  • In regular people, the tones from this second set come out either very thin or like shrill shrieks, or both.... He not only has a Gods gift with his set of second vocal cords, but he has trained them as well. It actually sounds nice when he uses them. Maybe not to the average gay basher, but to most of us, yes.

Try doing it yourself and see how HARD it is. Once you have mastered the art, then you can come back and bash him. Until then: STFU.

  • As a mezzo, I have three registers. Chest, throat and a head voice. But I am a woman, I cang sing normally in a high range using my normal set of vocal chors.

He is a man with a longer set of regular cords, which can be heard in his speaking voice, and therefore, if he wants to sing in the higer register, has to resort to his second set of vocal cords. They are shorter, but they lack of course, the possibilities of the first set.

  • Cheap pop commercial crap presented as TRUE BAROQUE just for money! A true opera singer no matter if it's a CT or a bass is supposed to sing with his VOICE with an operatic technique, not just superficially playing on his vocal cords without any depth and attachment to the image! It's enough only for POP to show a BALET of a singer's feminine fingers and amplify his weak empty voice with a microphone without which he wouldn't be even heard!Haim proves it's POP, she is too AGITATED for cllassics!

  • @serenaluce What total nonsense you speak !! When is Porpora even done ?? Rare and your comments are totally baseless.

  • @composer369 Porpora is done too. Anyway, even to perform a piece well forgotten and if you can't find another version on YT... it doesn't mean that it's impossible to tell with people with good ears that it's pure pop. PJ's voice is absolutely FLAT, ONE DIMENTIONAL, there's no DEPTH in it. Classically trained opera singers should have 3 well-develloped registers, and CTs are no exception. PJ has only HIGH NOTES and some of the middle. No LOW NOTES at all. It's not baroque, it's modern POP!

  • @serenaluce Your comments discount themselves in excess and overstatement. The CT style has always been more to the pure side - what you call flat - and it adds vibrato only as an ornament: it thereby gains its superiority. But this is also why it was so popular in the late Renaissance & Baroque and fell off with Gallant, Neoclassical and Romantic eras. What you feel he looses in "flatness" he surpasses thrice over in agility and exuberance. This repertoire cannot endure walrus warble.

  • @musicalidea Come on, you have no idea of the musica you speak of. All voices have naturally more or less vibratO. What is added as an ornament is called VIBRATI! First educate yourself about the difference. Also, true baroque is about CASTRATI who were poweful singing machines with a huge RANGE and sounded MANLY. Only FALSETTISTS who always existed sang in FLAT voices only on HIGH NOTES like PJ now who had an opposite purpose - to show their sexual ambiguity. Walrus warble is CECILIA BARTOLI!!!

  • @kosoglazaya1 A pochemu nel'zya? A pochemu u vas takoe strannoe imya pol'zovatelya? Pochemu kosoglazaya? Mozhet u vas u vkus v muzyke i v muzhchinakh kosoglazyi?:-) I vse ravno eto chistoi vody POPSA, a ne barokko. Porpora v grobu perevorachivaetsya...

  • @kosoglazaya1 Zdravstvuite, s Pravoslavnym Rozhdestvom vas!:-) Slushaite, davaite ne budem ssorit'sya, a luchshe druzhit':-). Eto pravda, kto zh togda budet po etoi greshnoi zemle khodit'?:-) Tol'ko vy sami sebe protivorechite: nazyvaete PJ serebristym angelom, a potom ego zhe na zemlyu opuskaete, a s angelov i spros pobol'she:-). Da, konechno, PJ - eshe ne samyi khudshii variant kosoglaziya, i vy tozhe: mog byt' heavy metal:-)Tol'ko PJ -sovsem ne CT,a manera,v kotoroi on poet Porpora - POPSA:-)

  • @kosoglazaya1 Net, tut vy ne pravy! Vyshe orlov nikto ne letaet! U PJ kryl'ev net! On - zhivoi chelovek, a ne angel! LOL Da Porpora uzhe davno otpelsya khot' v kakoi manere, t.k. umer bol'she 200 let nazad! LOL Kstati, on voobshe kompozitor, i etu veshichku sochinil, kotoruyu PJ v popsovoi manere na potekhu publiki spel. Da, ochen' interesno! LOL A voobshe, castrato v barokko byl tsar' i bog. I muzhchin ne dlya togo kastrirovali, chtoby oni potom podrostkov imitirovali kak PJ.Podumaite nad etim!

  • @composer369 Ignore that woman. She is a person who dislikes succesfull opera singers. Most of her comments are negative, so I guess discussing with her is just a waste of time xD

  • superbe j'adore,magnifique voix

  • Bravissimo Jaroussky!!

  • @rodyspace You'd rather have another black-embalmed stick twitcher?

  • @rodyspace Maybe you want Jaroussky to hold still, too?

