Back in the 1700's/1800's when young girls were laced into their corsets it was customary for their mother or the house maid to tighten the laces excruciatingly tight before bedtime. The laces were always tied at the top near the neck and the girl's hand's would be tied behind their backs so they couldn't reach/loosen the laces.

I know corsets of the past were meant for male enjoyment at the woman's expense, and that's how these waspies came about. Corsets today are worn by a woman's own choice, but why would a woman choose to do that to her insides is beyond me. I think waspies should be left in the past where they belong.

Hello, I am until recently a corset virgin,, I'm a natural 26 inch and the guide says always but one 4-6 inches smaller than your natural waist, but the problem is I have a really high squish factor, so whenever I lace my 21inch corset up tightly I can close the black completely.

I want to buy a what katie did corset, but their very pricy so I want one that'll last me for ages, should I get a 22 inch like the guide suggests or a 20 or 18?

Depends on how trained ones waist is. Someone who has corset trained for years could easily shave off 6-7 inches in one go without any health risks. Especially girls with a curvier shape & "squishyness".

Meanwhile, if your just starting out corset training you really should listen to your body & only reduce 2-4 inches depending on your bodytype.

Pregnancy displaces your organs waaaay more than a corset.

It's only dangerous if you're doing it wrong, just like driving a car.

It wasn't "fashionable" to be thin as a rail, quite the opposite and their natural anatomy was greatly different from ours, as a modern figure is more of an apple shape, meaning wearing a corset would be more difficult.
