I don't see how it's the "most stupidest idea ever" to channel the water through the laptop rather than let it just soak into ALL the electronic components? Now it has a tunnel through the laptop so it doesn't stay where it is.
If they didn't include this, you'd still have stuff spilling all over the whole laptop that you would have an even harder time cleaning...
@MaddogWare Luckily the keyboard takes up most of the surface of your laptop eh? It's better than other laptops I've worked on where spilling on the keyboard almost guarantees that your motherboard is going to get soaked in that crap... With the lenovo you just pour some rubbing alcohol through the keyboard and let it dry.
@LousyHeroes I'd and I've a lot of thinkpads (due job and so on), yes it's better than other laptops. But I still know that a thinkpad is not perfect, too.
It DOES work, but the early implementations didn't make a seal of anykind. They were able to drain liquid on the keyboard through the system, but some didn't even have drainage holes--it just avoided crucial parts of the motherboard. On the older ones, you're not supposed to tilt the machine until drained and its best that the liquid get on just the keyboard. Drainage in the T6x and newer models like this one work quite well, while the current models have sealed top covers that work VERY well.
