  • That's ALLOT of good sound coming from just 3 guys - what a jam!!!

  • Amazing guitar in this one.

  • I was there!!!

  • RUSH RULES!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow;...The guitar solo is pretty different than on Rio,or ,R-30.Rush rules!!!!!!!!!They aren't in the hall because they are too good!!!!!!!Lifeson,Hendrix,Page;...My 3 votes for greatest rock guitarists of all time;......Alex does more just hanging in the backround than most guitarist will do in a whole carreer. The " Frewiill " solo and all the rest of Alex's work proves conclusively that he is from Saturn.

  • Screw the Rock hall of fame, if they don't put these guys in, they are the hall of fame minus one.

  • All I want to know...... is why the %&#! arent they in the rock and roll hall of fame. The fact that they are not is a travesty of the highest order!

  • An emotional song, I think. Went off my antidepressant once and listened to it in my car. Closest I ever came to crying over a song.

  • @ancilodon try thick as a brick by tull

  • @daddysevenpointfiver Yeah, that one "resonates" with me too, but not in the same way. Great song though.

  • This version sounds better than the R30 one. At least geddy's voice does anyway.

  • Earthshine stands up with their best. Tremendous song. Long live RUSH!

  • i luv this SoNG Viva RUSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nice loved it

  • PULVERIZE YOU ! LOL

  • 2 fuckin´ bastards didn´t like it!

  • OK ... off subject, sorry. Does anybody know what the deal is with the clothes dryers behind Geddy??? I don't pay a whole helluva lot of attention to all the background noise in the industry ... I just listen to tunes ... so forgive me if it should be obvious.

  • @reinhardweiss

When Geddy stopped using the normal backline of amps and cabs, he wanted something to fill the gap on stage, and (the story goes) opted for the dryers as they give a nice warm tone. They are real laundromat dryers - a roadie occasionally fed them with coins to keep them running - and they were filled with T-shirts that were thrown into the crowd at the end of the shows.

  • @andyg905 most people dont really follow Rush, as you as well. He didn't start with dryers. Jut out the correct facts.

  • Comment removed

  • @andyg905 when he stopped using the backline of amps and cabs, he didn't start with dryers

  • i have barely listend to anything BUT RUSH in the past like 6 months. still nowhere sick of it

  • Great tune. Good video. Flat, mediocre performance for these guys. Gedd'y's missing notes all over the place.

  • @sirscroddy You're clueless

  • @sirscroddy I was at this concert the accoustics at phillips areana suck bigtime and it seemed to me they where having a very hard time hearing each other. When they walked of the stage they where very very pissed off about their performance! That concert was my 13 different tour of seing rush in concert! Have a good one!

  • @kg4vwy Interesting, thanks for the insight.

  • why don't they ever play anything from vapor trails?

  • @jcfbell3001: Well, this one is from Vapor Trails, isn't it? So is Secret Touch, which they play all the time.

  • Armando2012102 nope, didn't play Secret Touch late tour.

  • @jcfbell3001

i meant on the new tours....i guess they just don't have enough time to cover everything LOL....

  • WHEN ARE YOU SUPOSSED COMIN TO VENEZUELA

  • Great Song,,, Awesome video Thanks for posting

  • evrytime i listen to this it gives me the creeps

  • DUDE I WAS THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I sat next to a great young band by the name of Analog Missionary!

  • WHO CARES

    Neil Is A GOD

  • your quite welome, my liege, and the three who rule. Arkhan(peart) Zargo(Lifeson) and Camila(Lee) a sort of in joke.

  • Does anybody else find themselves exceeding the speed limit by at least 50% when playing this song in thier vehicle?

  • i want to do a cover of this song in my band so bad. Sadly my bass player and i are the only Rush fans :/

  • Rush is the best band!

  • This song Is about what ?

  • Alex is a poor guitar player...... NOT !!!!!!

  • Have you guys heard the story that Geddy Lee was born Gary Lee Weinrib, but took the name Geddy Lee because his mother, being Jewish, with a very thick, I think, Yiddish accent, pronounced his name as Geddy all his life because she couldn't pronounce Gary, so it just stuck as his stage name. Kewl story I think.

  • @Satonica Yeah, that's a cool story! :)

  • @Satonica Wrong!! It was his Grandmother.

  • @canrockfan Wow, really? If that''s true, you need to fill him in because he keeps telling people it was his Mother. He says his parents were Jewish refugees from Poland who had been survivors of Nazi concentration camps Dachau and Bergen-Belsen during World War II. In 2004, Canadian Jewish News featured Lee's reflections on his mother's experiences as a refugee, and of his own Jewish heritage. Geddy even speaks fluent Yiddish, which I find REALLY kewl.

  • Actually I think it was his grandmother....but Im not splitting hairs...

  • @Satonica I read in the RUSH book that it was his grandmother

  • @rodswen Yeah? That's interesting because his MOTHER appears in the new documentary, "Beyond the Lighted Stage" which goes on sale on June 29th, opening night of Rush's Time Machine Tour, and she has that same thick accent, similar to Gene Simmons mother, so apparently Geddy got it from ALL sides. Thanks for the interest though.

