The real proof of God is that I get a warm feeling in my tummy every time I think of Him. So-- it's time for all you athiests/nonbelievers to bow down and fear the wrath of my loving God!
This seems to assume that time is separate from space? We should remember that it is ok to say "I don't know" We should not answer with false conclusions simply because the jury is still out.
@Snipehsheep God is the proposition of an entity not natural, so you can't subject it to natural laws like cause & effect which Newton covered. God is not an effect. Atheists tend to start their arguments by begging the question that their materialistic faith is already proven. It isn't, and it is actually disproven. I did it the other day.
@AthosAmo Nor the universe is an entity. Universe is an abstract. It is the set of all that exists and is subject of natural laws. The Universe is not subject of natural laws itself.
@AthosAmo No, the universe cannot be contained within itself, nor you can move it or accelerate it. Nor you can look at it, you will be watching the contents, not the universe. Can you put the universe in water to test if it floats? No. Why? Because the universe is not its contents, it is an abstract. In the same sense the set of all red objects is not red itself, otherwise it would contain itself.
@upisoft2 "Because the universe is not its contents, it is an abstract." False dichotomy. It is the abstract term for all physical things collectively. It is abstract because we are not omniscient. So we can only imagine most physical things.
@AthosAmo Nonsense. You don't need to be omniscient to understand the difference. You can't paint the set of all red objects in green, the set is not an object and it does not have physical boundaries that could be painted. The same is valid for the universe, you can't paint it as it has no surface like other objects have. All objects have such physical boundaries that define where the object ends and something else begins. You can show that "something else".
@upisoft2 "You can show that 'something else'." You can't show an idea. Does that mean ideas don't exist? Of course not. You can't show the mind. The brain is not the mind, since the mind clearly has free will, which would be impossible if materialism were true, as materialism would mean that we would be completely predetermined by physics. My mind is not forced by any physics to settle on my pinky when starting to cut my nails. You know it. This proves atheism and materialism false.
@AthosAmo (cont..) With the universe you can't show the boundaries nor you can show that "something else". You can't even show that something else exists. Anyway even if something else exists we don't know how it interacts with universe. By definition this interaction is not subject of natural laws. If it was subject of natural laws it should be part of the universe.
@upisoft2 Once again, you don't have to show the universe in its entirety to know that it is real. By definition, it is the sum of its parts. Its parts are physical, and you know that many physical things exist which we cannot see. All of them combined are referred to as the universe. Since when does the existence of something depend on your observing it? Why so desperate to deny that the universe exists?
@upisoft2 "You can't even show that something else exists." WIth logic, I have, in my 3-slide video "The supernatural PROVEN. Atheists thumb this down because they can't refute it."
@AthosAmo As I said even is something else exists it does not matter, because it will not interact with the universe using natural laws. They will be supernatural laws if you wish. Therefore the universe will interact supernaturally and not naturally as you insist.
@upisoft2 I see what you mean, but the natural would be the object and not the subject doing any of the acting, unless a natural human who has supernatural spirit interacts by prayer. If it is a rock, it can be only the object being acted upon. If us, we can be both object and subject. You seem to be stuck in materialist mode, in which you won't think beyond the notion that all interactions are done by things subject to the same laws. God isn't at the same level as his creation.
@AthosAmo So now you redefine the universe as all things that interact naturally and supernaturally. I have nothing to say to your action which is moving the goalposts.
@upisoft2 I did not say that the universe is "all things that interact naturally and supernaturally." I have said that the universe is all natural things, including those which can act supernaturally as well as naturally.
@AthosAmo I didn't put words in your mouth. I'm not an atheist, so don't call names. That will not help you at all. You will be more stupid this way. What I said is what you said. If I wanted to describe all things natural supernatural or mixed, I would say "naturally and/or supernaturally". I said what you said, in mush shorter form. Anyway you are still moving the goalposts, the original definition of the universe you used was not that one you are now using. Bye.
@upisoft2 Agnostics are atheists. What are you doing here arguing against the existence of the Divine if you're not an atheist, which is someone who does not believe in the Divine? You lied. I did not say that "all things that interact naturally and supernaturally" are the universe. If that were so, God would be part of the universe. God the Father and the Holy Spirit are not part of nature. You say "bye" because you know you lied and can't do anything about your exposure.
@AthosAmo Oh, you made another mistake. I'm not agnostic either. You may continue calling me names, that will get you nothing. Except another short lecture that doing so is stupid. Also telling the truth that name calling is stupid is not hypocrisy. You just called me "hypocrite", because you have no real arguments. Instead you continue to play you goalpost moving game, now defining entities like "Divine", "spirits", etc. which were no part of our discussion.
@upisoft2 You're proud for no good reason. If you were proud and smart, at least you'd have some reason for being conceited. Yet you scram here in pride because you can't back up your lie that I said that "all things that interact naturally and supernaturally" are the universe.
@AthosAmo You said "The universe is the sum of its parts. Its parts are subject to natural laws. Therefore, the universe is." Check it. That's first thing you said to me. Nothing about supernatural in it. Who is telling lies?
@upisoft2 You said that if I continued name-calling, that I would be "more stupid," thus accusing me of being stupid, stupid hypocrite.
You argue against God, and are too cowardly to say what you believe, so you must be a liar, atheist. At the very least you are an atheist in practice.
I can bring up God because this is a video concerning God, idiot.
@upisoft2 And to clarify, the "us" that is part of the universe is just our physical us- our bodies. There is an "us" which is not part of the universe, which is the "us" as spirits. So not all of us is part of the universe. So I didn't define (or "redefine") the universe as including the spiritual.
@upisoft2 Isn't it ironic that you say that my calling you an atheist (what a horrible insult!) will not help me at all, even though immediately afterwards you say that by doing so I "will be more stupid"? Hypocrite.
@AthosAmo (cont...)Does the universe contain itself? Nope, therefore the universe is not an object subject to natural laws, as it was defined as all that is an object which is subject to natural laws.
WOW the fundy has to lie and be illogical and make a basless claim that the universe was created by his imaginary magic man. Then its all down hill from there.
The god of the gaps cant just hide in the clouds as it use to when the bible was written! LOL
When you can formulate a proper question, sir, I can answer it. I don't even know what you're trying to ask me. I would suggest properly wording your sentences.
@saiyanmage your an uneducated piece of shit. If I saw you id beat your shit. Faggot. No one loves you go burn in hell. And don't give me that bullshit he'll doesn't exist. It does and for ignorant assholes like you.
It doesn't exist, accept it, you imbecile. No shred of evidence to even suggest its existence. It's pretty funny how deep your delusion runs...
If you're really a christian, you wouldn't say such hateful things. Your Jesus preached tolerance and love. I've come to expect people such as yourself to be inconsistent in what they say.
You're the one that has to prove that it's not fiction to me, and all your 'evidence' is nowhere near good enough.
If you want to be skeptical about the theory of gravity, please take physics classes, learn what the concepts are, familiarize yourself with the calculations, and THEN speak of this.
All that 'proof' that god exists, complexity design and synchronization, the first two have been disproven in 2005, and the third one is merely an idiot's view of life. Everything is coincidental.
What does 'man thinking about creating things' have ANYTHING to do with a supernatural being?
Please don't quote mine from scientists. This isn't a popularity contest. Present EVIDENCE, please. Good day.
@0darkwizard0 If you're really saying that the CRUCIFIXION (not cuxifiction, and you claim to read the bible, lol) is not about absolving our sins by committing a human sacrifice, then you have no idea what your religion is all about.
And don't give me the bull crap "you should be thankful to god" line. You are working on the assumption that this god really exists. Which it doesn't. The books were written by people, and the so called "miracles" cannot be observed, proven, or replicated.
why try sooooooooo hard to prove the existence of a god that only gave you 34,000 hits and more dislikes than likes? why god favors a video of a cat vomiting over your video? why the hell your god hides so hard in the cracks of human knowledge?
@0darkwizard0 and let's not forget the worst thing it teaches. Nobody is held accountable for their ACTIONS. Nope! You can just sacrifice the son of god and get your sins absolved. Way to teach people to live their lives responsibly. Nope, you can simply shed off all that guilt by publicly torturing and killing someone. Nice lesson there.
And I mean benevolent because every damn religious retard says to me "god loves all his children" you only need to look at the world news for about 5 minutes to realize how much bullshit is in those five words. Once that's realized, open up your bible and notice the inconsistencies, contradictions, and outright immoral teachings.
Actually no, even if he did exist, I would not call him benevolent. Anyone who orders millions of deaths worldwide and demands prayer and to follow 10 stupid commandments, supposedly a supreme being capable of anything, is ridiculously EVIL. And don't give the bullshit answer "god works in mysterious ways" my ass. The idea of a god is manmade, just like every other idea of made throughout history.