  • @rodyspace I suppose you want to Beecham approach--dead, un-moving, rearranged in a 19th century way and unemotional. What would that prove? Nothing !

  • I LOVE YOUR VOICE!!!!

  • @Nicrossmen Thank you!

  • I would have thought that I heard an also singing!!! Bravo, Jaroussky!!

  • superb... makes me cry

  • This Really remembers me The great Vivaldi's Operas but this is and avanced orchestra

  • Superb interpretation!

  • 1.35 a 1.40

  • this tune and voice prolong my life

  • I had heard of Porpora, but did not know he was coming from both the English musical tradition in this song, very reminiscent Handel and Telemann.

  • großartig Junge

  • Think about the lucky baby in Mrs. Haim's belly - hearing this music already before being born, feeling its mother "dance" with the music, and feeling all the positive sensations that Mrs. Haim does surely feel in those moments... This ought to be a music-loving human being!

  • Life has no guarantees, the baby may just love rap and heavy metal.

  • OMG! that's just divine!

  • Devine!

  • Brlliant! Gave me goosebumps!

  • he is fantastic.

  • Bravissimo-On the wings of an angel

  • Canta maravilloso. Magnifico!

  • I think it unlikely you will find anyone with a voice like Jaroussky's.

  • magnifico!!!!

  • Does anyone know whether there is a DVD with these recordings? I found the Audio-CD, but nothing else...

    thank you!

  • this is a promo

  • one day I wish I will sing it

  • What an exceptional voice and beautiful expressiveness...Magnific!!!

  • ...sto ballando sulla sedia! :)

  • Bravo Philippe Jaroussky!

Bravissimo!

  • Exelente,supremo magnifico.

  • bravissimo! eccezzionale! un usignolo! vorrei imparare anchi'io a diventare un sopranista!

  • Grande!!! Bravoooooo!!!

  • Bravo is correct!!! That was great.

  • il a des seins

  • god, i can't find the sheet music or score ANYWHERE...any ideas?

  • Porpora's stuff is impossible to find, it seems. There's a Porpora Project somewhere on the internet (Google it), but it charges a fair amount per score. I wonder why this lovely composer isn't more popular these days compared to his contemporaries (Bach, Vivaldi, Corelli, etc.). His arias are marvelous!

  • I know!! I saw that Project as well, and am seriously confused as to why his music isn't revived...I hope it's only a matter of time, and PJ will be to Porpora as Cecilia Bartoli was to Salieri.

  • It's an excellent video, not only because of Jarusskys exceptional voice but also because there "classical" gender roles of dirigent and singer are changed in a quite sublime way...

  • I love the music here, tres baroque if I am not mistaken??

  • Very much indeed! ; )

  • I prefer Cecilia Bartoli. She articulates the music better.

This guy is undoubtedly exceptional but to my taste it tires me after a while.

  • i am looking forward to seeing this amazing performer live too. lisbon awaits.

    :-)

  • It's just amazing how these opera vocalists can sing with excellent voice and breath control. Such a beautiful voice he has, indeed.

Jaroussky is my fav. countertenor :)

  • One thing - BRAVO !

  • iihhh hihiih ihiiiih iihihihi LOL

  • MI PARE INTERESSANTE COME INTERPRETAZIONE .....LE AGILITA' SONO PRECISE , L'INTONAZIONE ANCHE...PORPORA E' FORMIDABILE ANCHE SE CREDO NON SIA PROPRIO NELLE CORDE DI Philippe Jaroussky MEGLIO ANTONIO VIVALDI

  • Well..... first time ever I hear this counter tenor! Wonderfull! - Where is he from?

  • He is a french singer.

  • thank you mehdi .i am really like fonts of translation also i like jaroussky in interviews with easy translation.i study english translation at cairo university.did jaroussky study ballet or dance .look to his hands.he moves like swan .also i like opera singers for example jaroussky who express

    his feeling in hands movements

also he is very intellegent he independent from musical notations

  • Sublime music and a truly wonderful voice. Jaroussky is not only great to listen to, his breathing, his tone and his musicality is just spell bounding.I hope i will have the honor to see him perform live one day.

  • very very good! i love his voice

  • What great music and singer. 100% baroque!

  • sei bravissimo :-)

  • There are no Porpora operas recorded in the full. Only a few arias were recorded along the decades, although there has been some performances, also very rarely. But I do think that, in some time, there will be a recording, for now we have some quality singers (such as Jaroussky) who can acctualy sing the roles properly.

  • Gah! Yet again the only Porpora we get is in some castrato compilation, like with Vivica Genaux's Arias for Farinelli.

  • thank you!!!

  • I think he has really fantastic voice....

    thx.... nice video

  • Oh! BEAUTIFUL!!!!

  • Good old baroque music...yeah, this is it!

  • Amazing. Track 12 shows his work on chest voice passing to it undetectably from head voice.Truly the best.

  • Fantastic video! Thanks so much for posting :D.