  • @Satonica hmm thats interesting my stage name would probly be zadow

  • @Satonica I heard the same thing in an interview with Geddy.

  • @Satonica Yes, I've heard about it, and also his family is from Poland! My country and even from town where I have family too! So cool, I hope I'll meet him there someday :)))

  • @atonica wow, most peeps know this, i guess some dont.

  • @Satonica It was his Grandmother.. :)

Its an awesome Name story though!

  • @Satonica i knew his name was gary weinrib but didnt know the story behind it. that awsome dude thanks

  • @Satonica Yep old news, but a wonderfully anecdotal story.

  • @Satonica thanks

  • This is a great tune by Rush!! (Did any of the morons below catch where I used the capital letters?)

  • If there's anything the last 8 years have taught me is that when God Cheers, satan jeers.

    Take Care.

  • What the hell are you saying?? Obviously you haven't learned ANYTHING in the last 8 years, or your entire life for that matter!! What the hell does a fairy tale about an invisible male in the sky and an invisible male in the ground have to do with Rushs' music or anyone elses' music??

  • my new favorite rush song

  • bad ass.....their new stuff rocks. i am a fan of great music. this is mega no matter your taste in music...

    -- U2's biggest fan

  • some fuckhead on facebook said rush didn't do anything good after 'moving pictures', what a bunch of crap.....obviously not a fan

  • what a dumbass the fucker doesn't know anything about what real music is, apparently

  • "Apparently" you are the "dumbass". You know nothing on how to put a sentence together with correct punctuation. Learn grammar, English, spelling and punctuation before you post another idiotic remark!!!

  • Don't stoop to that person's level. Learn punctuation before you post a mesage on any website.

  • @KOSMICKEN09 He probably doesn't listen to anything not on moving pictures...

  • @KOSMICKEN09 agreed 100%! - if that person ever darkened my door I would surely give him or her "what for"! RUSH absolutely Rules in Rock!!!!!

  • @KOSMICKEN09 He probably never heard of Rush before Moving Pictures, so he probably likes Tom Sawyer and that's it because he's not even a rock fan.

  • @KOSMICKEN09 Whoever said this only liked Moving Pictures because it was so popular. That was a great album, but I don't think Rush has EVER made an "okay" album, or even a song. They are one of the most amazing bands in all history, without a doubt.

  • @KOSMICKEN09 Some people didn't like Lifeson being continually shoved into the background while keyboards continually came to the forefront ESPECIALLY after Moving Pictures. I wasn't one of them. By the time Rush returned to the hard-rock format in the 90's, their former fans probably never noticed. Honestly, I'd had it with Rush by the time Hold Your Fire appeared, as they just weren't rockin' hard enough anymore. Come Rush in Rio, however, and I once again became a serious fan!

  • @KOSMICKEN09 We should find that person and make them listen to Femers p.list endlessly....

  • This song has such a progressive metal feel to it.

  • This song is so catchy when I go to school I just get this song stuck in my head along with the other hundreds of songs. And on this Alex's phaser is so powerful it sounds like its adding a phaser to Neils drums also.

  • lyrics not just by neil

  • OK PPL this song is amazing and rush is amazing. i have not heard anything better. but if you ppl are rush fans you should already know that the music is my Geddy Lee And Alex Lifeson, the Lyrics are by Neil Peart.

  • You really need to go back to school to learn punctuation and spelling. "Rush" has a capital "R". "PPL: and/or "ppl" is spelled "people"....is that what you meant to say?? "i" should be "I". You get some points for using caps for the first and last names of the band members, but there is no capital "A" for "and" between "Geddy Lee" and "Alex Lifeson". There is no capital "L" for "lyrics" between "the" and "are by Neil Peart". You make yourself appear as though you have a low IQ.

  • @glsingle sorry dude? I never knew that this would upset you. i wasn't trying to write something perfect

  • one of the best Rush songs EVER

  • this song is very underrated

  • washing machines?

  • Man People think I don't know the band. Oh well their loss

  • And another thing I personally think Vapor Trails is their best album

  • agreed! this album kept me going through high school. without it, id prob be dead.

  • Yeah agreed

  • Awesome man. I do too. It's very hated by a lot of Rush fans, but for me, I like all their albums. There is no album I hate man. Keep Rushing everyone!

  • This album was great...I was disappointed that it never did better on the charts because it was better than any new rock that entire year if I remember. Plus, it was much better than their previous two releases artistically. It is unique in their catalog because Alex does not perform a solo on the entire album. This is one of many good songs on the album...

  • It's better than Counterparts?

  • Earthshine, You're still out of reach form a dream to rise to Earthshine. Great Lyrics writen by Geddy Lee for this song. My personal favorite next to secret touch

  • That would be Neil Peart writing, not Geddy Lee. The drummer's the writer for this band, lol.

One reason why Peart's referred to as "The Professor".

  • Geddy Lee writes some lyrics. Earthshine was formed, like all rush songs, on a rif and jam session. In an interview about Vapor Trails they Alex states that he walked in one day and Geddy was working on some lyrics based on that rif and was told to go away. Alex comeing back a couple of hours later says that he had some lyrics down and that's how Earthshine was formed

  • I'm still sure that Neil wrote the original lyrics for this song, rather than Lee.