Can you? Or do you think saying that something all powerful, benevolent and intangible did it? Do you really believe that an infinite regress can fix the situation?
If there is no proof for how it is, the answer is "I don't know" but YOUR answer is to fill the gap with something equally unexplainable.
"your point is senseless, if you think humans can have reason product the NOTHINGNESS" What does this mean?
You still didn't answer my earlier point.
Simply saying there is a master doesn't SOLVE ANYTHING. Because it's not really answering the question is it? If you want to be taken seriously, do some work and attempt at finding physical evidence. I asked you to speak coherently and you answer me with insults. Grow up.
@0darkwizard0 *yawn* You really are failing here Kid. "photons take millions of years to come out of the core" In Case you missed it I will say again " SUPER NOVA" Which means the star exploded and released A large amount of Energy, Mater, Gamma Rays, Radio Waves, Neutrinos and Regular Light Spectrum Photons ... all at the same time. The star was 168,000 light-years Away (further than your 6000 year old earth Myth) Once again, utter failure.
@0darkwizard0 A remarkable opportunity for observing neutrinos came with Supernova 1987A when the Japanese observing team ( The Kamioka NDE-II ) detected neutrinos almost coincident with the discovery of the light from the supernova. ( Actually they were slightly slower )
@0darkwizard0 Item One. Albert Einstein was a Physicist. not a Biologist. The Theory of Relativity still is current. Item Two: Neutrinos have not been proven to be faster than the speed of light yet. Item Three: The Theory of Evolution has been proven many times over such as Nylonase Bacteria, Ring species and countless others. Item Four: You are still a blithering idiot.
@0darkwizard0 Because YOU have Confused the word Theory. In Science a Theory is But up from one or more Hypothesis each of which is built up from one or more Facts. A Theory best explains all the facts and contradicts none of them. A Theory IS the Final destination.
You have used the word "Theory" to mean speculation and that is not correct.
@0darkwizard0 Haha...so listen, this conversation has started to bored me...The only thing that could change my mind is some overwhelming changes by the scientific community regarding evolution, not some turkey on youtube......It's not me, it's you...I just want some time apart...we can still be friends if we change the subject...do you like ice cream or goats? I happen to enjoy ice cream and and would absolutely love to own a pack of goats...or a squirell army...
@0darkwizard0 You are a blithering idiot who doesn't even understand the basic concept of the word "Theory" A coherent group of tested general propositions, commonly regarded as correct, that can be used as principles of explanation and prediction for a class of phenomena. Darwin admitted no such thing and that whole complex eye crap has been long since debunked.
@0darkwizard0 Incorrect. You did not ask me a question in this response. You stated a rhetorical quesiton and answered it. You made this personal and insulted my intelligence by saying my brain cannot handle that much intelligence. Too many emotions with you. Not worth it.
@0darkwizard0 It is unfair for you to assume you are smarter than I am. If you need to compare our brain's dick sizes fine. What is your highest level of education? That is a common factor people generally consider for intelligence.
@0darkwizard0 I simply stated facts that experts in this area have announced. If you want a specfic answer, you should consult a geneticist or someone who works in the field. I do not consider myself an expert and neither should you. You are not on the same level as them. They are the most credible source we have and you are a fool if you can't see that and accept what we have at our given time in science.
@0darkwizard0 Obviously there is evidence for evolution, modern scientists do not think dogs are more closely related to humans than monkeys, you argue based on no education and no evidence.
@0darkwizard0 Learn what the opposing argument is saying before you talk about a tooth. We have plenty of other complete transitional fossils to back our claims of evolution as well as a plethora of other scientific evidence to support that claim. Tell me something, if humans were created by god alongside ancient creatures such as dinosaurs then why haven't we found human fossils buried at the same level? Read a book, learn something, you are not proving anything besides your own ignorance.
@0darkwizard0 they say it should not exist because according to modern understanding of the laws of physics it should not exist, but that's not to say there are things regarding this star we do not yet understand. However that lack of understanding does not prove that any particular god exists. Learn how to read properly and stop twisting my words, I didn't say that an engine is why science is winning. I was showing an example of the wonders of modern science. Prove your god first, then talk.
1. Isaac Newton wasn't nearly stupid enough to use the incorrect grammatical form of "intelligent" in that sentence.
2. In their times, OUR great scientists used outdated language to explain what they knew to be a one-in-a-million universe. It's amazing, not miraculous.
3. I have no idea why subscribing to evolution would be like subscribing to a terro-centric universe. That was just a little fabrication of yours.
@0darkwizard0 My single and inarguable point is simply this: If you don't know how to speak proper English, you cannot POSSIBLY have anything to offer us in the field of theology. It's like saying you can beat Michael Johnson at the 100m dash and then not being able to walk 3 feet in front of yourself without stumbling. It's ridiculous. You're ridiculous. The vast majority of deists are ridiculous. I think that's hilarious.
@0darkwizard0 that star doesnt prove god either. there will always be things in science that arise and change the way we look at things. no one knows for sure why the star exists, perhaps there are perfectly good reasons for why it exists and we haven't discovered those reasons yet. if we knew everything we wouldn't need science. modern science is not being torn apart, modern science is experiencing a golden age, we have engines now that will take us to mars in 30 days. science is winning now.
@0darkwizard0 ... if humans can have a mind and think why not a supreme proportional being? Yes ok why not? it is possible but there is no real solid evidence to support the idea of such a being. If we gain evidence then great, science is not about trying to disprove god. science is about basing things on evidence so if the existence of a god turns out to be true then i will still be happy as long as we can know for sure. and that star doesn't mean modern science is being torn apart.
The 2nd law of thermodynamics doesn't apply to Earth because we receive energy from an outside source (our sun). Also if all things need a cause then what caused god?
@0darkwizard0 To the guy who called me an idiot: you misspelled synchronization and switched from plural to singular in the last sentence. First task: Learn to read.
@0darkwizard0 were are in a virtual copernicus revolution in astro physics - dark matter dark energy antimatter m theory - there are more strange things we are learning and thinking about than ever before - and this may always be the case - so there will always be room to stick god in the gaps of knowledge - however when you define the gap and insert god - through out the history of scientific discovery we find it wasnt god and can be explained
@0darkwizard0 existence exist and always will and has exist - the nature of existence prior to the begining of the universe is not knowable by our current methods - this doesnt mean that we can impose a creator with out real evidence - then to further designate the creator as being exempt to creation - unless we can define the creator as existence itself - this would not have alot of meaning as we know nothing of the nature of existence prior to the big big bang -so we can affirm nothing
Round of applause for the freshman who took and seriously misunderstood Calc 101 (google "infinite"), and softened the failure by attending an on campus church event. ./golfclap. ./weepforhumanity.
Just because the universe had a cause does not mean it had a creator. lol That's just stupid. It means SOMETHING has to cause it. lol This video is a joke.
@0darkwizard0 lol you are a joke.lol do you even know what we are talking about or have you forgot.lol
If the eye is soooo perfect as you claim it to be.lol If its not perfect then it wasn't made by no god. Are you having trouble keeping up or is this too much for you. Again Wow Really? Are you this stupid? How old are you? It sounds like you haven't been taught any of this in school yet.
@0darkwizard0 There you go again. Still do not know the facts.lol The perfect place the Earth is in is not as small as you think it is. Mars had liquid water. This is proven. So the perfect place is a lot bigger than you think. IF you just took the time to look this up. You would already have known that.lol If the eye was so perfect. Then why do we need glasses? Why are people born blind?lol A gene product of evolution? hahaha wow really?
If you learn anything about the eye and how not perfect it is. You wouldn't even bring that up. You don't know the facts. That's why you are losing. You have no idea too. It makes it even more funny. So what's next? are you going to take someone else idea and make it your own like you have been doing.lol
@0darkwizard0 The claim is false. The skeleton called Lucy does not have an intact knee. A different, isolated knee fossil was found two to three kilometers away (Johanson and Edey 1981). Confusion over the two fossils apparently led to the false claim. Far from indicating evolutionist dishonesty, this claim shows how creationists fail to check their claims (Lippard 1999). Do your homework before commenting again.
@0darkwizard0 What all planets are you talking about? the big bang particle could have come from a lot of things. We need more evidence. It won't be long. Look at evolution. there is so much evidence even the catholic church believes in it. To understand that. I suggest you learn more about the big bang as I did. The first second of the big bang is really cool and explains a lot.
@0darkwizard0 The strength of the Martian magnetic field has surprised scientists. Before it was suggested the field would be just 30-60 nT strong, recent evidence suggests the field is 400 nT strong — almost as strong as Mercury’s field.
