Her Wikipedia page shows that Dakota got no awards for her superlative acting in Hounddog. Damn, she's owed--she's really owed! (The adults were great too.) I have issues with the movie but certainly not the rape scene; it was beautifully done. I read that the movie was made in summer 06 when she was 12-1/2. It was a sharp break from her child roles & showed her skill as a heavy-lift dramatic actress. Lewellen is still my favorite of her performances! (Later, she named her dog "Lewellen"--nice!)

This looks like a fantastic film, even through Dakota was only a little kid here that plays a very controversy role for a young child, pretty disturbing to see a young child acting in that kind of way, but her acting was amazing and the film as well, it shows the full emotional of the acting played and the situations. I'm getting this on dvd from ebay. Dakota was only 12 when making this film. Highly Recommended film if u like drama films and these kinds of films.
