I am not a muslim. It cannot however be denied that islamic culture preserved(and advanced) scientific and philosophical knowledge that xtian Europe threw away when xtianity was forced upon it by the roman empire. Allah (GOD) is an Arabic word derived from Al-Ilaha (THE DIVINITY){(Al (THE) and Ilaha (DIVINITY)}. This word of Arabic language comes from the exact same trunk of the Hebrew word Ellohim which is derived from Elloh {(THE DIVINITY)(EL (THE) and ILoh (DIVINITY)}. Allah is not a "name", it seems "GOD" in Arabic. As in Judaism, Islam says the name of God can not be pronounced.