@0darkwizard0 Bio station? No. Fairy tale? lol no There is evidence that there was life on Mars. It has more evidence than any religious fairy tale. Cosmic egg is what is most likely to cause the big bang.
Organism create by themselves? No that's impossible. I believe the evolved from something else. Mars does have a magnetic field. lol The internal field may not exist any more but it still has one.
@0darkwizard0 Will you have to really know about the big bang. It explains everything. The right spot you say the Earth is in, The right spot is a lot bigger than you think. The Mars robots have discovered a lot of evidence of life. We know for sure that there was water in liquid form. For that to happen the temp would have to be a lot like the Earth. Mars is 154,000,000 miles. That makes that right spot very big. This is all easy stuff to know.
@0darkwizard0 Study up more on the Big bang. The first second of the big bang. That's when everything formed together and why it formed without a intelligence. LOL Its pretty simple to understand. If you can.
So...where's the proof? If something was created does mean it has a creator. It just mean it was created by something else. Not a being of some kind. Dude.. This is just bad. It has more holes than Swiss cheese. I'll be nice and ask first. Would you like me to show you the error of your ways? lol
Who created "god" then. And who created him, and so on. I want to know as I would wish to pray to the top dog. I don't want to waste my time on some silly intern
@FORCHRST I don't know anyone that claims the universe to have not been created, but the question is by what. You use this term "Creator" quite a bit. "Creator" implies that there was thought and planning behind the creation of the universe. If you were to say that it was "created" then that's one thing but you are capitalizing the "c" with out proving your case behind it. Its universally excepted that there was a beginning, but was it GOD, prove that. What was the point of this vid again?
@ezekialwheel again you make my point valid because belittling people w/ sarcasm which maybe a part of your personality is not a trait of a "true christian" where god is "working" in their lives. Whats going on here is you hold on to this delusion and your true self comes out when people try and tell you it could be wrong.WE ARENT ATTACKING U ANY MORE THAN WE WOULD CLAIM U ARE ATTACKING US.. its just opinions. I WONT JUDGE U FOR BEING U OR CONDEMN U ETERNALLY IF U CHOOSE NOT TO BELIEVE.
Your gods property.. You have to committ your life to serving him and doing what he wants. You have an eternal servitude to god. Jesus will be your only reason for existing b/c he paid an ultimate price for you. But dont worry you will have the last laugh. The rest of us will be roasting in hell for having a different belief than you You & god can mock us for all eternity.while we melt in a lake of fire.. Enjoy ur afterlife and ill enjoy my present life. Isnt sarcasm fun??? Im better at it.!!
@sariglenn Its not about blind faith until you die to find out, it might be for most so called Christians, but for the few that ask Jesus for heaven now, a new Spirit, the Living Water and Christ revealed within them and to them as they read, fast and refrain from worldly pleasures while making these objectives their motive for reading and asking, then God reveals to them heaven within and Christ within literally making TWO into ONE.... You heard it here brother, heaven can be found now n here.
@just4fame Let me see if I have this right. For most so called christians its about blind faith. Exactly what is a so called christian.I would like to go on but this is a question that you should answer so its not lost in the mix of things. Im gonna try and define a so called christian. A person who has faith in what the bible tells and uses it to guide them thru life. ... Next.. its not about blind faith until you die to find out. I dont even know what that is implying!! explain better please
@just4fame Im guessing ur implying ur extra special in jesus' eyes because he has revealed himself to you and not to other so called christians. I honestly am trying to read your comment and I cant make heads or tails of it. But let me try. You have to live a sin free life in order to receieve a new spirit or christ? I dont know of any christian, muslim etc who lives a sin free life. Are you implying you refrain from wordly pleasures which include, movies, music, television, internet (oops), etc
@sariglenn I am not implying I am special, I am implying Jesus is special and does what HE promises if someone seeks with ALL their heart, ALL their mind, ALL their souls...and its not possible to do those three if we love the world or anything in it, Jesus said DO not love the world or anything in the world. He said what? SEEK the kingdom and HIS Spirit. Seek heaven? He said its found within... God gives the Living Water within, heaven within uniting a person to Christ.
@ezekialwheel Yep your definetly a christian. I can sense that jesus is working miracles inside of you by the sincere tone and genuine concern you have to spread the news of god to others. NOT!!!. Your living proof god doesnt exist. because if god was really working inside of you you would not be so arrogant and sarcastic. You would have a genuine concern for the fate of non believers. But instead your focus is on ridiculing them and belittling them. You actually make us non believers proud ty.
Argument from ignorance is ALL this is. You are basicly saying """since we cannot explain how the universe is here, your god hypothesis gets to pass""" and the energy thing is the same thing. """"Since you cannot explain how the universe can be infinite and still have energy, god did it"""
@ezekialwheel Scientists have different ideas like the universe contracting and then exploding, or an infinite inflation theory among others. WHAT SCIENCE DOES NOT DO IS USE MAGIC TO DESCRIBE HOW WE GOT HERE. Science uses precise mathmatical formulas and theories to do just the opposite. The idea that a god waved a magic wand or just thought us into existance is discarded b/c it is not a probable solution. Even a god would have to have a cause so the problem doesnt change.
What a load of garbage. Anyway, why does this 'singular' god have to be the christian god? Why would 'god' have just one kid? There are more holes in that religion than I can care to point out. In the modern age it's insane anyone can believe in god or gods. At what point does it stop being faith and start being blind stupidity? At what point are you simply ignoring reality?
And now as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on the truth you were taught and you will overflow with thankfulness. DONT let ANYONE capture you with EMPTY PHILOSOPHIES and HIGH SOUNDING NONSENSE that come from HUMAN THINKING and from the spiritual powers of this world RATHER than from CHRIST... COLOSSIANS 2:6-8
You are assuming the beginning came from god. Which is a somewhat plausible and not impossible explanation. But your not including other plausible and possible ideas. You have it narrowed down to one. Science likes to use a broader system and test multiple possiblities. B/c your not smart enough to come up w/ other ideas you choose to except the one your brain can understand. scientists are doing the work for us so we can have a better understanding of other plausible ways we came to be.
The third premise in the beginning of this video is flawd. Since a God does not logicall follow from the two first premises, this is how the third premise should be like
3: Therfore the universe was caused by something.
A creator does not logically follow, the cause can be for an example some natural explanation which we dont yet know about, or will ever know about.
This is basicly just an argument from ignorance, because we dont know how it happend, therfor God did it.
Religion has not supplied any benefit to mankind only negative things.
Just look at the creatards (are you one?) who trying to get their false rleigious beliefs into schools! They have no prob,em breaking laws and lying to do it offcourse.
AS I SAID your bible (the proof of your god LOL) says what an evil vile immoral asshole it would be if it was real.
I like to come and watch the stupidity and ignorance of the creatards its fascinating how the can be mentally damaged usually by their parents to believe stuch silly thing and then make stupid lies like the ones in the video.
You have proved NOTHING. You have completely ignored how the creator came into existence. All you have done is stuck a label on the creator which says "you cannot question the existence of this". Your understanding of logic is poor.
The one thing that no one ever talks about when talking about who or what created us, and whether we were created or not, WHY DOES GOD HAVE TO BE THE GOD OF THE BIBLE?Why can't it be some other God or Goddess or a bunch of Gods and Goddesses? that's what really bothers me, if you were really open to the truth you would be open to other ideas of who the creator was, but that wouldn't fit into your little world would it?
Obviously you are suggesting that this "Creator" was in existence before the creation of our universe, but that in itself is a blatant flaw. If the creator was in existence for an infinite amount of time before the moment the universe was created, that very moment would never occur. The alternate option is clearly that this creator was created by another. Tell me, which is it?
These arguments so assuming and they bounce all over the place. Why do you feel like you need to "prove" anything anyways? If you're happy, you're happy.....
I'm soo over all these Theists always saying WHO instead of WHAT created the universe. They are so programmed that they don't even realize that they ask it that way. And this ridiculous assumption that this so called "Creator" is even sentient or cares about this itty bitty speck we live on. Try thinking what an omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent being would even want. Why care for a single soul let alone a whole people? Why build something you're just gonna destroy? Is it Boredom? How lame.
@neojoeytabornal One more thing - you attacked my proposal that the first cause must be a mind, but you did not put forth any theory of your own on the first cause. This is something that I notice often among atheists/agnostics - they are quick to try to cast doubt on arguments like the cosmological argument, but they can't put forth any explanation of their own for how the Universe came into being. If there is no eternal being, how COULD the Universe have come into existence?
@Jake11384eb Why do you still insist that it is a WHO that created a Universe? Or that it is Eternal and not dead already? The Cosmological Argument is a lame duck. I mean no matter which side comes up with whatever, it's all gonna be speculation. The beginning of the Universe wasn't witnessed by anyone I know, or you for that matter. What we know about anything in regards to the Universe can fit in a thimble with enough room for an Elephant. We are afterall fish in a bowl floating on an Ocean.
