took this off and replaced it with Eubanks' era of "Card Sharks". I seen that already. I wanna see more TTD.

  • ME TOO, AND SOME PTP, Hot Potato, and TJW, too!

  • @BenJabituya tjw is probably the joker's wild, what's ptp?

  • @teamguido555 PTP is Play The Percentages.

  • that makes two of us

  • Make it 3, I want to see TTD, TJW, HP and don't forget about Bullseye another AWESOME B&E Show and I also want to see Tom Kennedy's Break the Bank.

  • Tom was the best thing to happen to Tic Tac Dough. The show's ratings soared during his tenure.

  • Why did Tic Tac Dough lose the secret category to the grand question? I wonder what would have happened if Secret Category kept going throught the seasons of TTD.

  • Well, if they kept using the Secret Category, Barry & Enright probably would have gone bankrupt.

  • GO THOM!! xD

  • i have this classic episode taped as well... pete cooper was a good sport....even though he lost...

  • Who would have thunk it. The secret catagory can really raise the pot to exciting stakes; especially when you have two amazing & smart players going at it. Thom & Pete seem like they are both well read & are adaptable to the format for what it is. Right now in a situation like this it comes down to hoping your opponent misses the block. I wonder how the other games went because so far we have yet to see any questions missed in the episode. Let's see how it ends.

  • Hey sdr3df, you are right, I jumped the gun a bit. We also left out Mark Leinwand, who also won on Press Your Luck.

  • Thank god that GSN replayed this classic.

  • They were just trying to air in order... when you do that, something good usually happens. :)

  • Hey, I just recorded the ENTIRE MATCH between these 2!

    Thanks, GSN!

  • All right, everybody! The pot just got big on today's rerun!

Get ready to see this historic moment on GSN tomorrow and set up your VCRs and/or DVRs!

  • This will air Tuesday, since Labor Day is going to be PYL

  • No, it's Wednesday.

  • The Pete Cooper and Thom McKee game just started on Friday. They are now in their second game of a classic game.

  • The Thom McKee era has started. Barbara defeated John on the previous show. She forgotten. Thom McKee has won $6,300 for his first day on TTD. He'll end up winning $312,700 after its all said and done.

I'm looking forward to his episodes.

  • Expect GSN to air this in a few weeks, as they already started McKee's run last Friday.

  • GSN is airing this right now. 9:00/8:00c every weekday morning.

  • Do you have pacific times? 'Cause it was around 12:20pm when you typed this.

  • Never mind, that can't be it.

Well, why did you type this around noon?

  • I used to watched this show since I was a kid when it was on the USA Network back in the 80's, prior to that was on WOR-TV or WNEW-TV I'm not sure.

  • Tic Tac Dough reran on Pat Robertson's CBN, USA and GSN.

I'm glad that GSN has brought back Tic Tac Dough after leaving CBN (now abc family) and USA.

  • These will be coming up in a few weeks, per the GSN skeds on that one site.

  • Here, ye! Here, ye!

    The McKee run begins today!

  • Didn't Charlie O. announce the later seasons of TTD?

  • Yep

  • @mtiller2006 I believe around early-mid 1981, right?

  • Tic Tac Dough reminds me of ``Jeopardy'' and ``Hollywood Squares.''

  • Well "Hollywood Squares" had celebrities in the boxes, but Tic Tac Dough had "Jeopardy-esque" categories and a dreaded dragon in the boxes! BTW, the Jeopardy board-filling sound reminded me of the Tic Tac Dough shuffling sound.

  • just watched today in which Doc Fass defeated a guy named john for a $26,800 pot. Another sensational game, but not AS GOOD AS THIS CLASSIC BATTLE

  • For everyone watching TTD every morning at 7 PT wondering, "Where is Thom McKee, Where is Thom McKee", it won't be too much longer. Doc Fass, who became champ today, will be on for a week or two, as he ends up winning about $110,000, and eventually being part of the TOC in '83. He then gets defeated by a female contestant who wins one game before facing Thom. So he's coming soon. Bob Hilton announced most of those episodoes, I think Art James did a few as well before Jay Stewart returned.

  • I can hardly remember, but I think John Welsh is the next $100,000 winner who comes after Doc Fass then Thom comes after a lady that beated John,

  • Thanks for the clarification, Sal. I was wondering about that. I have been watching Doc-- who is no slouch-- but I remember watching Thom at the age of 10 as he beat the pants off almost everyone who he encountered. What a great classic find-- gotta LOVE YouTube! :)

  • Close, sdr3df.

Here's how it really went: First there was Doc Fass, then there was a guy who was quickly defeated by Mark Leinwand, who was eventually defeated by John Welsh, who was eventually defeated by a woman who was quickly defeated by Thom.

    Lots of $100K winners, huh?

  • Hey mtiller I was just wondering if you have anymore episodes of TTD if you do please post them up soon I really enjoyed watching this show when I was growing up thanks

  • I can't post anymore for the time being. Look at my latest update video, it'll tell you why

  • In every single one of Thom McKee's matches, he always started in the center box.

  • If we could get Sony Entertainment to bring back TTD (with the rules and gameplay from the Martindale/Caldwell era), the first contestants I would like to see would be Thom McKee (X) and Ken Jennings (O). Imagine the total of the pot if either one wins...if that ever happens.

  • @rwboa22 Thom McKee (smart stud) vs Ken Jennings (nerdy nerd)

  • This was interim period for Tic-Tac-Dough and for Barry & Enright, as it occurred after Jay Stewart resigned, but before Charlie O'Donnell was hired.

  • Jay Stewart actually came back during Thom McKee's reign somewhere down the road

  • Hmm...I didn't know Bob Hilton did work for B&E...perhaps this was a few months before Blockbusters was produced.

  • When in 1980?

  • Great to see this video. Wish I could see the enitire match between Thom and Pete, the greatest game of Tic Tac Dough of all time.

  • You don't have to wait much longer for the match, richie!

    Just a week or so.

  • The match started this morning, and should end on Wednesday.

  • WOW! Thanks for posting the whole episode!

  • Thom McKee looks pretty much like Lt. Andy Baldwin from the Bachelor: An Officer and a Gentleman.

  • The name of Thom McKee's challenger in this game is Pete Cooper.

  • I knew that...

  • Many would wonder why the pot got so high. Well for one thing, the tie games. But also, the key factor was the Secret Category. The first red box category was a question on any subject. A correct answer doubled the pot. I would think that it was called on many times.

  • Starting the show with three ties and a pot of $34,000+. I'd be a nervous wreck if I were faced with that situation!

  • I would especially that was really big money back in 1980