However, Geddy has said that he may adjust lyrics as needed, so that he can sing them (either to make him more comfortable with the lyrics, or just beacuse they don't fit the jam in any way). Still, Neil does do the bulk of the writing.

  • I know Peart writes all of the lyrics but I'm going off of what I saw on The Vapor Trails Interviews and Alex told the interviewer that he went in one day after Jamming on the Riff for Earthshine and Geddy said "I have an Idea, go away" and when he came back he had some lyrics going

  • Yeah, I just checked the liner notes:

"Music by Lee and Lifeson / Lyrics by Peart"

  • I know I have the album but I'm going off of the vapor trails interviews and look at my earlier comment

  • @RollTheFemers geddy writes some songs like tears from 2112 and mandrigal from a farewell to kings and alex wrote lessons from 2112 as far as i know i look at the booklets alot XD

    long live rush

  • @zackjp True, and Geddy also wrote Caravan, which I am proud to say I saw Rush perform last Tuesday, June 29th in Albuquerque, NM. The whole concert was one of the major high points of my life I must say, especially since I have NEVER seen them live before and might not live long enough to get to see them again. Brilliant song though Peartdefinitely found his calling in drumming AND as a lyricist. What a GREAT experience I had and I urge ANYONE that gets the chance to go and see them this summer

  • @Mosobot64 Rush is my favourite band and Peart's writing is the main reason. Of course it doesn't hurt that their sound is fantastic!!!! Love ya "professor"!!!!

  • great vid, great sound!

  • A jewel out of reach.....it's like yesterday in Rochester, NY! This is the song that brings it all back to me....2002! Of course then I heard Between the Sun and Moon and thought that was ohhhh the lucky one I'd NEVER hear live. Hey, thanks for posting this....

  • They played this at Pine Knob DTE back in the day. Then the moon came out and I felt the pull. Gave me chills.

  • I was there!

  • nice quali^^ ...normaly i prefer "nonlive" versions...but there is non ._. curse on the lable!!! i think rush would never delete their songs from youtube ...its their lable

  • On certain nights when the angles are right and the moon is a slender crescent...... One of my favorite Rush Tunes - Thanks for posting this!

  • Absolute awesome..me and geddy love the guitar riff without each other knowing from this album..His and mine favourite...

  • best album of rush

  • wow! it sounds just like the studio version!!

only with a better solo :]

  • this was a dayafter my birthday and it was in my hometown!

  • wow nice

  • i LOVE these guys <33

  • the youtube recordings of this show all have better sound quality than the Rush in Rio DVD in my opinion

  • I disagree with ya man, maybe your dvd player and speakers from your tv aren't as well off as your comp?

  • Ok I guess I'm exxagerating but, it does sound pretty good for an amateur recording

  • This isnt an Amateur Recording, its from the crew that toured with the band..

  • Actually, as hard as it may be to believe, this IS an amateur recording! Three fans went to the show, each sitting in different seats, each with a video camera handy. They all taped the show, hence the three different angles. The audio was sourced from an amateur taper, and an IEM/ALD/Scanner source mixed together. So, it's amateur, but it sure as hell looks professional. :-)

  • @rohnur no it isn't.

  • What's with the washing machines?

  • Geddy says they give his music a "Warm, Dry tone" =)

  • thats funny..how about the snack machines?

  • a lot of rush's fan's don't have access to modern laundry facilities so Rush, Tide Detergent and Maytag Corp. have teamed up in a charitable effort to offer clean, fresh scented clothes around the globe

  • Creative!

  • THATS AWESOME!

  • this show is better than rio, more raw and no annyoying crowd.. like in rio

  • well that "annoying" crowd is alot more livelyer than this one.

  • absolutaly agree, brazilians are better audience than this one

  • i can play the drum beat from 0:43 to 1:20

  • will you settle for a peanut butter cup?

    (sorry couldn't resist)

Rush - my fave band of this genre - go Geddy!!!

  • what does that mean

  • I was at this show it was AWESOME!!

  • geddy lee has a good voice

  • I was at this show and a few others on the VT tour. Neil's drums sound a million times better on this tour than they did on R30 and S&A. Listen to that snare...good stuff...and he is playing with a fierce passion here as well. Neil looks tired today.

  • thats manily because after the rush in rio show his whole kit was destroyed in an accident

  • First I am ever hearing this story...link? Proof?

  • thanks for the vid

  • Great song, fantastic band, been a fam since 1977 - saw them twice at the NEC Birmingham, England - seeing them was a lifelong ambition and I was on a high for days after - awsome experience !

  • awsome song i went to see rush in concert 2 times they sing so good can you beleve it geddy lee is almost 60 yrs old wow

  • The solo from Alex on the CD is my favourite Rush moment ..period..then comes Freewill with Geddys vocals..Neil is Neil ...unbelievable

  • One of my Favorite Rush songs,Love their style; how did you record the sound,What camcorder did you use???

  • this is a very good sho,thanx 4 uploading

  • yeah it is