@neojoeytabornal And I am comfortable not knowing what created the Universe. It doesn't matter to me in the here and now, which is all that matters. The Cosmological Argument is full of holes, many of which people fill with the word "God." Might as well be asking what Caused the First Cause. You can say God can do and be anything he wants all you want, but the proof is in the Pudding, or lack thereof. I mean, can God Create himself from nothing? And if he cannot, then why call him God?
@neojoeytabornal It's not that God created himself from nothing, it's that He always was, is, and will be. That is what eternal means. And while you may disagree with the idea that God is the first cause, the simple fact of the matter is that there must be something eternal that exists, because something cannot spontaneously emerge from absolute nothingness. Since something exists, something must have always existed. Based on my observations, I think it most likely that God always existed.
@Jake11384eb "There must be something eternal that exists," "Because something cannot spontaneously emerge from absolute nothingness." I mean how do you know? For instance, Lawrence Krauss, a Physicist distinguished in his field, postulated that the Universe came from nothing. Yeah, seems crazy, right? It has something to do with dark matter and mathematics, both of which I am clueless. I watched the vid here on Youtube and found it fascinating. It's long and plodding but good. Go check it out.
@Jake11384eb Accidentally sent the last comment to myself. It was meant for you. Oops. Juggling 3 things at once. It should be at or near the top of the comment section. Wsh I had an idea of how the Universe came to be, but I don't. All I can do is poke and prod the various ideas I come across. I do it with love and a skepticism. Some are just plain ridiculous, others seem legit. All need poking. It's just that the God of the Bible seems logically impossible and completely fallible to me.
@neojoeytabornal I'm very interested in hearing why you think that the God of the Bible seems logically impossible and fallible. Please message me if you would like to share and continue this discussion.
I have a question for those who say that the cosmological argument does not prove God's existence, because the first cause could be "an eternal aspect of nature" or something like that. My question is this: If the first cause is not sentient, how could it be eternal? To be without beginning, something must be non-material, because any material thing would be subject to time, and an infinite regress of time is impossible. The only non-material, eternal thing that could exist is a mind.
@Jake11384eb What makes you think that a mind is eternal? Don't you need a brain to have a mind? That takes a physical "body." Something that is NOT eternal. And if something is non-material, how can it possibly interact with the material? And an object that is non-material can STILL be subject to time. For example, your thoughts. Imagine a red ball. You need a brain to have the mind to "conjure" it up. It takes causality and time to produce, and it can NOT interact with the outside world.
@neojoeytabornal Why do you think that one MUST have a brain to have a mind? There are many evidences that seem to indicate mind-body dualism, the idea that the mind is a seperate entity that simply uses the brain to control the body. For example, there have been many cases of people briefly dying in the hospital, but then being brought back to life shortly thereafter, and they report having vivid consciousness and 'out-of-body' experiences during the time they were dead.
@Jake11384eb This whole thing with the near death experience is still suspect. It's all speculation and hearsay, which are in themselves, not proof. Of course, I'm not crazy to try to kill myself and be brought back to find out, even under laboratory conditions, but how can you have a mind without a brain or something of the like. The mind is an emergent process that uses induction (from stimuli) for deduction (building to conclusion). You need senses of some form, that takes a "physical".
@neojoeytabornal You could perhaps argue that a finite, singular mind like yours or mine must 'conjure up' thoughts, which seems to indicate a sort of causality and dependence on time. But if the God-mind exists, this mind is infinite and eternal. This means that it could think of all possible thoughts infinitely fast, or in other words, instantly. God did not have to 'conjure up' any thought. He always thought every thought, because He is eternal, and His mind is not singular like ours.
@Jake11384eb I still don't understand how anyone can say that "God" is infinitely anything. Faster, Smarter, bigger, badder, stronger, etcetera, etc. I mean how can you possibly know this? Where's the evidence? It's like me walking up to you and saying that I know this guy that can fly faster than Superman, and then not giving any evidentiary support to back any of it up, let alone that a Superman exists. Even if God's thoughts were instantaneous, they are STILL subject to time and causality.
That creator so to speak doesnt have to be sentient, its like a naturally occurring thing like the earthquake that hit new zealand. The plates in the earth are not sentient but caused the quake. Its amazing how christians only use science when it suits their agenda or when they can use the bible to say science backs the existance of a god. That said science can't prove beyond a doubt that there isnt a god, which science admits, but christians can't prove there is a god either, which they refuse to admt
Who cares? Only a minority of people r concerned fundamentally with these grand ideas. Most r more concerned with whether or not virgins have babies, whether or not dead men rise from the dead, wafers that bcom the body of a god, whose holy book is more credible, how the meat for the dinner table is slaughtered, correct behaviours of others, the evilness of others, which hole u put ur penis in, being right, whether or not someone can see ur face & on&on. Silly stuff, not big stuff.
Either way, it doesn't matter. The cosmological argument doesn't prove God even if you accept it in its entirety. It proves a cause - which might well be "an eternal aspect of nature".
It's quite amusing how you think you can spot instances of "things left to themselves without intelligent intervention tending towards disorder" in a universe you claim is designed by the omnipresent Christian God.
The problems highlighted by the question "What caused God?" are entirely independent of the detailed formulation of this argument. The question is not an objection in itself. The objections depend on how you answer it.
For example, you might admit that you don't believe complex phenomena like intelligence require a cause, when in reality what we call intelligence is evidence evaluation that presupposes both causality to initiate it and specific material organizations to implement it.
If there is a God, then he is obviously extremely busy because he created an unfathomably massive universe and I'm sure that he has countless of other planets to go and check on as well as us! (what a waste of space if there arent!!) - I hope he gets done with them soon, so he, or his son, can come back and get us to stop cutting each others heads off in the name of one religion or another..... :-)
This video makes so many assumptions in the name of its own argument its unbelievable, literally
If time began with the universe how could it have there be a cause for it. The cause and effect principle is contingent upon time. therefore if time started with the universe, there could be no cause for it if there was no time in which the posited cause could cause anything.
so are you saying god created himself from nonthing cuz im confused abt how god came to be cuz he couldnt have just came from no where and started creating everything something had to happen but we just dont kno
LOL. Gordon H. Clark proved that the cosmological argument was a logical fallacy in God's Hammer: the Bible and it's Critics.
"The universe is running down, hence cannot be eternal. Otherwise it would have run out of usable energy long ago."
ROFLOL! Why do you keep this crap up!? No athiest is converted to Christ by this crap. Only the Sovereign God of the Bible can cause people to have faith in the Bible!
@InternetDisciple Disregard that retardation I previously posted about matter not being able to create itself, I actually realize that the only logical conclusion of matter exist that can't be created (conservation of energy, first law of thermodynamics) is that it existed indefinitely
"(..)Por conseguinte, tudo o que se move é movido por outro. Mas se o que move é por sua vez, também movido, é necessário que seja movido por outro e este por um outro. Mas não se pode seguir indefinidamente, porque assim não haveria motor algum, (...)" Provas cosmológicas da existência de Deus (cinco vias de S. Tomás)
It's not our job to prove God's existence to an atheist.Attempting to do so could lead to an argument. If it doesn't, you'll end up dropping the subject.I'm speaking from experience. The only 2 things we can do is show them the love of Jesus Christ and pray for them.Atheists have the wrong idea of who God is.
@9886635574 I can't do that. You see you have no idea who God is.You see him as a vengeful angry God.You misunderstood the Bible.Jesus died for you.I guess you already heard that.As christians we're called to tell others about Jesus. If they reject the message we're supposed to move on to someone who will accept the good news.Jesus told his disciples not to force the message on anyone, although he worded it differently and it's implied.I am concerned for your soul.
A minor point: one thing he claimed is simply false. You can add up an infinite number of POSITIVE values and get a finite result. Some infinite series converge.
Ex: Walk half the distance to the door in your room. Then half the remaining distance. Then half the remaining distance. Do this forever. Every time you walk, you move a positive (though VERY small) distance, but the sum of infinite number of distances you walked isn't infinite, but just the initial distance between you and the door.
There's always the danger of trying to prove or justify the existence of God, since He's not likely to want to be seen or impose on those who do not want to know Him.
It would be difficult for one to maintain the belief he is the center of the universe while this other dude (God) is standing there and spoiling it all... LOL.
Go away God ...shooo. Now, where was I? O yea, I AM LORD!!

Christian: Who made the universe?
Atheist: I don't know, who do you think made the universe?
Christian:God.
Atheist: Who made god ?
Christian: Um.... Uh..... Um..... He made himself
Atheist: Sure he did.... Sure he did.
Snipehsheep 1 month ago
@Snipehsheep God is the proposition of an entity not natural, so you can't subject it to natural laws like cause & effect which Newton covered. God is not an effect. Atheists tend to start their arguments by begging the question that their materialistic faith is already proven. It isn't, and it is actually disproven. I did it the other day.
AthosAmo 3 weeks ago
@AthosAmo Nor the universe is an entity. Universe is an abstract. It is the set of all that exists and is subject of natural laws. The Universe is not subject of natural laws itself.
upisoft2 2 weeks ago
@upisoft2 The universe is the sum of its parts. Its parts are subject to natural laws. Therefore, the universe is.
AthosAmo 2 weeks ago
@AthosAmo No, the universe cannot be contained within itself, nor you can move it or accelerate it. Nor you can look at it, you will be watching the contents, not the universe. Can you put the universe in water to test if it floats? No. Why? Because the universe is not its contents, it is an abstract. In the same sense the set of all red objects is not red itself, otherwise it would contain itself.
(cont..)
upisoft2 2 weeks ago
@upisoft2 "Because the universe is not its contents, it is an abstract." False dichotomy. It is the abstract term for all physical things collectively. It is abstract because we are not omniscient. So we can only imagine most physical things.
AthosAmo 2 weeks ago
@AthosAmo Nonsense. You don't need to be omniscient to understand the difference. You can't paint the set of all red objects in green, the set is not an object and it does not have physical boundaries that could be painted. The same is valid for the universe, you can't paint it as it has no surface like other objects have. All objects have such physical boundaries that define where the object ends and something else begins. You can show that "something else".
(cont..)
upisoft2 2 weeks ago
@upisoft2 "You can show that 'something else'." You can't show an idea. Does that mean ideas don't exist? Of course not. You can't show the mind. The brain is not the mind, since the mind clearly has free will, which would be impossible if materialism were true, as materialism would mean that we would be completely predetermined by physics. My mind is not forced by any physics to settle on my pinky when starting to cut my nails. You know it. This proves atheism and materialism false.
AthosAmo 2 weeks ago
@AthosAmo (cont..) With the universe you can't show the boundaries nor you can show that "something else". You can't even show that something else exists. Anyway even if something else exists we don't know how it interacts with universe. By definition this interaction is not subject of natural laws. If it was subject of natural laws it should be part of the universe.
upisoft2 2 weeks ago
@upisoft2 Once again, you don't have to show the universe in its entirety to know that it is real. By definition, it is the sum of its parts. Its parts are physical, and you know that many physical things exist which we cannot see. All of them combined are referred to as the universe. Since when does the existence of something depend on your observing it? Why so desperate to deny that the universe exists?
AthosAmo 2 weeks ago
@upisoft2 Since the universe is defined as all physical things collectively, anything else would be supernatural.
AthosAmo 2 weeks ago
@upisoft2 "You can't even show that something else exists." WIth logic, I have, in my 3-slide video "The supernatural PROVEN. Atheists thumb this down because they can't refute it."
AthosAmo 2 weeks ago
@AthosAmo As I said even is something else exists it does not matter, because it will not interact with the universe using natural laws. They will be supernatural laws if you wish. Therefore the universe will interact supernaturally and not naturally as you insist.
upisoft2 2 weeks ago
@upisoft2 I see what you mean, but the natural would be the object and not the subject doing any of the acting, unless a natural human who has supernatural spirit interacts by prayer. If it is a rock, it can be only the object being acted upon. If us, we can be both object and subject. You seem to be stuck in materialist mode, in which you won't think beyond the notion that all interactions are done by things subject to the same laws. God isn't at the same level as his creation.
AthosAmo 2 weeks ago
@AthosAmo So now you redefine the universe as all things that interact naturally and supernaturally. I have nothing to say to your action which is moving the goalposts.
upisoft2 2 weeks ago
@upisoft2 I did not say that the universe is "all things that interact naturally and supernaturally." I have said that the universe is all natural things, including those which can act supernaturally as well as naturally.
Don't put words in my mouth, atheist.
AthosAmo 2 weeks ago
@AthosAmo I didn't put words in your mouth. I'm not an atheist, so don't call names. That will not help you at all. You will be more stupid this way. What I said is what you said. If I wanted to describe all things natural supernatural or mixed, I would say "naturally and/or supernaturally". I said what you said, in mush shorter form. Anyway you are still moving the goalposts, the original definition of the universe you used was not that one you are now using. Bye.
upisoft2 2 weeks ago
@upisoft2 Agnostics are atheists. What are you doing here arguing against the existence of the Divine if you're not an atheist, which is someone who does not believe in the Divine? You lied. I did not say that "all things that interact naturally and supernaturally" are the universe. If that were so, God would be part of the universe. God the Father and the Holy Spirit are not part of nature. You say "bye" because you know you lied and can't do anything about your exposure.
AthosAmo 2 weeks ago
@AthosAmo Oh, you made another mistake. I'm not agnostic either. You may continue calling me names, that will get you nothing. Except another short lecture that doing so is stupid. Also telling the truth that name calling is stupid is not hypocrisy. You just called me "hypocrite", because you have no real arguments. Instead you continue to play you goalpost moving game, now defining entities like "Divine", "spirits", etc. which were no part of our discussion.
upisoft2 2 weeks ago
@upisoft2 Also for some time you are not discussing what we were discussing, so I have no interest to discuss it any longer. Be nice, say bye.
Bye.
upisoft2 2 weeks ago
@upisoft2 You're proud for no good reason. If you were proud and smart, at least you'd have some reason for being conceited. Yet you scram here in pride because you can't back up your lie that I said that "all things that interact naturally and supernaturally" are the universe.
AthosAmo 2 weeks ago

@AthosAmo You said "The universe is the sum of its parts. Its parts are subject to natural laws. Therefore, the universe is." Check it. That's first thing you said to me. Nothing about supernatural in it. Who is telling lies?
upisoft2 2 weeks ago
@upisoft2 You said that if I continued name-calling, that I would be "more stupid," thus accusing me of being stupid, stupid hypocrite.
You argue against God, and are too cowardly to say what you believe, so you must be a liar, atheist. At the very least you are an atheist in practice.
I can bring up God because this is a video concerning God, idiot.
AthosAmo 2 weeks ago
@upisoft2 And to clarify, the "us" that is part of the universe is just our physical us- our bodies. There is an "us" which is not part of the universe, which is the "us" as spirits. So not all of us is part of the universe. So I didn't define (or "redefine") the universe as including the spiritual.
AthosAmo 2 weeks ago
@upisoft2 Isn't it ironic that you say that my calling you an atheist (what a horrible insult!) will not help me at all, even though immediately afterwards you say that by doing so I "will be more stupid"? Hypocrite.
AthosAmo 2 weeks ago
@AthosAmo (cont...)Does the universe contain itself? Nope, therefore the universe is not an object subject to natural laws, as it was defined as all that is an object which is subject to natural laws.

You're the one that has to prove that it's not fiction to me, and all your 'evidence' is nowhere near good enough.
If you want to be skeptical about the theory of gravity, please take physics classes, learn what the concepts are, familiarize yourself with the calculations, and THEN speak of this.
Good day, sir.

@0darkwizard0
First of all, the bible is a piece of fiction.

The books were written by people, and the so called "miracles" cannot be observed, proven, or replicated.
saiyanmage 2 months ago
why try sooooooooo hard to prove the existence of a god that only gave you 34,000 hits and more dislikes than likes? why god favors a video of a cat vomiting over your video? why the hell your god hides so hard in the cracks of human knowledge?

@0darkwizard0 and let's not forget the worst thing it teaches. Nobody is held accountable for their ACTIONS. Nope! You can just sacrifice the son of god and get your sins absolved. @0darkwizard0
And I mean benevolent because every damn religious retard says to me "god loves all his children" you only need to look at the world news for about 5 minutes to realize how much bullshit is in those five words. Once that's realized, open up your bible and notice the inconsistencies, contradictions, and outright immoral teachings.
saiyanmage 3 months ago
@0darkwizard0

@0darkwizard0
Can you? Or do you think saying that something all powerful, benevolent and intangible did it? Do you really believe that an infinite regress can fix the situation?

GregQzag 3 months ago
@0darkwizard0 Because YOU have Confused the word Theory. In Science a Theory is But up from one or more Hypothesis each of which is built up from one or more Facts. A Theory best explains all the facts and contradicts none of them. A Theory IS the Final destination.
You have used the word "Theory" to mean speculation and that is not correct.

TheBluePortal1310 4 months ago
@0darkwizard0 they say it should not exist because according to modern understanding of the laws of physics it should not exist, but that's not to say there are things regarding this star we do not yet understand. However that lack of understanding does not prove that any particular god exists. Learn how to read properly and stop twisting my words, I didn't say that an engine is why science is winning. I was showing an example of the wonders of modern science. Prove your god first, then talk.
TheBluePortal1310 4 months ago
@0darkwizard0 I'll enumerate:
4. DONT TALK ABOUT BABIES FOO!
drayofchilastra 4 months ago
@0darkwizard0 My theory (evolution) is exactly one molar richer than yours, in your example. :D
P.S. thanks for finally proofreading your posts. You're on the way to average intellect. Keep at it.

I think that's hilarious.
drayofchilastra 4 months ago
@0darkwizard0 that star doesnt prove god either. there will always be things in science that arise and change the way we look at things. no one knows for sure why the star exists, perhaps there are perfectly good reasons for why it exists and we haven't discovered those reasons yet. if we knew everything we wouldn't need science. modern science is not being torn apart, modern science is experiencing a golden age, we have engines now that will take us to mars in 30 days. science is winning now.
TheBluePortal1310 4 months ago
@0darkwizard0 ... if humans can have a mind and think why not a supreme proportional being? Yes ok why not? it is possible but there is no real solid evidence to support the idea of such a being. If we gain evidence then great, science is not about trying to disprove god. science is about basing things on evidence so if the existence of a god turns out to be true then i will still be happy as long as we can know for sure. and that star doesn't mean modern science is being torn apart.

SuperMrAtheist 5 months ago
@0darkwizard0 There you go again. Still do not know the facts.lol The perfect place the Earth is in is not as small as you think it is. Mars had liquid water. This is proven. So the perfect place is a lot bigger than you think. IF you just took the time to look this up. You would already have known that.lol If the eye was so perfect. Then why do we need glasses? Why are people born blind?lol A gene product of evolution? hahaha wow really?
SuperMrAtheist 5 months ago
If you learn anything about the eye and how not perfect it is. You wouldn't even bring that up. You don't know the facts. That's why you are losing. You have no idea too. It makes it even more funny. So what's next? are you going to take someone else idea and make it your own like you have been doing.lol
SuperMrAtheist 6 months ago
@0darkwizard0 You are still not looking at all the facts. Keep looking. You can do it.
SuperMrAtheist 6 months ago
@0darkwizard0 The claim is false. The skeleton called Lucy does not have an intact knee. A different, isolated knee fossil was found two to three kilometers away (Johanson and Edey 1981). Confusion over the two fossils apparently led to the false claim. Far from indicating evolutionist dishonesty, this claim shows how creationists fail to check their claims (Lippard 1999). Do your homework before commenting again.
SuperMrAtheist 6 months ago
@0darkwizard0 Wow dude. What's your point?
SuperMrAtheist 6 months ago

SuperMrAtheist 6 months ago
@0darkwizard0 Bio station? No. Fairy tale? lol no There is evidence that there was life on Mars. It has more evidence than any religious fairy tale. Cosmic egg is what is most likely to cause the big bang.
Organism create by themselves? No that's impossible. I believe the evolved from something else. Mars does have a magnetic field. lol The internal field may not exist any more but it still has one.
SuperMrAtheist 6 months ago
@0darkwizard0 Will you have to really know about the big bang. It explains everything. The right spot you say the Earth is in, The right spot is a lot bigger than you think. The Mars robots have discovered a lot of evidence of life. We know for sure that there was water in liquid form. For that to happen the temp would have to be a lot like the Earth. Mars is 154,000,000 miles. That makes that right spot very big. This is all easy stuff to know.
SuperMrAtheist 6 months ago
@0darkwizard0 Study up more on the Big bang. The first second of the big bang. That's when everything formed together and why it formed without a intelligence. LOL Its pretty simple to understand. If you can.
SuperMrAtheist 6 months ago
So...where's the proof? If something was created does mean it has a creator. It just mean it was created by something else. Not a being of some kind. Dude.. This is just bad. It has more holes than Swiss cheese. I'll be nice and ask first. Would you like me to show you the error of your ways? lol

What was the point of this vid again?
scyphai 7 months ago

You heard it here brother, heaven can be found now n here.
just4fame 7 months ago
@just4fame Let me see if I have this right. For most so called christians its about blind faith. Exactly what is a so called christian.I would like to go on but this is a question that you should answer so its not lost in the mix of things. Im gonna try and define a so called christian. A person who has faith in what the bible tells and uses it to guide them thru life. ... Next.. its not about blind faith until you die to find out. I dont even know what that is implying!! explain better please
sariglenn 7 months ago
@just4fame Im guessing ur implying ur extra special in jesus' eyes because he has revealed himself to you and not to other so called christians. I honestly am trying to read your comment and I cant make heads or tails of it. But let me try. You have to live a sin free life in order to receieve a new spirit or christ? I dont know of any christian, muslim etc who lives a sin free life. Are you implying you refrain from wordly pleasures which include, movies, music, television, internet (oops), etc
sariglenn 7 months ago
@sariglenn I am not implying I am special, I am implying Jesus is special and does what HE promises if someone seeks with ALL their heart, ALL their mind, ALL their souls...and its not possible to do those three if we love the world or anything in it, Jesus said DO not love the world or anything in the world. He said what? SEEK the kingdom and HIS Spirit. Seek heaven? He said its found within... God gives the Living Water within, heaven within uniting a person to Christ.
just4fame 7 months ago

""""Since you cannot explain how the universe can be infinite and still have energy, god did it"""
gulbirk 7 months ago
@ezekialwheel Scientists have different ideas like the universe contracting and then exploding, or an infinite inflation theory among others. WHAT SCIENCE DOES NOT DO IS USE MAGIC TO DESCRIBE HOW WE GOT HERE. Science uses precise mathmatical formulas and theories to do just the opposite. The idea that a god waved a magic wand or just thought us into existance is discarded b/c it is not a probable solution. Even a god would have to have a cause so the problem doesnt change.

The one thing that no one ever talks about when talking about who or what created us, and whether we were created or not, WHY DOES GOD HAVE TO BE THE GOD OF THE BIBLE?Why can't it be some other God or Goddess or a bunch of Gods and Goddesses? that's what really bothers me, if you were really open to the truth you would be open to other ideas of who the creator was, but that wouldn't fit into your little world would it?
claraj1968 9 months ago
Obviously you are suggesting that this "Creator" was in existence before the creation of our universe, but that in itself is a blatant flaw. If the creator was in existence for an infinite amount of time before the moment the universe was created, that very moment would never occur. The alternate option is clearly that this creator was created by another. Tell me, which is it?
cheatsmith 9 months ago
These arguments so assuming and they bounce all over the place. Why do you feel like you need to "prove" anything anyways? If you're happy, you're happy.....
derekge 9 months ago
I'm soo over all these Theists always saying WHO instead of WHAT created the universe. They are so programmed that they don't even realize that they ask it that way. And this ridiculous assumption that this so called "Creator" is even sentient or cares about this itty bitty speck we live on. Try thinking what an omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent being would even want. Why care for a single soul let alone a whole people? Why build something you're just gonna destroy? Is it Boredom? How lame.
neojoeytabornal 10 months ago
@neojoeytabornal One more thing - you attacked my proposal that the first cause must be a mind, but you did not put forth any theory of your own on the first cause. This is something that I notice often among atheists/agnostics - they are quick to try to cast doubt on arguments like the cosmological argument, but they can't put forth any explanation of their own for how the Universe came into being. If there is no eternal being, how COULD the Universe have come into existence?
Jake11384eb 10 months ago
@Jake11384eb Why do you still insist that it is a WHO that created a Universe? Or that it is Eternal and not dead already? The Cosmological Argument is a lame duck. I mean no matter which side comes up with whatever, it's all gonna be speculation. The beginning of the Universe wasn't witnessed by anyone I know, or you for that matter. What we know about anything in regards to the Universe can fit in a thimble with enough room for an Elephant. We are afterall fish in a bowl floating on an Ocean.
neojoeytabornal 10 months ago
@neojoeytabornal And I am comfortable not knowing what created the Universe. It doesn't matter to me in the here and now, which is all that matters. The Cosmological Argument is full of holes, many of which people fill with the word "God." Might as well be asking what Caused the First Cause. You can say God can do and be anything he wants all you want, but the proof is in the Pudding, or lack thereof. I mean, can God Create himself from nothing? And if he cannot, then why call him God?
neojoeytabornal 10 months ago
@neojoeytabornal It's not that God created himself from nothing, it's that He always was, is, and will be. That is what eternal means. And while you may disagree with the idea that God is the first cause, the simple fact of the matter is that there must be something eternal that exists, because something cannot spontaneously emerge from absolute nothingness. Since something exists, something must have always existed. Based on my observations, I think it most likely that God always existed.
Jake11384eb 10 months ago

Jake11384eb 10 months ago
I have a question for those who say that the cosmological argument does not prove God's existence, because the first cause could be "an eternal aspect of nature" or something like that. My question is this: If the first cause is not sentient, how could it be eternal? To be without beginning, something must be non-material, because any material thing would be subject to time, and an infinite regress of time is impossible. The only non-material, eternal thing that could exist is a mind.
Jake11384eb 10 months ago
@Jake11384eb What makes you think that a mind is eternal? Don't you need a brain to have a mind? That takes a physical "body." Something that is NOT eternal. And if something is non-material, how can it possibly interact with the material? And an object that is non-material can STILL be subject to time. For example, your thoughts. Imagine a red ball. You need a brain to have the mind to "conjure" it up. It takes causality and time to produce, and it can NOT interact with the outside world.
neojoeytabornal 10 months ago
@neojoeytabornal Why do you think that one MUST have a brain to have a mind? There are many evidences that seem to indicate mind-body dualism, the idea that the mind is a seperate entity that simply uses the brain to control the body. For example, there have been many cases of people briefly dying in the hospital, but then being brought back to life shortly thereafter, and they report having vivid consciousness and 'out-of-body' experiences during the time they were dead.
Jake11384eb 10 months ago
@Jake11384eb This whole thing with the near death experience is still suspect. It's all speculation and hearsay, which are in themselves, not proof. Of course, I'm not crazy to try to kill myself and be brought back to find out, even under laboratory conditions, but how can you have a mind without a brain or something of the like. The mind is an emergent process that uses induction (from stimuli) for deduction (building to conclusion). You need senses of some form, that takes a "physical".
neojoeytabornal 10 months ago
@neojoeytabornal You could perhaps argue that a finite, singular mind like yours or mine must 'conjure up' thoughts, which seems to indicate a sort of causality and dependence on time. But if the God-mind exists, this mind is infinite and eternal. This means that it could think of all possible thoughts infinitely fast, or in other words, instantly. God did not have to 'conjure up' any thought. He always thought every thought, because He is eternal, and His mind is not singular like ours.
Jake11384eb 10 months ago
@Jake11384eb I still don't understand how anyone can say that "God" is infinitely anything. Faster, Smarter, bigger, badder, stronger, etcetera, etc. I mean how can you possibly know this? Where's the evidence? It's like me walking up to you and saying that I know this guy that can fly faster than Superman, and then not giving any evidentiary support to back any of it up, let alone that a Superman exists. Even if God's thoughts were instantaneous, they are STILL subject to time and causality.

Gnomefro 11 months ago
The problems highlighted by the question "What caused God?" are entirely independent of the detailed formulation of this argument. The question is not an objection in itself. The objections depend on how you answer it.
For example, you might admit that you don't believe complex phenomena like intelligence require a cause, when in reality what we call intelligence is evidence evaluation that presupposes both causality to initiate it and specific material organizations to implement it.
Gnomefro 11 months ago

If time began with the universe how could it have there be a cause for it. The cause and effect principle is contingent upon time. therefore if time started with the universe, there could be no cause for it if there was no time in which the posited cause could cause anything.

lol - "For everything that has a beginning needs a Beginner."
These "actual infinite" arguments fail. The apologists use of the concept of "moments" in describing time is just silly.
The issue is moot, since time itself isn't the simple universal immutable thing that apologists treat it as in these arguments.
The Big Bang occurred, but there's no getting to "therefore God exists" from that observation.

LOL.
